We just returned from five nights at Shakti Cove Cottages and have nothing but good things to say about this place. Check in was quick and easy with minimal contact. Jeff, the owner, wss friendly and helpful. We stayed in Bear Cabin so can't really speak to the other lodging choices but Bear Cabin was comfortable and relaxing.

Bear Cabin sits off to one side by itself so it's very private. It has a small kitchen with a gas stove/ oven, small refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave. Everything we needed for our stay. There are even grills available for outdoor use. The bathroom is small but efficient with plenty of storage. The shower is small but just fine and since the cabin has a tankless water heater, endless hot water. The bedroom is of ample size and the bed is comfortable. The entire cabin is tongue and groove with plenty of bear pictures and ornaments everywhere. The sofa in the living area is also comfortable and there is a television mounted above the table and chairs in the dining area. It's large enough but honestly we were too busy enjoying the area to bother watching it.

Outside there is a porch with a small table and chairs and a large area where there is a firepit set up. We had a wonderful fire going two nights and enjoyed sitting next to it, under the stars. There is also a path nearby that leads through the trees down to the beach which seems endless and has few people on it.

Shakti Cove Cottages is in Ocean Park near to local restaurants and stores. Just off the property is a coffee place. It's also just a short drive to Long Beach for additional restaurants or Cape Disappointment which is a beautiful state park. It's also a short drive to Oysterville which is also worth seeing.

I highly recommend Shakti Cove Cottages and specifically Bear Cabin if you plan on visiting Ocean Park or Long Beach. I would certainly return!

I'll mention the good things first: (a) one of the beds was quite comfortable (b) it was quiet.

Otherwise: Managers were only on site a few hours per day, which made getting service for the main problem I had (wifi was down) difficult. Then I finally found somebody in at the office and mentioned my problem and she said "she would look into it." But the service went down late Friday night and never came back up until Sunday a.m. just before we left. Then it looked to me that somebody *changed the password* sometime Sunday a.m.

Anyway, there are automated systems you can get to tell you when these systems go down and that call somebody competent into bring them back up.

I'd have preferred to not even have wifi offered as a service rather than this crummy operation.

This is such a great spot. The cabins are the perfect balance of the justice and comfortable. The beach is just a beautiful 5 minute walk away and the property is full of fun little surprises. The owners are very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. We’ll definitely be back.

A magical oasis! We discovered Shahti Cottages when we searched for “dog friendly” logging on the Long Beach Peninsula. When I called to learn more about the site, I spoke with the owner Jeff. He was very pleasant and answered all my questions. We arrived after a 3 plus hour drive with low expectations, man…were we wrong. The property is very historic, nestled just a 7-minute walk down a beautiful path to the ocean. Our cottage was situated next to a quiet slough with an eagle’s nest in the tree above. The cabin was nicely appointed with modern yet retro conveniences (great shower head). The grounds had BBQs, fire pits, and all were dog friendly. Highly Recommended!!

This business will bill your credit card without so much as a call. There are many places to stay in the area and if you don't want to have work to do after your visit then stay some place else.
Nothing worse than getting home and being more stressed than when you left.

We have been going to the Shakti and have had pretty much a standing reservation for Rod Run the last 12 years. However the new mangers these past three years are horrid. She seams to have it in for us Rod Runners. Each year changing policies on us, and not liking when I show them their website states otherwise. The last straw was when she decided to talk bad about us on the phone. Next time make sure you have hung up before talking bad about the person on the other end of the line. We will NOT EVER stay there again. Sorry Harriet but Jackie is costing you major business!

We had reserved to stay here for a couple nights and when we got there it wreaked of mold and it made my mother and I sick. SO sick our allergies went nuts and we didn't even return back to the room until we had to, to go to bed. The outside is nice very close to the beach, has a very lovely like charm to it but once you step in there you will smell bad mold. The shower was leaking and when I went to the bathroom there was so much condensation on the toilet there was more water on my bottom than anything. You could see black mold on the shower ceilings. We told the manager she got offensive and mad at us. We would of switched hotels but we had already paid for this cottage. It takes a lot for me to be unhappy and I have to admit I was very unhappy. My family and I both. Our clothes smelt like mildew and mold for at least a couple washes. If they Renovated these cottages and got the mold taken out and fixed the stuff that needed to be fixed it would be a great place to stay other than that I highly recommend you spend your money on something better that will not give you a head ache!

I had planned to stay 3 nights, but after paying and going to my cottage, I sat inside for a few minutes and decided I could not stay here with the smell. It was like that awful perfumy carpet powder throughout the place. I permiated my body and clothes. Just awful. So, they were kind enough to give me a refund, except for a $25 fee for cancelling. Inside the cottage, it appeared clean though, old everything, looked like 1940's poor mans house. Maybe the other cottages didn't have this smell but you can decide for yourself.

This was our 2nd time at the cottages. The first time went well and we enjoyed it, no problems with management. The only thing we mentioned to them was that the shower leaked, just thought they would want to know. At that time we weren't sure why it was leaking. This year we went back for 2 nights. We did love the place and the easy access to the beach. We did realize the shower was leaking again,we stayed in the same cottage, The Apartment. The first night one of the blankets on the bed smelled really bad, so in the morning we went to get a clean one and just mentioned it smelled like maybe a dog or baby wet on it. Right away she got defensive and said there was no way it could stink, no apology or anything. When we mentioned that it was leaking and realized that it was coming out of the shower head, she accused us for breaking it. No concern or anything. No one ever came and looked at it. The last morning we were there the shower head literally fell off the wall on one of the guests heads. She never once said she was sorry when we went and showed her. Right away got defensive. We will never stay there again due to poor management. The problems we had were not ever a big deal it was the poor way that management handle the situation.

Shakti Cove is a little slice of heaven. Please note that the experience is rustic cottage. Kitchens with basic utensils and very clean. The cottages encircle a sunny circular yard with picnic tables. Visit the website for pictures.
The cottages are secluded in a wooded setting but within walking distance of book stores, a grocery and restaurants.
This is a vacation for those that want to get away from it all but still have a tether!
A short walk through a pine thicket and then dune grasses reveal an amazing and often almost private wide beach. The Pacific Ocean is yours.
The cove keepers are amazingly friendly while respecting privacy. The property is very dog friendly and they have a good selection of movies for quiet nights.
Each cottage has a kitchen stocked with basic pots and utensils for cooking your favorite seafood stew.
I have been bringing my pup here for many years as a special treat. Running on the beach or sitting back and watching the waves. We recently spent Christmas at Shakti and were so pleasantly surprised at the beauty.
Highly recommended. Our favorite place on the Pacific Northwest coastline.
