Detailed Reviews
Great place with pros and cons. It was redone in the last couple years and our stay was very pleasant. We stayed for one night in a 2 queen room in the main building. Easy access to our room. Easy parking. Room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. We used the pool and hot tub. Both were enjoyable. The pool area was fantastic. The pool is heated to the perfect temperature, even if it's chilly outside. It appears the pool has either been recently refurbished or is newer. There were plenty of chairs and there were some pool toys for guests to use. The attached club house area was nice. Be aware that the pool does close early. I believe the hours are 10am to 7 or 8pm. The nice staff opened the pool up a little early in the morning to let my daughter swim before we left. The peacefulness of the trees and grounds add a lot to the experience here. We drove down the road to the Mazama pub for dinner. You could walk, but we drove. One thing that I want to point out for future guests is that the price will drop about 30 days prior to check in if they still have rooms left. There is a no refund policy if you're within the 30 day window, which I knew when I booked. Our room price dropped a little over $100 per night after the 30 day mark which felt a little bit like highway robbery to know we were paying almost $400 for our stay when others were paying under $300 for the same room. It's a business move and I get it. No hate to the establishment. But, just a tip if you're a traveler on a budget. I do recommend this place. It was a lovely stay and the town of Mazama is beautiful and quaint. Do not skip the pastries and food at the Mazama Store!

We stayed in the Smiling Yurt cabin. My husband and I were there with his son Liam. It was perfect for three people. The kids' room has bunk beds so we are going to reserve it again so Liam can bring his friend Conner. All the amenities you could imagine will be in the yurt and it is so comfortable. I loved how the space is very efficient and aesthetically pleasing. You can also have your dog there and we had ours, Cosmic. There is a great drawing of him in the guest book by my husband who is the artist in the family.

Spent 1 night in cabin 12 - cozy, clean, no tv, no phone which was ok with us. Free wifi, free breakfast box, free coffee, juices, free parking, charging station available. Forgot to ask for ADA cabin - bathroom a little small - toilet low but with the help of my companion helped me up & down. We were able to see/listen to VP debate on lap top, walk ways lit up all night. We will go again with ADA cabin.

We stayed here 4 nights in June to hike in the Cascades. I had email correspondence from the owner about our stay. Seemed all very impersonal and I soon learned he was an absent owner.
We checked in and I saw that the Aspen room was smaller than a European room. No closet just a tiny room. We were spending 4 days so I asked if there was something bigger. She brought me a luggage stand. For the record the hotel was almost empty when we were there. The room was quite nice and modern just very small.
Beautiful restaurant but no service while we were there.
There is a great gourmet grocery store within walking distance and a brewery where we ate 3 nights.
The power went out one night we were there. Luckily it came on in the middle of the night.
I had called the week ahead to see if there was a need to bring our crampons to hike. She said absolutely no snow don't worry. We did run into snow as we hiked and the crampons would have helped.
Complete lack of engagement from the front desk.

I have stayed at Mazama Inn three times for week-long cross-country skiing vacations. The staff and accommodations were very nice - a real winter lodge feel. The food was excellent. We ate, family style, on long heavy wood tables. There was warm camaraderie and connections with the other skiers, sharing trail suggestions and stories. I leave in a few days for another week there. I can't wait!

Great location, peaceful, walk to Mazama Store, staff helpful when we needed a rollaway bed. They are renovating rooms so still a work in progress. Very close to great hikes, easy to find. Easy check in and check out using key codes on doors.

My husband and I stay at the Mazama Country Inn every winter, both for New Year's weekend and MLK weekend. We just love it there and felt it was high time we posted a review of the Inn. You will not find better service or friendlier folks than here!
The rooms are really nice, with a country appearance - the rooms we've stayed in had a fireplace and gas stove, usually a sitting area and kingsize bed - some rooms have whirlpool tubs. We both have dietary restrictions yet the staff there completely cater to whatever dietary needs/preferences their guests may have. The food is out of this world! Always plenty of it and the menu is frequently changed to keep things interesting. They serve it family-style, meaning that the guests all sit together to share breakfast & dinner - it's always fun to meet the guests. They provide all the fixins for sack lunches after breakfast so you can take one with you.
The groomed cross-country ski trails are just a few feet away from the front door of the main lodge - my idea of heaven! If you're looking for a fun winter vacation, this is the place to stay. You can rent skis/boots/poles or snowshoes. Big fireplace in the main lodge to warm up next to after your outdoor adventures. I highly recommend the Mazama Country Inn at any time of year but particularly during the snowy months to help you make it through our lengthy winters!

The accomodations at this inn may be fine judging from other entries in Tripadvisor, but beware of making any plans based on the availability/ reservation system they have online. The data on the online system is not kept up to date and is therefore misleading. In addition, the management of the hotel does not followup on online requests. If you want to stay here, be sure to call to make your reservations.

The Mazama Country Inn books cabins around the area, they are available directly from their web site.
We booked the Lost River Cabin and it was a terrible value.
They allow pets but we didn't bring ours, we should have because the place is overrun with rodents that kept us up at night and chewed through some very expensive food.
The beds were uncomfortable-very soft with little support and for some strange reason are raised really high off the floor, maybe the rodent issue! The shower is very small--don't drop the soap! Most of the furniture is of the hand me down variety.
If this cabin was loaned to us from a friend, we could have easily lived through all this, and would be happy to compensate them with a few bottles of nice wine or a dinner, but for $175.00 a night, all I can say is you would do a lot better elsewhere. BTW, the hotel takes no responsibility for this claiming they are a book agent only, so buyer beware!

Lovely place tucked in the woods, nice location however there is one structural flaw and one management flaw.
Structural issues- we stayed in a room on the lower level. The sound coming from upstairs was loud and intrusive. We could hear toilets flush, water running and people stomping and walking. Sound insulation was very poor.
Management issues- when you check in you receive a coupon for 10% off a meals in the dining room. It says it runs from 7-11:30. This is not accurate. We arrived at 11:26 and were told the kitchen was closed and they refused to serve us. We talked to the front desk and they did nothing.

Response from Cheryl P, Owner at The Inn
Responded Jul 16, 2016
Breakfast is served from 7 to 11:30 am in the Summer, and unfortunately it sounds as if you showed up 4 minutes before the kitchen and dining room closed. We hope that you were able to use the 10% off deal on another day. People usually find our breakfasts delicious! We are sorry that you heard noise from the floor above. We have not had this complaint before, but our staff has been consulted, and we are looking into better soundproofing. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
