We have been coming here for 18 years and probably won't be 19. The bank for your dollar has suffered greatly in the last few years. As the site prices increase every year you get less and less services. A) The power infrastructure is in dire need of an upgrade. I have ruined multiple 50 to 30 amp plug ins because of faulty breakers and bad over heated plug ins, and loss power every day over our 10 days stay. B) Compared to other resorts that have only power and water they are overpriced at over $80.00 a night. We have addressed the power issues over the last 5 years to no avail. If you have animals, do not leave them alone in your RV as they could be badly injured because of the heat due to all the power outages.
Much like Heidi's review ... I felt like I was in the twilight zone reading your review, as it must have been the same place we stayed at! The AC would not/could not cool upstairs AT ALL! It only went down to 70 degrees. ZERO supplies ... we had to ASK for potholders, kitchen towel and washcloth. Only one towel per person in the entire place. Toilets barely flushed. Thank goodness my children came a day later than us, as I had an entire carload of stuff for them to bring. Yup .. the patio table was caked in grease as was the side of the house ... and someone wrote on the other side. FILLED with little spiders inside. Beds were full size, not queen. A very small 24" TV in the living room on a short table - could not even see it. Kitchen was more than sparse. No paper towels. Limited tp for 10 people. One garbage bag. They expect you to go shopping the next day for items needed. I will NEVER stay here again. For what we paid ($850/night), it was not worth it at all. FYI ... I also have a short-term rental and we supply EVERYTHING! Ziplocks, saran wrap, foil, BBQ utensils, games, books, DVDs. This place was so incredibly disappointing. Buyer beware ... and pack everything, including the kitchen sink!!! Thank god it was summer and we could be outside as it would have been incredibly difficult to stay here if it were winter and we had to be inside. We got their Thursday night, and I woke up Friday morning wanting to leave already. I could not get out of there and home fast enough ... and I love adventuring to new places ... just not this one!…
We rented a villa for a week and came home completely exhausted. Beds are small (doubles - I didn't even know those were made any more) and broken down, the A/C didn't work so we all sweated through the night, and there's no light-blocking drapes for the bedroom windows. The grill on our deck was caked with grease and caught fire the first time we tried to use it, and the table and chairs on the deck were filthy. Wifi was spotty at best. We rented and paid for a pontoon when we booked our reservation and realized just prior to picking it up that we had to have a boater's license - that's 3-4 hours of online training (with spotty wifi mind you) followed by a 75 question final exam. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because the lake itself is beautiful and fun. So if you go, don't stay in Sunbanks lodging.…
Sunbanks Resort Beautiful scenery and an ok campground if you had the right spot which unfortunately did not. For the price I would've expected a better maintained area. Dirt, dust, and debris plus a partial hook up was not ideal for the amount they were charging. The spacing was ok, there was no way 4 rigs up to 40' plus large trucks would've fit if we didn't set it up the way we did. We had somewhat of a hectic afternoon of trying to figure out how to lay everything out. We tried to have staff help and give us tips on how previous campers may have set it up but all the could offer is apologies and stating the understand our dilemma. On top of that we had to run water hoses across driving areas which didn't make sense cause they were in a complete opposite area of the electric boxes. To add on, we had another family who also had an additional trailer come and say they were booked for our spots. To top it off, later in the evening, a few of our younger teenage kids went to visit the gathering area where the Karaoke is (where other kids and adults were as well) They were approached by an older lady (who they thought was a waitress) and were told no outside drinks allowed. She then snatched my daughter's water bottles aggressively out of her hands. They felt complete uncomfortable and decided to leave. As they were leaving the lady stated " Oh you guys are leaving, here you can have your water bottle back" in a sarcastic type of tone. A few of our party just went to check out what exactly was goin on. From what was seen, the area where the kids were sitting to where the waitress was, was very far and made it seem like they were specifically looked at. The diversity was lacking. So we're unsure as to if it was racial or because they were young teenage girls and the person had a power trip but it was completely unnecessary and very disrespectful no matter what. A simple " oh I'm sorry, there's no outside drinks allowed in this area" would have sufficed. Which is exactly what happened and was told to an adult in our party. What makes it worse is, the next day we find out, that the lady is actually the daughter of the owner of Sunbanks Resort according to what was being said around the area. How disappointing that this had to happen when all we were trying to do was enjoy our holiday weekend.…
We stayed here 8/27/21-8/29/21 in the lake view villa 807. I’ll summarize all the good and a few opportunities this resort has. The pet friendly villa had a nice view of the trees, lake and canyons. It had a nice size deck with a propane grill. The floors are water proof laminate which makes you worry free if a pet accident happens. The downstairs and upstairs loft bedroom both have AC and worked very well. The room was clean and the bed upstairs was very comfortable. The pull out couch downstairs was okay and was perfect for our 9 year old son. You could also fit a blow up bed upstairs or sleeping bags for more accommodation. Wifi codes for each device in your room are available at reception which is a life saver since coverage is spotty throughout the resort. The swimming area is nice and has an amazing sunset. This park is very kid friendly so expect to be around a lot of families. The 20’ pontoon boat we rented was basically brand new and fit 7 people perfectly. The cons- The major annoyance was the karaoke nights. The cantina does karaoke every Friday-Sunday. This would be okay if it was more structured. 8/10 people singing were kids who stood up there and mumbled into the microphone while everyone at the bar had to sit the through it. It’s fine to let kids have a go but it was WAY too much. They should limit kids to one after every 5 or so adults at the least. The worst part about it was the karaoke was very loud and went on until 10 pm every night. If you are camping, in a villa etc YOU WILL HEAR the karaoke loudly in your room. The cantina is open those nights so you can count on food and drinks which is nice. The menu is typical with American food etc. There was only ONE cook and when he went on break shortly after karaoke started, no one was cooking so it took forever to get our food. There was only two stressed out bartenders trying to serve tons of people and the best way to get service was to order at the bar, if you wait at the table it could be a long time. Boating while here makes the entire experience, we loved it but it cost over $900.00 to rent the pontoon boat for 8 hours. That is outrageous and a few years ago the cost was much less. The kitchen in our room was fine but had very few dishes so I recommend bringing your own necessities to make sure you have everything you need. To summarize in our opinion boating makes the whole trip, going to little beaches along the way, cliff jumping etc. if you don’t go out boating you may find yourself bored. Don’t expect a 5 star resort in electric city, it is what it is. Everything was well enough maintained and just fine for a family trip.…
weird mix of Western, contemporary and Spanish- like 3 different owners had different "visions" Our campsite was billed as "waterfront" which it was, however the entry into the water was mushy and reedy. we were on a dirt hillside running down to the Lake. The water and electrical were on the entry side of the RV, not the service side. Which means obviously you have to step over hose and power cord when navigating the entry side of the trailer.
I heard a lot of good things about this "resort" and decided to check it out for a 4th of July weekend. Never again! For the cheaper cost, I could have gone to a high end Lake Coeur d'Alene result and would have had a much better experience. 1) Lodging is expensive. We rented a lakeview villa - almost $650 for 2 nights. Pull out couch in the living room is old, with springs poking your back when you are trying to sleep. NOT a good night rest! That couch should not be included as a "sleeping" place. The place was infested with ants. We did not leave any food out, everything was stored in the refrigerator - but still, every day the kitchen was covered with ants - countertops, sink, floor. And not a single ant trap anywhere. 2) The campground itself is overcrowded. Never seen such a packed place with absolutely no privacy. 3) The "beach" is tiny, not enough to accommodate such a large number of people that camps there. 4) The registration staff are nice and friendly - no issues with people. 5) The boat rental place is a story in its own. I have been renting boats in Washington, Idaho and Montana for years. Generally, we get charged 300 per 4 hours. This place charged me 330 for 2 hours. AND - GET THIS - in my 2 hours it was also MY responsibility to take 15-20 minutes and go gas up. What kind of service is that?? I am happy to pay for gas, but I absolutely do not want to be responsible for gassing up. As a result, we were not very successful in parking our pantoon at the gas station, evidently denting the panel slightly - and were charged another $540 for that. Why is the responsibility for gas'ing the boat is put on customers' shoulders? I paid for 2 hours of fun time - why should I also pay for doing their job? I have never ever seen that. I generally return to the same place where I depart, workers gas me up and I pay the bill. First of all, you should not expect customers to do your job - it's your responsibility and we pay a lot of money for renting these boats. Second, you should not include "gas time" in the time paid by the customers. I am paying for 2 hours of fun time, not for 1 hour and 40 minutes. I also don't appreciate being yelled at on the phone for being late, especially considering that the people before us were also late and we left 30 min later than originally expected. So, this boat rental place was definitely a bust. So, at the end of the day, this will not be a place that we ever go visit again. Way, way too expensive for what you get. As I said in the beginning, for less money, I could have gone to a high end Lake Coeur d'Alene resort and would have had an amazing time there, with better amenities for my money.…
A run down neglected resort. WF cabin filthy, coffee pot fridge, microwave all filthy. Floors disgusting. Dock covered w/goose poop. This run down 'resort" is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Over priced.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Its such a beautiful and relaxing place to be. Come here every year and its only getting better. Lots of updates I see that they are doing, cant wait to see what this new year brings.
For Labor Day weekend we rented two of the "dry" cabins for my birthday. The cabins were small and clean. I also liked that there was electricity, microwave, fridge, and AC. The downside - one of the AC units didn't work in one cabin (average temp 90s) and one of the BBQ grills was out of propane, and the fire starter was out as well (the other cabin didn't have a lighter nor did the front desk have an extra). So we purchased a lighter from Safeway, and we had to use one grill to cook our meals for 11 people. It was a little challenging, but not bad. The women's bathroom is located down the hill from our cabins and it's a trek going up and down the dirt path. There are only two working bathrooms for all the women on the property, so there's a long line to use the showers and toilets. Which isn't ideal on a very busy 3-day weekend. You end up using the porta-potties. The beach and swimming areas were great. However, two of our kids end up cutting their feet on debris, so I'd highly recommend wearing "water shoes." We also rented a pontoon from KJ Watersports for a day. That was fun going out on the lake. Overall, a pretty good experience.…
