My family decided to visit Bellingham for the weekend, so I made this hotel reservation on short notice. I picked this hotel because it had a room with two queen beds and accepted pets. Also, because it had good online reviews from travelers.

The hotel itself is tucked away off the main road so we didn't hear any traffic noise. The lobby, hallways, and breakfast areas appeared very clean and tidy. Our room was also clean, however it had a noticable smell of smoke right as we entered. It definitely did not smell like the hallway or lobby (which had no smoke odor). I explained the situation to the desk clerk and was told the hotel was full and there were no other rooms available. He offered to bring up an ionizer which he claimed would clear the air up in 30 mins. A very nice & friendly room attendant immediately came up and activated the ionizer, however, it didn't seem to help. The smell wasn't totally unbearable, but it definitely made our stay unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Other than the smoke issue, the room was very nice. Microwave, fridge, and Kurieg coffee maker worked well. The beds were just the right softness and my wife and I had no issues sleeping. The bathroom was fairly large and we weren't bothered by any noise from the nearby rooms. The air conditioner worked marginally well, but at the lowest temp setting it didn't get very cold. There's only one elevator for the 3 floor hotel and it operated very slowly. Internet speeds from the free WiFi was fairly fast (for a hotel) at 25 mbps up/down.

Pets are allowed with a fee of $15 per night.

The free breakfast spread was surprisingly good, with options for cooked cheese omelette, crisp bacon, turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy, cold cereal, fruit, and bagels. Brewed coffee and dispensed juice was also available. The best item available in my opinion were the signature hot cinnamon rolls -- very tasty!

So in summary I found this hotel to be very nice with very friendly staff. The only issue was the smoky smell in our room and not having any options to sufficiently correct the issue. I was surprised that the staff didn't offer some kind of discount for the room since there were "customer satisfaction" signs everywhere in the lobby and room.

We always enjoy the high quality of Holiday Inn Express visits, but this was well above average. We stayed one night on 12/28/2019, and based on that experience, returned for a second night on 1/4/2020. Both stays were excellent. The staff member who checked us in the first night remembered me and our previous conversation. She made me feel like returning family. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was fresh and scrupulously attended. The pool and hot tub were also perfectly maintained.

If I had one very small quibble it was that the AC outlets in the lamps between the queen beds in both of our rooms were so loose & worn out that our phone chargers didn't work overnight. Those outlets were probably fixable but it may not be worth the cost of doing so. Switching to a different AC outlet got the job done for us.

Dear David Thank you for all the kind words about your stay and our staff. We love to hear that we make our guest feel at home. We will look into if there is a different option for lamps we can put in our rooms that have outlets. We appreciate the feedback so we can improve any future stays. Hope to see you again soon.

We had the queen jr. suite room for three days. It was clean and spacious with all the amenities including a fridge/freezer and loveseat in a separate sitting area. Room was in great shape with the exception of a sticky bathroom door. I didn't like that there were no USB/charger connections in the room, even at the room desk (so don't forget to bring your charger). That said, we did bring a charger so it was no problem. The WiFi was great. Easy to connect to and very fast. Full breakfast was free and included eggs that switched daily from scrambled to cheese or veggie omelets. and a variety of meats like pork or turkey sausage patty's, or links, oh, and biscuits and gravy. There is a selection of fruits and cold cereal along with hot oatmeal, bread, muffin's, and warm cinnamon rolls. Make your own pancakes in an automated machine. Coffee, tea, milk and juices available as well. Something for everyone. We liked the outside dining area that was well spaced out. Did I mention the warm Cinnamon rolls? (Grin). Pool is warm and hot tub is relaxing. We enjoyed the pool after 10pm when it is "adults only" until midnight. We were usually the only ones in there at that time. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. All staff were masked up. Can't say enough good things about our stay.

Just stayed here for an overnight. A very pleasant stay, staff are all friendly, professional and willing to help when needed. Hot breakfast included in the stay which they offer (e.g. bacon, sausage patties, cheese omelets, veggie/egg white omelets, scrambled eggs, various breads, pancakes, juices, milk, coffee, etc...). Very clean and well kept and across from the mall.
The sports bar "Extreme Sports Bar and Grill" is great! Good quality selection of beers, wines, and alcohol, also really amazing BBQ selection and choices. Our wait staff "Rachel, Scooter, and Sarah", worked really hard to give us a super experience. I ordered the half rack of pork ribs with shoe string fries, excellent choice. Though I forgot about the primerib special, next time! The wife ordered a Mediterranean pizza and she said it was great.
Will definitely come back here the next time we're in town to visit.

We just stayed one night as a part of our road trip. The hotel is located out of downtown but is very comfortably accessible from one of the town's main roads. The town centre is around 10 mins away by car. We had a nice room with a very comfy bed. As all HI expresses, they don't have a restaurant on site but cooperate with a grill place nearby, and you get a discount voucher for over there. Breakfast is nothing to mention. Would stay again.

It's been a number of years since my last review of this hotel and like many, our yearly travel came to an abrupt halt due to Covid. Returning after a three years break, my husband and I were happy to find ourselves in a friendly and familiar place again. The decor was just as cheerful and welcoming as I remembered.

I reminisced back to the days when we made our annual trip to the Bellingham soccer tournament as a family with three young kids. How time flies and now we found ourselves visiting as a couple catching our flight to Vegas but always enjoying an overnight stay.

Over the years we have seen countless hotel staff came and gone, but there is this special lady who has been a constant. She served us breakfast year after year, and we came to look forward to her quiet and kind demeanor on every visit. I'm sure she can offer many tips and tricks about customer service, as she somehow always managed to ensure food trays were never empty, that they were served at a perfect temperature, and tables were kept cleaned. If you really had to run, she made sure there were 2go bags so you would not leave hungry. If you had a question, she would always politely help you with a smile.

I would like to dedicate this review to this special lady and long term employeed.
I sincerely hope that HI will take the time to recognize the greatest asset of the your hotel, it's all about your people! Happy 25th anniversary to the lady who always put a smile on our stay, we hope to see you for many more years to come:)

Excellent stay. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Fridge AND microwave in the room. Fridge was bigger than most hotels have.
Breakfast was exceptional. Eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits & gravy, pancake making machine, large muffins (possibly Costco), oatmeal that is soft and not hard or lumpy, cold cereal, milk cartons, Chobani yogurt, bagels, bread for toast, juice machine with 3 different juices, hot chocolate, and coffee. What more could you want? Maybe a waffle maker, but we were ok without waffles.
Highly recommend this hotel.

Check in was quick and the desk staff were pleasant.

The room was decent sized and appeared to be clean.

The bed was clean and comfortable

There was good lighting and plenty of outlets

The AC worked well

The room had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, but no safe

The room had a decent size TV with good channel selections

They had a pretty decent gym with free weights

There was a pool and hot tub which appeared to be clean

except for idiots slamming doors at 0500 the hotel was quiet.

Breakfast fine eggs, rolls, yogurt, and cinnamon rolls.

There were some good restaurants nearby, one within walking distance

overall it was a pleasant stay
