The Ponderosa Motel is the best choice for food, television, and price. The annex (300 numbered rooms) are easy in/out and parking. The manager Mike is a nice fellow to work with. The flu situation has altered some of the normal community events, hopefully only temporary. I have fine memories of the Oasis Cafe, formerly located at the Ponderosa Motel, and the Ponderosa Motel continues in the similiar spirit.
We chose the Ponderosa Motel over the chain option in town because we like to choose local whenever possible. The Ponderosa is an older motel style accommodation in need of upgrades, routine maintenance, and TLC. Check in was unremarkable and we got the feeling we were checking into a low budget residential motel. The room was clean, but very dated and had holes in the walls were we presume artwork once hung.. At 1230am, some random couple knocked on our door to ask 'if we had a guest here.' That seemed very strange to us. Lots of shouting activity in the parking lot up until about midnight. Maybe the Quality Inn wouldve been a better option. Glad we only booked one night.
We stopped here on our way to tillamook. We love it so much we ended up stopping on our way back too! As a family with four kids and a dog, finding a place to stay can be daunting, expensive, and downright frustrating. On our way down to the coast, we had a two bedroom suite (sorry no pics). It had a queen in one room with a tv and the bathroom, and the attached room and two queens. On our way back, we got a room that had one queen, and two bunk beds (full on bottom, twin on top). There is also a trundle bed in the closet! The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Every employee we came across was SO friendly. Because of Rona, the breakfast was a to-go bagged style. But the breakfast bagel that came in it was BOMB...Homemade, and we are not talking some McDonald’s sandwich; this was impressively large and so good! We make a yearly trip to the Oregon coast every year with our rv, and this will be our halfway stop from now on. Love love love it. …
The Ponderosa at Goldendale Washington was an excellent place to stay at. The manager was friendly and very accommodating. Our two bedroom suite was beautiful and we felt right at home. It was in walking distance to a grocery store and downtown. I was able to walk to my best friend's house and we had a wonderful visit for the two days I was able to stay there. I recommend this motel for anyone going to Goldendale.
For taking a last minute overnight trip on the bike The Ponderosa was very accommodating. The room we stayed in was very clean and the bed was comfy, that's always a plus. They even had a bagged breakfast because COVID-19. The staff was very kind and told us where we could get dinner due to things being closed. We'll definitely be staying again when we're over that way.
