This campground it's truly a hidden gem. The campground is very wooded and shaded with all the campsites being semi private. The majority of the sites have electric and several have water. There are several clean restrooms throughout the campground all with private showers. Remember to pick up all provision before arriving, including firewood.

This is a nice, peaceful campground close to the city of Wytheville. The sites are all wooded and very spacious. One caveat - if you are tent camping, make sure your chosen site has enough room for your tent. A lot of the sites are not appropriate for a large tent but most would accommodate a small tent. A nice... More

Our camping experience at Stony Fork was everything we hoped for, and so much more. We camped here in mid-October for three nights. We used our site as home base for our day trips -- one to western Virginia to rent bicycles and ride the Creeper Trail at Abingdon, and one to the New River Bridge Day in West Virginia.... More

Stopped in for a single night in our 16' rv. Many sites with 30 amp and water directly at site for only $22/night. Private wooded and fairly level pads. Clean bathhouse. Quiet and remote feeling, but only 4 miles from I-77. Pet friendly. So glad we didn't have to go to any commercial campground! Will definitely visit again.

Great sites, not to close to the next site, clean, paved. We were told by others campers that the hot water heater was just replaced, the water was to hot to take a shower in, the park host was told and he made the adjustment in 15 minutes. You can't ask for more than that. This place get very high... More

Beautiful setting nestled in the hills. Sites are paved and many have both electric and water. Restrooms basic but clean. Best to avoid sites by the water, however due to risk of flooding. It is a bit of a drive for any essentials so make sure you have everything.

Even the rain could not dampen our camping experience at Stony Fork Campground. The Campground has a nice loop for walking, and many friendly campers were out and about. We were not able to get satellite or WiFi reception, even after moving to another spot where it looked like we had a better signal. (Yeah, yeah, I know - we... More

Stony Fork is a small campground, only one loop, located in a wooded area at the foot of Big Walker Mountain. A stream meanders throughout. It is nothing fancy. There is no playground, pool, store, laundry or office. Serenity and beauty are its biggest attractions. Restrooms and showers are modern and very clean. The cost is $12.00 per night with... More

A stay in the pictured cabin or in the nearby campsites is a great break from reality. The Stony Fork Campground is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Jefferson National Forest http://www.fs.usda.gov/gwj It feels like part of the U.S. National Park system inside the U.S. Department of the Interior http://www.doi.gov , and some reservations for it can be made... We had a one night stay over on our drive from atlanta to Erie, pa. We made a reservation on the internet and arrived around 5 pm. Our site, 48, was shady and wooded. We were tent camping and happy with the arrangement. Our site had no water or electricity, but many others did. The bathrooms were clean and the... More
