The Blue Elk Inn is a unique, comfortable Inn in the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, WA. Enjoy the seasonal pool in a beautiful garden setting or the outdoor hot tub year-round. Bikes are available for guest use (free of charge) and most rooms are dog-friendly (for a small add'l fee). The Inn has 23 hotels rooms, most with fireplaces and some with balconies, which include breakfast. In addition to the hotel rooms, our inn also offers four very spacious family suites; each include a kitchen, dining space, living room with fireplace, and deck or balcony. The inn is located roughly a half mile from town which can be reached via a park path; free parking is available for all guests.

This was our first time traveling with our 6-month old puppy. I was apprehensive because I had no idea how he'd react to hearing noises around our room. I mention this at the outset because one of the reasons I chose this place was that they are pet-friendly - VERY pet friendly! I was presented with a list of rules for the dog; all of their rules are reasonable & fall under what I'd call responsible pet ownership. If you're traveling with a dog, this place has the advantage of being very close to Enchantment Park. We walked our pup to the park several times to burn off some of his seemingly boundless energy. The grounds are spacious enough to roam around with him, but if you're traveling with children or a dog, the easy access to the park puts this at the top of the list of places to stay in Leavenworth. The staff members I saw were very conscientious about mask-wearing. While the breakfast wasn't ideal, I cannot fault the hotel for it. We've all had to adapt because of the pandemic, and delivering a hot breakfast to every room in a timely fashion would likely just result in people complaining about their breakfast not being hot. We stayed in room 210. It's a small room, but it was quite comfortable. The Hubs requested a couple of things - an electric teakettle & an extra table to hold his gear that wouldn't fit on the nightstand - and they were provided promptly. The hotel it’s self is nice. We stayed in a patio room with an outdoor fire pit. The room was nicely remodeled and clean. However, we saw multiple staff members not wearing their mask correctly. This included the front desk girl who didn’t cover her nose as well as two housekeepers who were cleaning rooms without a mask at all. Definitely not in compliance with WA state laws. Additionally, the “hot breakfast” they provided was a Costco hard boiled egg, yogurt and a granola bar. Not exactly “hot” and it was only provided 1 out of the 2 mornings we stayed.

We are so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. I'm surprised to hear the remark regarding staff and masks; we are taking COVID-19 very seriously and all of my staff are wearing masks (properly over nose and mouth) all of the time. We are following state laws, and more importantly, we care about the health and safety of both staff and guests. We have communicated information about current breakfast modifications on our website and also in the confirmation letter that is sent to every guest after they reserve. It is currently not legal to have a hot breakfast buffet, and as-advertised, we are temporarily providing a box of prepackaged items that includes: a Naked smoothie, a yogurt, a granola bar, 2 organic/cage-free hard-boiled eggs (yes, Kirkland brand), an apple, and a slice of homemade coffee cake. It is provided everyday to each guest (except suites).

New to the area and made the mistake of visiting Leavenworth during COVID. We got nervous about the numbers and tried to cancel, but the Inn would not let us. We came for one night and immediately regretted the decisions. There are way too many people here to maintain social distancing and about 20% not wearing masks on Front St. Would be fun in a non covid time, but not safe in the pandemic. Shame on us for making the reservation, but would have thought the Inn would let us change plans given the crowds.

We are so sorry that you had a negative experience in Leavenworth. It sounds like you visited a tourist destination during the busiest month of the year here not realizing that it would still be quite busy despite COVID-19, and I can understand that would be frustrating. Unfortunately, we at the Inn do not have control over how many people visit the town nor how other businesses are enforcing state laws regarding health and safety during this strange time. We are taking appropriate precautions (enforcing mask policies for staff and guests, increasing sanitizing in common areas and guest rooms, requiring social distancing, altering our breakfast offerings, and not entering rooms during multi-night stays) and we believe that it is still possible to visit our Inn and have a safe and lovely time! There are many outdoor activities (snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding, visits to either Stevens Pass or Mission Ridge), there are tons of restaurants offering take-out, and we have many rooms with fireplaces or propane fire-pits for staying in to just enjoy the snowy view. It is true that we do not allow last-minute cancellations without penalty (unless mountain passes are closed). We held that room specifically for you from the moment you reserved, and when folks cancel with no notice, we have no opportunity to try and recoup the otherwise-lost revenue via a booking by someone else. If you have any questions about the hotel or conditions in town, simply call or email with more notice. We hope you'll consider altering your review given that our cancellation policies are clear and that your negative review appears to be related to conditions in town (not at the Inn).

We came here during covid to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We had a great experience here all the way from check-in to check-out! Very friendly and knowledgeable concierge! The Blue Elk Inn is farther away from the crowds, and it had a great view of the beautiful mountain from our little private patio with a great little fire pit and patio furniture for relaxing. The rooms were very clean and nice, and had a pretty comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was boxed up and placed by our door every morning, and was full of goodies, with a little bit of everything. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing stay. There was also a nice yard in back by the pool and hot tub with plush green grass and beautiful flowers. We loved our stay here and would definitely stay here again!…
