We have stayed here in our RV for many years and have been somewhat satisfied mostly because of the proximity to Colonial Williamsburg. This year I came alone for a golf outing and rented a cabin. Big mistake! Stay in a hotel for less and get towels, sheets, pillows, blankets, a bathroom, soap, shampoo, a comfortable bed, a chair to sit on, a nice TV with real cable, you won't have to sweep it out or dispose of your own trash, and you won't have loud high-speed trains whizzing by and shaking your room all night about 20 feet away. Pretty much you are renting a wooden box about the size of a prison cell with similar amenities.

Wonderful park! Lots of things to do. Close to Williamsburg and Jamestown. Easy to catch a bus into Williamsburg. Nice staff. There is a train at the edge of the park but not a big deal. Also the dog park is really small. Would stay here again.

Beware. There is a high speed Amtrak train that borders this campground. We had difficulty sleeping as the train speeds through in evening and night hours. Our bed is located in the rear of our motorhome and we felt like we were 10 feet from the train. Our RV shuck as the train sped through and blew it's horns.

We recently camped at Anvil Campground, and it was one of the best camping experiences we've had as a family so far. The staff there was incredibly friendly, and they really made all the campers feel welcome and invited. They take the time to make the experience fun and all inclusive. We went during one of their Halloween weekends, and they had planned a weekend full of fun and free things for our kids to do (ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2). We really enjoyed the Halloween decorations and the time they put into them. My son also really loved the zip line in the beach playground and the game room. A lot of people have made a mention about how close the train is and for our family it was not a problem. My kids enjoyed seeing the train come by every now and then. The only family member that had an issue with the train was our dog. 10/10 would recommend a stay here.

This is a small campground which has several big rig friendly sites. The patio sites are very nice. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. Campstore is well stocked and friendly. This campsite is very close to Colonial Williamsburg. The only downside is the close proximity of railroad tracks. Immaculately clean.

Anvil Campground was in a great location for our visit to the historic triangle of Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, and Yorktown. We were due in at about the same time a tropical storm was forecast. I called to let them know we had to forfeit our first night. They offered without me even asking, to have a credit for that night stay that we could use so we added one night on at the end of our stay. That flexibility was great. The campground was clean and tidy, the laundry facilities were nice and clean, the sites had everything we needed.

Cute campground. Very convenient location. Can just hop on the bus down to Williamsburg (but keep an eye on the times because we missed the bus going back and had to take an Uber). Bathrooms were really nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. All of that made up for the extremely loud train that would come through every few hours. If you are a light sleeper, I’d suggest staying somewhere else. The train blares through at 3am and it’s like 5 minutes until it passes. Otherwise it’s a great spot.

What a wonderful trip. The campsites were roomy and located close to the store and pool. The staff was fantastic. Our Grandson Joshua had a blast and was in and out of the store several times a day. Ray, Brandyn and Penny were so kind to him. The store was well stocked with just about everything we needed. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our desire for an extra day at the last minute.

We recently stayed at this CG on deluxe site which was very nice with swing, picnic table/umbrella and fire pit so you did not need to set up anything. Yes there is a train but honestly at night with AC on, barely heard it. The ambulance/fire trucks from the road were louder but there is no control over that. The CG is small but that makes it what it is known for. The pool, bathhouse, store was all perfectly adequate for anyone needs. Staff was great and helpful and ice cream socials were awesome! If anything, our kids said they had best game room ever as everything was free just wished it stayed open past 8pm. Location is perfect to visit Busch Gardens and Williamsburg. Would stay again as the CG is what you make of it and the negative reviews are just wrong.
