We rented one of their exclusive homes called the Mountain Pearl. The home was absolutely gorgeous and comfy. I was amazed by the amount of space and the gorgeous decor. However, the home had a lot of millipedes on the lower level. We stayed from Wednesday to Saturday and placed over 50 millipedes back outside and into the woods. I am absolutely aware of the different insects that can be found in the mountains, but felt the home should have been protected better against the insects. We had to keep everything off the floor to avoid them crawling into out bags. At checkout I was asked about my stay. I informed them that everything was really nice except the millipedes being everywhere. It would have been nice to receive part of my payment back, but I think they were more so in shock that there were millipedes in the home.…
My teenage son and I went to ski for the day and he ended up losing his phone on the slopes. Everywhere we asked, from ski patrol to lift operators to guest services, the staff were extremely kind and sympathetic and went out of their way to help us find it. Eventually, someone turned it in at the Mountain Inn and it still worked! We were relieved and grateful for the help we received.
This resort has the potential to be great! We come here because it's an easy drive from NC for my family to ski. We also like that all rentals are near the slopes. The skiing is great especially when cold and snowing. There are three main problems with this resort. First, if you rent directly through the Wintergreen Resort you have no ability to choose the property you are renting. No pictures and no options given to you. This trip the condo was not adequate and not worth the price I paid. It is definitely a gamble if you will get one that is adequate. Notice I did not even say nice. If you rent through VRBO or another avenue, you do not get resort privileges. That means you can not use the nice fitness center or heated pool or fine at the ONE nice restaurant, That brings me to the second problem here. There is one OK restaurant and one less than OK pizza place. That's it! I enjoy the lobby starbucks in the Inn. There was a second good restaurant but it hasn't been open since COVID. They claim they do not have the staff. If you are going for a 3-4 weekend, you need more options. We left the resort and found two adequate places to eat. The third problem is this resort has ZERO service. I mean ZERO. You ask a question from a staff member and either they say I don't know or they give you the wrong answer. The only place we got any service was at the ski rental guest services. I am not expecting RItz Carlton level service but this place is not cheap and after you pay for lift tickets and ski rentals and a condo you are in to this for a few thousand dollars. That's before you eat or go to the spa. There should be some service and definitely more food options.…
Tried for weeks to get a reservation for ski lessons and it’s impossible to get any kind of customer service. No response, unreturned emails, no one will return a call or answer the phone, just the absolute worst. Will definitely not return.
Stayed in the Mountain Inn which is very convenient for skiing and there are food options downstairs and close by. Parking is also close by. The room (170) was a loft and so very spacious, however, the thermometer is on the first floor close to the sliding glass doors and the heat actually comes out in the loft, so the downstairs is freezing while you roast upstairs in the stuffyness. There is no fireplace (for skiing that is nice) and the kitchenette is just a fridge and a microwave - I thought there would be bigger cooking area. There were some glasses, but only one plate and a fork? I'm not sure if anything else was supposed to be there, but I'm glad we didnt plan to make a lot of food there. The worst part about this was that it was not cleaned completely. Unfortunately, I did not notice these things until after my kid was asleep, but there were dirty glasses sitting by the sink, And in the shower, there were half used shampoo bottles and only one towel there. Clearly, this was not cleaned thoroughly, and with COVID, that's just not acceptable. The price is also about double what you pay to go to Massanutten and just as expensive as Snowshoe which has a lot more in it's rooms and access to hottubs/heated pool right outside.…
For our short retreat, we were specifically looking for a resort that had indoor Pickleball. Bonus is that it was in the mountains. We had private Pickleball lessons with Colleen and were very pleased with her instruction. She was observant and picked up on where my husband and I needed the most assistance. She frequently used analogies when explaining moves and tips of the game which made the teaching fun and relatable. Colleen was friendly and and positive and we will be sure to request her when we return. Our favorite feature of our condo was the amazing view of the mountains where we were able to watch a beautiful sunrise each morning. Our 2nd favorite feature was that the condo included a fireplace. We loved how the resort offered complimentary chopped wood and we took advantage of it each evening. We will be returning to Wintergreen!…
Difficult to locate facility. Checkin rep was notknowledgeable regarding facility. Attended for Joseph and the amazing dreamcost play. When I arrived there was pizza only food option. Place smelled musty inside building. Laundry facility was poor. Not well lit at night. Difficult parking to load/unload baggage. Now they bombard me with newsletters which their electronic unsubscribe option is not working.
I would not recommend a lodge room in the future. Main lobby dated. Carpets in desperate need of cleaning or replacement Fair warning seniors - no elevators Room 165 Basic living and kitchenette area Dirty sliding door with finger prints Door had been left open/unlocked No view - heating and A/C Two queens in loft - old bed frames and mattresses, no fitted sheets, worn bedding with stains Major dirt next to night stand and behind beds Worn and dated dresser and night stand - would discard Carpets need deep cleaning upstairs Floor uneven in bedroom area In need of painting Not enough plugs Loud appliance kept me up at night No extra towels Shower drain very slow Very basic TVs - 2 Should have read the reviews beforehand.
I went here to meet with family from various states and we at the restaurant on site, I do not recall its name. I ordered an iceburg wedge salad to share with my mother, it ended up being delivered as some sort of dark green lettuce salad. Not at ALL what I expected and for dressing I got packets to pour onto it myself. Not what I would expect from such a fancy resort. I ordered the salmon and no where in the description of this choice did it say it would be spicy, wow was it spicy. My mother ordered the BBQ ribs, there were 3 of them, really long like Fred Flintstone style and very tough. My cousin ordered a watermelon salad and it had way too much dressing on it. I do have to say the blondie brownie with ice cream for desert was HUGE and very good, I shared it with my aunt. The property is very pretty but I think it is very expensive to stay here.…
You have to know that each apartment is owned by a different owner. I was not lucky to enter mine (Diamond Hills, apt 948) a building smelling mold, with walls outside the apartment full of it, and antiquated furniture, bedding borderline neat inside. ~$250/night for a 2-bedroom condo. The apt looks 70s, with furniture that must be from thrift stores, appliance dated 10 years or more (dryer worked so so, kettle never worked, 2 chairs really damaged), beddings dated from my grand parents period. The bathrooms were very nice and well maintained but for the rest, I believe the owner may not be aware of the status in his apartment (maybe damaged by other tenants but the front desk did not know about it until I sent them pictures). For the resort, the area is very expensive compared to the beach resort considering there are barely any grocery stores within 7-8 miles. The Market is a gas station kind of store, with basic food (drinks, pizza, etc.) even if clean inside, and with a very nice staff). Kids activities, spa are expensive (even if the personnel is really nice and skilled). It is a resort for people who come for skiing, hiking or golfing, and do not need much time spent inside. So choose carefully if you plan kids entertainment and easy of access for everyday need.…
