Hello! My name is Nicole! My husband Patrick and I were curious about the Camano Island Inn, and being off season right now, we were able to get a discounted rate here at this lovely establishment!! I’ve never been in a hotel where there was NO staff! It was so amazing! We were aloud to have little snacks and beverages for free in their nice kitchen, rooms stocked with wine glasses, and everything we need for a romantic evening.. there are two decks that have the most breath taking views, I literally cried at the awesomeness of God’s creation!! We were able to use the amenities upstairs and they even supplied binoculars for whale watching!! Also.. the rooms are very elegant! Super comfy beds and get this!.. Hot Tubs on the first floor for 5 of the rooms! To be honest, this was our second visit this month lol! On the first visit, the power was going on and off, but it was very romantic and fun!!
I’m very glad to come to this hotel! Brooke and her husband are amazing hosts! The breakfast is outstanding!! Bacon, Frittatas! Fresh juice, coffee and flavors as well!! Trust me, if you’re looking for a private romantic getaway! Come to this hotel and rekindle your passion! Thank you Camano Island Inn! You have customers for life here!!:)🥰

The room was dated but clean. comfortable bed. The primary reason we got this room was for sitting on the deck and enjoying the view. The chairs on the deck were so worn that they had holes in the seat and the view was obstructed by an un-trimmed hedge. Went to another sitting area on the property and grounds needed weeding and up keep

We stayed in room number 1 - huge hot tub, luxurious bed, charming deck with a view, clean, WONDERFUL, we could have stayed in there for days... Besides the massage we booked which was glorious, our experience ended when we left the room. Beach is hard to access. Breakfast was non-existent - all guests had eaten it by the time we got there. When we found out it was boiled eggs served on collard greens, we had lost our appetite. We had to beg for a glass of orange juice and a bagel - the friendly but aloof manager told us their food order was delayed but it lacked an apologetic air. Lastly, I was very frustrated with my reservation process. I reserved a room thru Booking.com, which Camano Inn has a sticker on their front door saying they are a partner of theirs... but my reservation was never processed on the Camano Island Inn's side, despite me getting an email confirmation. When I discovered this and suspected this was 100% booking.com's error, the Camano Inn made it 100% my problem. The Camano Island's Inn response was "well, did you get a confirmation email from us? If not, then you don't have a room." - how am I supposed to know to expect two confirmation emails and the one that Booking.com sent was not sufficient? I did not get the room I originally selected via the booking.com website (although room 1 was delightful), and luckily, a view room was still available. The only reason I discovered I did not have a reservation was when I called to make reservations at their restaurant - once we cleared up the mistake and booked room 1, we made the restaurant reservation. Only to discover a day later via a voice mail from the manager that the restaurant is actually closed that day. At that point, I was entirely ready to cancel the entire trip, but it was 2 days before we were scheduled to arrive. Frustrating. All in all, this is a good place to stay, but the hassle made it frustrating, the food was ridiculous, and I think I would select the Inn at Langley which is in the same price range over the Camano Island Inn.

Response from Susan H, General Manager at Camano Island Inn
Responded Aug 13, 2015
Dear LBCastle, First of all let me thank you for writing a review...We are so pleased that you loved your room...room 1 is one of my favorites! You are correct, we love our massage therapist they will completely melt away any stresses that a person's body is holding onto. Of course we appreciate all comments and listen to our guest to make appropriate changes. The beach access we are working on a solution as Island County's requirements are strict, but promise it will be fixed very soon. Our breakfast has been changed back to AMAZING and we are sorry that with the rest of your stay being so great that you didn't enjoy the breakfast. You should NEVER have to beg for anything and when letting a staff member know there is a problem you should be given the most sincere apology ever! Additional training has been given to the person who helped you with your reservation...it is our pleasure to help you with anything even if that means contacting booking.com ourselves, so our deepest apologies for the manner in which this was handled! Unfortunately, during the Winter and Spring our restaurant is closed two days out of the week with the exception of breakfast, it will always be served to each of our inn guest. In the Summer we open back to 7 days a week. We would love to remain open 7 days all year, but we just don't get enough island or guest traffic to support kitchen staff. It is our job to let all of our guest know our restaurant hours upon making the reservations and include this information in your confirmation, as well as give you other Camano Island restaurant information to patron during your visit with us. Again I am very sorry that you felt it was a hassle and that you were full of frustration that is never our intent...we don't always get things right but we do at the very least expect 100% effort! Wishing you the very best remainder of your Summer and we do hope that you both will return to enjoy the changes that we have made to our breakfast. Have a beautiful day, Susan - GM

After many years on Trip Advisor, I believe I have only written one other negative review. So, I typically look on the sunny side of travel. But, this experience was so disappointing that I had to write a review.

If you looked at the photos on Expedia or on the Inn's website, you expected a lovely room with views of the Puget Sound and perhaps even a hot tub. All of the rooms, except Room #8 are exactly as advertised.

This is not one of those rooms.

This a storage room that has been (in my opinion) turned into a hotel room. It is not on the water. It faces a tiny parking "lot". It is really dark (see my photo and not the one on the website). The window near the bed faces a neighboring home's front yard. Cars are about 5 feet from the room and you can hear each vehicle as it flies by. This room is almost dangerous, as you are so close to the road. The shower is tiny.

The hotel management called me 24 hours in advance of our stay to warn me that the Expedia posting for this room is incorrect and that we had booked an "inside room". It is NOT an inside room. It is a room that is on a road, with the sound of cars wizzing by your bed and has no view. Why rent this room at all???? (See photo of my husband standing next to the room's entrance.)

This room is so disappointing that when we arrived, we simply went home. I am now out hundreds of dollars and our first weekend away after quarantine is ruined.

What breaks my heart is that we walked the small grounds and admired the view just before we went to the room. The site is lovely....for guests who have all but Room #8.

Even if I could book one of the nicer rooms in the future I wouldn't return. I cannot support an Inn whose management would rent this type of room to unsuspecting travelers.

We were extremely disappointed in this Inn. What is represented on the website is not at all what it feels like when you get there. It is in what could be a beautiful spot on the water, but the property and building are run down and look deserted. not a Car in the parking lot. Yard not kept up at all. We rented on a weeknight and were given a code to the building and then an envelope was left for us with our room number and code. There was NO ONE in the place...and looked like they would only have one other room rented that evening. The room was old, and smelled musty. The deck (First floor with Hot tub) was in very bad shape, windows needed washing, etc. The minute we saw the room and deck, we decided we couldn't stay. Felt almost like being in a horror movie. We immediately got on the phone to find a place back to Seattle (an hour plus drive back). Web site shows and speaks to a much more elegant place and experience, and that is not what you get. I can say that they did give us our money back, which we appreciate. Feel badly to say we would highly discourage renting this place and hope the owners are able to get it back to what it once must have been.

When we got there the inn seemed nice and we had a beautiful view. But over the course of the two days we were disappointed that it was not really that clean and was poorly maintained. We found an envelope with directions for breakfast . And although it said there was a buffet breakfast the girl setting it up the next morning said they dont do that anymore. There was a continental breakfast the first day with a decent selection, but the second day there was hardly any food. And there were several places asking for a gratuity. I am not sure for what. The bed wasnt made up between the two days or any fresh towels so was very curious why a gratuity envelope was left. Based on the price and the pictures I expected more. This place has so much potential if the management would just do the minimum

It's seriously run down - no one at the front desk at all, some bags of Chex Mix and bottled water at the unmanned reception. Room 6 had no robes (as were advertised as being included), a bathroom fan so dirty we had to clean it ourselves (after asking the one person briefly present at the inn whether she had a feather duster or a broom so we could clean it ourselves to which she replied that the dust was "unremovable and maintenance would be there in the morning"), no ice machine ("a guest broke it, maintenance will be here in the morning,") no coffee in the morning unless we made it ourselves in a seriously dingy looking pot in the front area. A hedge in front of room 6 made it a no-view room when one sat on the veranda. For $250 a night, do not recommend.

I was so excited to finally get to stay here. Sadly, it was not a good experience. I’m fairly certain no one else was there but us. No staff and no other guests. That was just weird. A previous guest’s dirty laundry was in the dresser but there was no one to tell so there it sat. We booked room 6 because we wanted to sit out and watch the water, the hedge was WAY too high to do that. When I booked, the website said a continental breakfast was available, there was only 2 day old coffee and it’s since been removed from the website. Dirty glasses were in the bin our entire stay. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was very dirty. There were no hangers and no where to hang clothes. It has so much potential but sadly, it’s not a place I’d ever stay again or recommend to anyone.

I am one to follow the “If you don’t have something nice to say…” rule. But I truly want to save others from a bad experience on a beautiful island. There is simply no one running this place. The previous review says it well. I will only add that not even the pillows are decent. Five small wads of lumps on my king sized bed.. And pillows are easy to fix in such a small place. For $250/night, you will have a much better experience across the water at Captain Whidbey.

Do not book this hotel.

The website is totally misleading leading and the property looks nothing like the pictures depict.

The room was dirty, unkempt and on need of serious maintenance. The bathroom was disgusting and in need of a total renovation. The shower water never got above lukewarm. The outdoor deck off the room was dirty, moldy and in need of repair.

The property is overgrown, littered with trash and not maintained.

There are zero amenities and the bistro is no more.

At $200/night is a total rip off.

It is clear the owners do not care.

Room 1 is further from the kitchen, but closer to the dining room. And, it's deck is right next to the outdoor dining space. We stayed in 4 and weren't bothered by being closer to the kitchen. Enjoy!
