The Kangaroo House has everything a great B&B should! The rooms are adorable, clean, and comfortable, and the service is outstanding. The owners, Charles and Jill, get to know each and every one of the people visiting and are always willing to help answer any questions. And, of course, the breakfasts are just amazing. Every morning, you are cooked a... More

My wife and I spent two nights at the Kangaroo House B&B in August 2016. The house is a big old craftsman with lots of comfortable sofas and nice lighting. Our room (one of 5) was clean and comfortable. The hot tub has a reservation system, so you can have it to yourself for 45 minutes. Charles and Jill put... More

There are many wonderful things about this B&B (and a couple of small issues) but what really makes it stand out are the breakfasts. The website will tell you about the locally sourced, organic ingredients that go into these meals but what it doesn't tell you is how incredibly creative and delicious they are. We stayed four nights and each... More

We were so fortunate to secure a room for 3 nights at this Lovely BnB on Orcas Island. Our room was the Chickadee Room and it was very nicely appointed, everything one could want, including cozy robes to wear for a trek to the secluded hot tub. Breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented.

No detail of our happiness was overlooked, and our stay was delightful in every way. The house itself is a craftsman gem, with a generous front porch, roomy back deck, and lots of sunny places to sit and read. The breakfast room is surpassingly lovely, with hummingbirds coming right up to the window while you eat. We stayed in the... More

We just completed a 5 night stay at Kangaroo House on Orcas Island. We hated to leave. Our house, Charles and Jill could not have been more welcoming. Accommodations are both charming and very comfortable. Breakfast each day was a three-course gourmet meal, with ingredients taken from the organic garden. Charles and Jill take a personal interest in their guests.... More

Kangaroo House is amazing because of Jill and Charles! They are fun, caring, and a fountain of knowledge about the Island, history, and FOOD. 9:00am and everyone is waiting to see what new and exciting breakfast will be served, and while we eat we learn about the birds who flock to the feeders on the deck. The house is charming... More

This B&B is INCREDIBLE!! The room was clean, well designed, and cozy. The house itself is gorgeous with a garden out front, plants and flowers throughout, wonderful places to sit and relax (not to mention a hot tub). The owners (Jill and Charles) are some of the best people you will find - friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. The breakfast....is to... More

This was my second time staying at the Kangaroo House on Orcas Island. The first time was 5 years ago. Both stays were absolutely amazing. The inn is amazing in its architecture and coziness. It truly feels inviting and comfortable to use the "public" areas like the living room, library, and front porch. The food Charles prepared was superb. Really... More

My daughter & I stayed at the Kangaroo House for 2 nights while I was visiting her on Orcas Island where she is living & working. It was perfect. Very friendly helpful host who sits & talks with you after he serves you an amazing breakfast. Incredible frittata made with very fresh ingredients from the garden in the front yard.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This historic Craftsman Bungalow was built as a vacation hotel by a stone mason in 1907. In a later incarnation, colorful resident and steamship captain, "Cap" Ferris brought a baby orphaned kangaroo to live with him and his family. The locals dubbed the sprawling lodge the "Kangaroo House" Since then it has become a B&B and is the longest continually operating bed & breakfast in the San Juan Islands. We have 5 Rooms/Suites, all with Private Bathrooms, King or Queen beds and some with additional beds and DVD players/movies, Free WiFi, Garden Hot Tub, and an exceptional, filling, breakfast made from scratch including wholesome, local fruits, meats, vegetables and herbs from Orcas Island's own farms and gardens. ... more   less
