The Bolling Wilson Hotel was originally built in 1927 as the George Wythe Hotel where it operated until the late 1960's. At that time, it was touted as a fire proof building due to its solid construction, which was important at the time as so many small towns had experienced fires which demolished many of their service facilities. When the property opened you could rent a room for $1.50 for a single and $2.50 for a double, how things have changed! There have been many a wedding and celebration held in the old George Wythe Hotel some 40 years ago and many more to come as the Bolling Wilson Hotel. Since its closure as a hotel in the 1970's it has enjoyed many lives as a bank. When the last bank decided to move and the building became available it was purchased by Bill and Farron Smith of Smith Enterprises, in 2010.

We loved this hotel. The history of the hotel is so interesting and the way they have modernized it is wonderful. They took great caution in making the hotel safe from Covid 19. The bed was amazingly comfy. The staff was super.

Beautiful hotel centrally located in downtown Wytheville. Walking distance to a couple restaurants. Hotel restaurant is highly rated but we did not eat there this visit. Plenty of parking, on property and on street. Room was a king suite but we found it a bit small, however the building is historic so I think this is typical. Bathroom was HUGE! Will definitely stay again.

My husband and I love to stay at historic hotels. The Bolling Wilson Hotel had very clean rooms and a friendly staff! The bathroom was larger than most older hotels. The Graze on Main Restaurant is conveniently inside the hotel.

We live in Tennessee and my wife’s family lives in Virginia. As we trek back and forth to visit we like staying at older historic hotels when possible. We have stayed in Marion many time at the General Francis Marion many times as it is a good half way point. This year we decided to try a different hotel which was the Bolling Wilson Hotel in Wytheville. The hotel is very convenient located on Main Street in the heart of downtown, that allows for easy walking to shopping and dining. Even though it was very cold that night we walked a few blocks to the Log House – good food with an exceptional gift shop. The gardens were dormant but it was easy to tell they offer a lot of interest during the growing season. Being a Monday night the hotel restaurant was closed but we heard it is good. The hotel itself has some neat features – one of which is a roof top terrace with nice views of Wytheville. The best part of the hotel is the main reason anyone goes to a hotel which is a place to spend the night. The bed was very comfortable, the linens were soft and smooth, and the pillows we so perfect we pulled off the pillow cases to see who made them so we can buy some for our bed! After long hours of driving this is exactly what we needed so thank you to the friendly Bolling Wilson staff and Cecil who was super nice. Last but not least, we recently crossed over a milestone in life so the fact the hotel offers senior citizen discount was appreciated!

We stayed here for one night, really only hoping for a pet tolerant place to sleep. We found so much more! Concierge and staff are super nice. Very smooth check in and check out. The room was great. Exceptionally clean. Towels and linens were super soft. Bed was very comfy and the room was nice and dark. They are very pet welcoming, bringing water and happy for us to eat from the restaurant (Graze on Main), just at an outdoor table with our dog. The food was amazing. They even prepared a meal for the dog! As for COVID protocols, we felt very safe. Masks, sanitizer, social distancing, take away/outdoor meals and in addition to the room, the hotel and grounds are immaculate. No wonder this place is no. 1 in town and deservedly so. A really welcoming experience and a place we would detour for, to stay again.
