We visited the Kalaloch restaurant in the early 1990's and I have great memories of that visit. We visited again in August of 2022. I found the restaurant to be in disrepair and in serious need of a refresh. We ordered the fish and chips and it was good, but not excellent. The service was very good. They are clearly understaffed, but trying. Pricey, for what it is.

We were there with friends. The views were amazing. The 2 bedroom cabin was not very clean. No soap or shampoo in the attached containers in the shower. It is very overpriced and not many upgrades from our stay years ago. Will not be coming back.

Have made trip round the Olympic peninsula mainly to hike HOH rain forest, the trip was 4days/3nights. The reservatioins were made more than 2 months in advance, and date was determined by this being first available. Very disappointed in room and restaurant. Fisrt night was I will just say up the road by the ocean and room quality was 75% better at $100+ less. Night after being at Kalaloch room was $100 less and satisfactory. Each hotel had a + for locations. Will never return to Kalaloch Lodge.

Great scenery - WOW and the sunset was amazing! Very friendly staff! The cabin we had was clean and we had a bundle of wood waiting for us. There could have been a few things that would have made our stay so much more comfortable. We had a small fridge, microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. I was told I could cook - so I arrived with a menu of things to make... However, it is hard to do anything with a microwave - nothing to stir with. It would have made it so much nicer to have napkins, eating utensils and paper plates in the room. The blanket on the bed was a quilt with no lining - a down comforter would have felt plush - A Real blanket on the necessity on the list... The wood was great - however, there wasn't anything to start the fire with. A newspaper or a firestarter? I asked for a skillet to be brought to our room - but they fell through on bringing it to us. There ARE corkscrews available to be purchased at the lobby or in the mercantile. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the soap, shampoo, and conditioner. They had full size in a dispenser - not a sample size. I do like sample size to bring home - but this saves the environment too. Our had someone come in and empty the trash and give us new cups, but they didn't make the bed. Usually, I have had maid service make up the bed everywhere else I have stayed. This was a first. But I guess everyone is short-staffed these days due to covid. I will definitely go again, but next time, I will bring my own serving wear, cooking stuff, and a stove. Stuff that you wouldn't thing you would need when you go to a hotel. Be specific when you reserve your room. Ask if you will need to bring utensils with you.

As far as national park lodgings go, this place is a bit underrated. Consider that this lodge is sited on a bluff in an architectural manner that is respectful to its environmental context. While the furnishings are admittedly nothing to write home about, the fact that these cabins are actually quite comfortable feels almost incidental, as we were too utterly blown away by the spectacular setting to gauge something as mundane as the level of luxuriousness, which is rather impertinent here. One of the most magical evenings in our lifetimes was marked by a simple stroll on the adjacent beach at low tide during sunset. Then the dense fog rolled in, rendering the clam diggers as amorphous silhouettes against the darkening orange sky, and we felt as if we’ve been transported to a different world. Even the fact that the kitchen here serves very decent food that would be considered very decent anywhere else is just amazing to us, considering that this establishment is rather isolated geographically, and it certainly feels like you’re hundreds of miles from civilization, but in a good way. In case anyone would notice, this place does cover most of the basics (with a few glaring omissions): cleanliness, fair room temperature controls, noise levels under control (you’re in discrete cabins among national park guests who want to get an early start), reasonably comfortable beds, good toilet pressure and water temperature controls in the bathroom, sufficient supply of towels, acceptable lighting options in the rooms, just enough electrical outlets to charge your piles of modern junk, decent housekeeping, and helpful staff. You’re forced to commune with nature, or with your companions here, as mobile coverage and wifi are spotty. Be grateful that you’ve managed to snag a cabin here.

We stayed one night (wish it had been longer!) on our way thru Olympic NP, and arrived on a wet, chilly afternoon. Check in was quick and efficient, and our bluff cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable. We wrapped up in the extra blankets and watched the ocean for hours from under the awning. We had a delicious dinner at the lodge and fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. It was truly an incredible experience- we will be back- for a longer stay next time!

The lodge is located in a wonderful location, facing the Pacific Ocean. Our room, the Kalaloch Suite, was a perfect location for the expansive views. But be prepared for rooms that have seen better days, not unlike most NPS lodges. They do not think it is necessary to upgrade the rooms because people come there for the location. The lodge should do a better job of informing potential guests about the connectivity issue. There is no WiFi. Cell service is very limited. There's apparently a Verizon cell tower but that didn't help others. We were told about the pay phone which is l located in the parking lot, in case we needed to communicate. The food was mediocre. They were short staffed like most hotels so the staff worked very hard.

What a stunning spot to spend a night. Our Bluff cabin was clean and had the basic amenities. We were spending nights in many places on our trip through the Pacific NW. When we arrived at Kalaloch after a day in Olympic NP we could not wait to sit outside our cabin and take in the view. The staff in the lodge were friendly, the only person I encountered in the restaurant to put in a to-go order for food was likely having a long day, but the food was good and enjoyed back at our cabin. Highly recommend spending a night at this special place.

We've been here several times over the years and it never disappoints. We love the cozy log cabins, the comfy beds, and the well-appointed kitchens. We ate dinner at the restaurant twice and had great service. The food was also quite good, even compared to what we have back home in Seattle. A real achievement given how isolated this property is and the challenges of the labor market right now. The real standout though is as always the great access to the beach and the gorgeous views. There are very few places that can compare on the WA coast. A couple of small notes: you do need to bring paper towels, foil, and the like (or buy it at the little store). And I wish they would encourage folks to turn off their outdoor cabin lights if they don't need them on! Would make for better star-viewing and a healthier environment for nocturnal critters (including me, as the lights from across the road shone into our bedroom, even with the curtains drawn).
