We loved our stay in this lovely peaceful resort. We loved the comfy beds, the hot tub the fireplace of our honeymoon cabin, we enjoyed the fresh oysters, the shore diving and the nice people we meet while we stayed. Thank you so much for offering your piece of paradise as a vacation rental! It provided instant vacation for us. We can’t wait to come back!
I have stayed several times over the past several years, and I can say with absolute certainty that the review written by KDCOUTEAU sums it up perfectly. No need to me to say anything more, other than that the lady running the place needs to go away for them to survive. If you are looking for a place to stay sportsman purposes, this would suffice. However that is where it ends. You can get oysters and clams on the beach and I guess that's a good place for them to grow, especially considering where the "resort" disposes of sewage. So these are well fed shellfish..... by the guests of the resort. Then I guess the sicker the guests get the healthier the shellfish get. So that's the circle of life at Mike's Beach Resort.
We just stayed 3 nights in number 8 cabin that needs to be condemned. The floor is very unlevel. It is heading to the canal. Very rundown inside. What was the worst part was the bathroom shower has rot under the floor. I could actually push the whole corner of the vinyl flooring down into a hole. The shower feels kind of soft underneath it. I’m thinking it is an accident waiting to happen. It looked like the wall above the shower was painted to hide black mold. Could see black coming through. Very crowded and bumpy road to get to the cabin with little area to turn around. Never going back to this place. Very overpriced for what you get.
I have never written a review before in my life but my stay last weekend drove me to tell others whom are potentially planning their stay. DAY ONE : Upon arriving in the town in Lilliwaup there are a few cute shops, its charming. Not much nearby to do but we figured that might be relaxing when a family member selected this location for a reunion. We had about 30 people in our group and brought a lot of business to the resort that weekend. The majority of us rented small cabins facing the hood canal. The view was very beautiful. Upon arriving you pull into a simple establishment, it appears the owners live there as there own vehicles etc are scattered among the entrance. We went to the office to check in and were greeted by a less than friendly female. She stated that there was a $50 damage deposit (totally fine) and gave us the key and off we went to check out our room. At $130 a night we were not expecting glitz and glamour but we were greeted by a stuffy almost stale urine smell and icky and old motel 6 quality bedding. We quickly went to open the windows and realized the floors were very uneven (it almost gave us a sea sick feeling.) :| Our little girls were excited so we decided to just chalk it up and enjoy our time. Tiny accommodations can be fun right? Like your thighs hitting the sides of the wall when you sit down to pee in the worlds tiniest bathroom and shower. At that point we were like..."ok we are here to be with family, lets make the most of it" - bed time came...pull sheets back...HAIR...not my hair...Strip the bed and use the blankets and pillows we brought....You can feel the springs in the bed deep in your back. In my mind I keep saying "I love my family...I love my family..." Night TWO - take lots of melatonin. Made it through Night THREE - FINAL STRAW After a long day at the Olympic Game farm, we came back to BBQ and the owner, MIKE even joined our family and took leftovers up to his wife. We were tired. We sat and visited by a campfire til about 10pm when it was time for me to get my two girls *ages 3 and 6* to bed. Upon getting into bed we heard squealing. Mice on the floor and counter tops!!! Imagine pure terror in your children (insert screaming) and my father in law trying to trap them. Mind you our room is the size of a small bedroom/kitchenette so there were definitely an infestation. I told my husband I wanted to leave. It was 11:30 pm and off to the owner we went. The owners wife seemed displeased by our complaint and was essentially fine if we left but said she would give us a different room. Beings the time we had really no choice. Off to a different room to attempt to calm my hysterical children down. LITTLE TO NO SLEEP The next AM is checkout. All our belongings are still in the mice infested room. We go down and rummage thru our belongs (THROW OUT ALL OUR POOP COVERED GROCERIES) *Lets hope we don't get Hantavirus* and attempt to get the hell outta dodge. We find out from another family member that in order to get your deposit back you have to get an "inspection." So Mike goes and checks all our cabins. I get to the office and the female owner lies to my face and says "I never collected a deposit from you, I just do on some people" (remember this was one of the ONLY comments she made to me on check in) 130 a night x3 = $488....hmmm yeah she charged me. AND WE CLEANED UP MOUSE CRAP! I mentioned that I don't feel I should be charged for last night. She literally did not care or apologize this is all she said "No one else has complained, you probably left your door open." They charged full price and kept my deposit. I am borderline considering civil action in the courts - DO NOT GO HERE. We will never return…
Stayed Friday and Saturday night in the trailer with the deck and hot tub. It was comfortable for two people but could have been more so with a sleeper sofa. Setting is right on the beach and couldn't be more relaxing. Very friendly management. Within driving distance of wilderness or city, or perhaps a wildlife farm. Very Enjoyable.
