Last year we stayed in a one room cabin and really enjoyed it. We did a take and bake pizza from Jacks. This year we stayed in a Studio #6 and it was sad. The unit literally has light shining through the door and was cold all the time. All heat sources on and cold air pouring into unit from door and cabinet in kitchen. Such a waste of energy. Also Jacks pizza was possibly the worst pizza I have had in my entire life.. The crust was still doughy and the toppings tasted like plastic..
This is our third stay this year (2021) and 21st in total! We have stayed in the lodge and in more recent years in the cabins as we now have a dog. All our stays have been wonderful. The staff is warm and friendly. Rooms and cabins are clean and tidy, and the cabins are fully equipped. Unfortunately due to Covid there has not been any food service in the past year but looking forward to the return in the future. By all means stop by the Mazama store. I can highly recommend their lasagna and chicken pot pies. Yum!!!
When we reserved the room we were supposed to get a complimentary breakfast, but there was nothing. The Lodge restaurant only has B’fast and lunch available on Thurs,, Fri, and Sat. The front desk does not always have a receptionist. The check in procedure requires you to access your key from a lock box. Stern warnings against early check in/late checkout - you will be charged for another day. If you want food, bring your own or travel to restaurants outside the property. We will not stay there again: for $275/night expect better than this.
Freestone Inn is an ideal place to stay if you’re visiting North Cascades. There’s very limited lodging around here. The Inn allows you to check-in with their contactless system or you can walk up to a friendly receptionist where you’re greeted with homemade chocolate chip cookies. We had a three-night stay in a one-bedroom suite with a full kitchen and large living room. Their sitting room has a full size sofa bed which allows two additional guests. Our suite was clean and had all the simple amenities you need during your stay. The kitchen was a bonus as there’s limited restaurants available. We had many of our meals in our suite. Freestone Inn is located around a beautiful lake and landscape. It’s in a quiet location and less than 10 minutes from the first hiking trail in North Cascades.…
The Freestone Inn offers a unique location in the upper Mazama Valley with ski trails near by. The Cabins are rustic, well equipped and offer comfortable beds and cozy gas fireplace. We enjoyed the COVID reservations for the hot tub and appreciated the grab and go breakfast. We had an issue with our heater that was promptly resolved by management. I can highly recommend staying at the Freestone.
We’ve stayed at Freestone in the cabins multiple times over the years and have always loved the location and the cross country skiing. Cabins are cozy, nicely modernized, but still a real get-away. Kitchens are pretty limited in the studio cabins — just two burners on the stove and an undercounter frig (not a problem in the winter with snow outside). However, the pandemic has curtailed the service — or something has. Calls to the front desk were rather grudgingly answered. Surprised when the front desk told us to Google places that sold ski passes since the same front desk clerk had told us wifi was iffy. Complimentary bottle of wine was a hassle to get as the front desk clerk didn’t seem to know about the deal. To be far, the weekend front desk clerk was more friendly and helpful. Breakfasts to-go were disappointing. The kind of muffins you might get at a gas station, commercially hard-cooked eggs (kind of rubbery) a granola bar, can of juice and an apple. Surely some bakery in town would love a contract to make something local if the restaurant couldn’t handle better sack breakfasts. But speaking of the restaurant. Ordered steak and fries one night and the steak was good while the mountain of fries were amazing! Could have fed four or five people with the mound of potatoes! Despite the small issues we had, we will be back. …
We love the Freestone Inn Cabins! We were pleasantly surprised to find the studio cabin spacious, clean and cozy with a large fireplace and small kitchen area. The only thing I'd say is the bed is a bit small compared to what we're used to but it was comfortable just the same. It was a perfect place to relax as it was so quiet and peaceful. A wonderful retreat away from our normal city life. We also had two dogs in the cabin and the Freestone provides towels for their wet paws and we really appreciated that. The cabin was reasonably priced, clean, spacious and relaxing. We will definitely be back! Thank you Freestone!
Ten stars for integrity of everyone at Freestone. My daughters wedding was planned fall 2019 for Memorial Day. Flowers, band, photographer, food all planned and mostly ready to go by late February. Then the pandemic hit and everyone was in limbo. When we finally called the wedding off we had to notify Freestone. As the father who has rented the whole place out for the weekend I wondered what might happen next. This is where the class of the operation shined through. Without hesitation they refunded and wished us all the very best. Good job and I hope this attitude is rewarded. Thank you.
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived here. The Inn is new and it is set in a beautiful location. Hiking North Cascades NP is an easy drive. Our room looked out over a small pond with a couple of fountains in it and there was a small trail around it. The property was kept up perfectly. We dined both nights on property. The first night at the pizza restaurant and our last night in the dining room of the Inn. Both were good and the wait staff was terrific. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
My niece was married at the Freestone Inn in late January. The venue could not have been more accommodating and beautiful. The staff was so very friendly and down to earth and easy to work with, really very nice people that made sure we had everything we needed. We lucked out with the weather, making our way there from Western Washington. They are only about 30 minutes from Winthrop, at most. We had a wonderful time, wonderful food and met just plain wonderful people which includes all staff.. I highly recommend for a winter wedding venue if one is seeking snow and mountains. My husband and I did not stay there, at the Inn itself, as rooms were above our budget but we stayed in Winthrop and the drive to the venue, Freestone Inn, was very timely and manageable. We all really felt so at home there and my Niece's wedding was just plain lovely and went off without a hitch. Thank you and Kudos to all the staff at the Freestone Inn for being so accommodating and helping to assure that all was in order. My husband and I hope to come back to visit during the summer. Cheers to you all and Thanks for a wonderful time.…
