Detailed Reviews
We just returned from four days, three nights at the Camas Hotel. It was part of our 50th wedding celebration trip and we enjoyed every minute. The hotel is historical, and the staff very friendly and accommodating. We had room 3, king bed and sunken tub for two on the second floor. Included in our suite rental is daily breakfast at the restaurant next door, and tickets to the movie theater half a block away. We had the bonus of a dozen roses, a bottle of chilled wine, and a bag of chocolates.
There is no elevator for the three floors of the hotel, but we didn’t have a problem with it. The room is on the front side of the hotel with two windows. We sat with the windows opened watching main street activity and drinking wine. I wasn’t bothered by street noise at night, but there were ear plugs provided in the room if needed. The room has a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The bathroom was equipped with lots of large towels, black facial towels, and nice quality toiletries. Our toilet was in a small separate room.
Tommy O’s, the restaurant next door, offers four choices for the free breakfast, all of them tasty. We also had a wonderful celebration dinner there. They have a happy hour from 3-5 with a variety of appetizers and drinks, most for $5. I had two amazing house recipe drink specials.
We walked the quaint downtown area day and night, feeling totally safe. There were so many restaurants located within a two block walking distance. The only drawback of the trip is parking. Hotel parking is located two blocks away. Downtown parking is very limited and time restricted. There are two 15 minute parking spots at the front of the hotel for drop off and unloading/loading. Other than this one thing, our visit there
was all we hoped for, and we would do again absolutely.

I was looking for a unique place to stay during a Thanksgiving visit to Vancouver, and happened upon this hotel online. I was able to view each room online and make a choice that worked best for me. Some rooms have private baths, others a shared bath down the hall. The hotel had a wonderful feel to it - an old building (no elevators), with nicely remodeled rooms. The lobby was inviting with a scented candle burning and freshly baked cookies each afternoon. I was given a set a of coupons good for discounts at local businesses, and my room also included complimentary breakfast at Tommy's Restaurant, next door to the hotel lobby. The hotel also provides complimentary vehicle parking a short block away. For the best rates, I would recommend contacting the hotel directly. There were small shops, a movie theater, and good restaurants within walking distance.

We had a very nice stay at the Camas Hotel in downtown Camas, WA. It was our 8th wedding anniversary and coming out of quarantine for 3 months we were more than ready for a celebratory night out. The room was small but big enough for a couple; it reminded me of a quaint European hotel room. The bathroom was a good size, comfortable for 1 person to be in there. The shower was good size and had a fun waterfall shower head. Loved the toiletries; they smelled yummy! The staff provided 2 terry cloth bath robes but neither of us used them. The room was clean, lots of natural light - there were 2 large windows (that actually opened all the way!) that overlooked the quaint downtown area. Since we are celebrating our anniversary we decided to add a “romance” package when we made the reservation; it included a dozen red roses, chocolates, a bottle of sparkling wine, and 2 engraved tumbler glasses that were ours to keep. The add-on was $55 which in hindsight was definitely a little expensive for what you got but I’m glad we did it. It was nice to walk into our room when we first checked in and see a pretty bouquet of red roses and a bottle of sparkling wine chilled and ready for us to enjoy. Our only complaint is the bed was awfully squeaky and not the most comfortable. So it wasn’t the best night’s sleep for either of us but it also wasn’t the worst (we do have 2 small children after all). All in all we had a lovely stay and would consider staying there again when we are in need of a night away but don’t want to travel too far to do so.

Clean, well maintained, affordable lodging in a a central small downtown area of 1920-30’s architecture surrounded by buildings of Art Moderne origin that retains the scale and symmetry of Art Deco architecture.
All remnants of any exotic and costly ornamentation is gone in this functional, charming, and realistic downtown area developed over 100 years ago.
Enjoy the surrounding friendliness, availability of fine restaurants at reasonable cost, boutique shops, and the beauty of a well preserved slice of Americana in all directions of the Camus Hotel.

Admittedly the options for staying in Camas are limited, but this old place has that charm that will allow you to sit back and soak in a bit of the charm of yesteryear, and to be conveniently located right smack in the middle of historic downtown Camas.
The Camas Hotel is the oldest remaining building downtown (of 1911, I recall). Our en-suite room was located on the 2nd floor and fulfilled our expectations. The 3rd floor offers a number of rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Michael in the lobby was very helpful, offering suggestions for food, beverage and even a quiet local trail to visit.
Walking outside the hotel, one is confronted with a number of dining and sipping experiences, all within a few minutes walk of your front door.
COVID-concerned? Not to worry, as the hotel has taken reasonable precautions. And yes, local restaurants are open, even if you must don a mask upon entry.
Enjoy your stay!

Our stay was disappointingly adequate. The rooms while clean and modestly well appointed, were extraordinarily small and extremely noisy with both building noise and more significantly other guests. We were acutely aware of the other guests’ activities, with ALL of the intimate details.
The front desk staff was almost surly in their communication. They were generally unknowledgeable about restaurants in the vicinity. When they informed us that the Hotel parking lot was unavailable due to flooding, they were either unwilling or unable to offer alternative parking arrangements, other than timed street parking. Either way, getting any information that would be traditionally available from the concierge at other hotels was provided adequately and with indifference.
In all, our experience was sufficient considering the price, but nothing much to speak of, it felt like a youth hostel. And for a hotel that bills themselves as a “luxury boutique experience”, it did not feel luxurious and boutique only in that it was tiny, loud and needing to negotiate narrow steep stairwells.
Next time we will seek other accomadations.

I stayed in this hotel for about 10 days and had the best hotel experience of the year. The housekeepers did a very good job, the guests were all very quiet and respectable. All the restrooms and mini kitchen were very well maintained and exceptionally clean. Beautiful location and beautiful design....thank you Michael and staff for making a warm, memorable experience.

Gorgeous little downtown area. Lovely hotel.
A few glitches at check in and check out. First, the receipt they gave me to sign was considerably less than what hotels.com charged me. A first in my experience. I mentioned it to them as they might be getting shorted. Then I inquired about the breakfast. It’s a voucher for a cafe down the street. The voucher was only available in the morning between 7-9 AM.
They did store our bikes for us upon request as the hotel has no elevator. Free parking was available down the street for our car.
Next morning, we show up downstairs at 7:15 AM. Sign says return at 8 AM, and no one answers the buzzer at front desk. We walk down the street, found the place, and they were gracious enough to serve us without a voucher. Then at check out I had to ask a few times about our bicycles in back. A little distracted. For such a small number of rooms, I met with three different desk clerks and felt there wasn’t really management present. If they improve staffing, five stars should be easily achieved.

The location is the only reason to stay at this hotel. We arrived at approximately 3:45pm, and had a wedding to attend at 5pm nearby. Our suite with attached bath had no hot water, and despite multiple calls nothing was fixed and no attempt was made to move us to another room. We were offered access to the communal bathroom above, which also had no hot water. The problem was not fixed until the following morning. Room was fairly small, and felt overly humid. Bathroom had a disassembled towel rack as well; something that could have been fixed very quickly. Hair dryer additionally did not work. Would not stay again.

Thank you for the review. We apologize that our newly trained staff did not address your concerns, and that maintenance was not available to fix the hot water. Our new owners are working diligently on all of the above issues, as the previous owners left the hotel in a state of disarray. We hope that you give us another chance once this beautiful historic hotel is brought back up to her high standards. Take care.

A delightfully appointed vintage hotel in a delightfully charming small town, mere minutes from Vancouver and Portland, but more economical than chain hotels there. Due to a/c malfunction on an unseasonably warm day, the very personable manager gave us a free upgrade to an "ensuite room," thereby getting the included free breakfast at the fine adjacent cafe. A bright 2d floor "atrium" offers seating when not in use for, say, the evening wine tasting. Free on-street parking. Not mentioned till we checked in: in-room fridge and coffeemaker, with microwave available. We enjoyed exploring the intriguing shops in the immediate neighborhood, including a specialty vinegar and olive oil purveyor. And well groomed parks and trails along the Columbia, with great signage, were a short drive away. We'll be back.

Hi there, yes we just converted 3 detached rooms into 2 Ensuite rooms, leaving a total of 8 remaining detached (economically friendly) rooms. We feel the ratio of 8 detached rooms to 2 shared bathrooms is better then the prior 11 to 2 ratio. The Camas Hotel is now a 23 room hotel made up of 15 ensuite rooms and 8 detached bath rooms.
Thank you for your feedback and looking forward to your next stay!
