This Bed-n-Breakfast is lovely and in a perfect location for a visit to Williamsburg. We stayed in the Jefferson room, which has an outside entrance. There's an eye for detail and if you want info on politics, this is the place. The breakfasts are incredible. Stuffed French toast with a berry compote one day and frittata with potatoes were amazing. The hosts are friendly, with a conservative tilt. Our room was beautiful, and cleaned very well. The grounds are very pretty as well, with pretty gardens in which to relax on a pretty day.
As someone who never writes reviews, it is absolutely worth it to write one for this beautiful bed and breakfast. My husband and I visited for four nights in early August, in the Lincoln room, and it was perfection. It felt very private, the room was extremely clean, and the separate bathrooms were a nice feature. As someone who really appreciates good cooking, I am still wishing I was there for breakfasts. Every breakfast Debbie cooked could not have been better. The breakfast enchiladas....my word. The wine and port available downstairs, and dessert snack, each day were a special touch! Debbie and John could not have been more hospitable and friendly to be around. The location of the White House is only about a 10 minute walk from historic Williamsburg and multiple great dining spots. Honestly, we continue to say how glad we were to have had this time away and that it really was in the perfect place. Thank you!! We will be back! And, as a travel agent who can be a bit of a hotel snob sometimes, I 100% recommend a stay here!…
The inn was so lovely. Our room was beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful and our hosts John and Debbie were great. They were full of information as to where to go and places eat. Would recommend this to all.
The rooms and house are very pretty, but I expected a little more courtesy and attention to detail for a $200/night stay. I stopped by 90 minutes before check in and asked if I could drop my bag and use the restroom. I was told "no." Later that night, I knocked on one of the doors marked "Private" to ask if there was any place to get hot water to make tea, and the owner told me that he could heat up water for me, but that they were in the middle of dinner. I left a day early without asking for a refund because the bed was uncomfortable and the hospitality made me feel unwelcome.
We spent 2 days at A White House in Williamsburg, VA, with our daughter’s in-laws. John and Debbie are excellent hosts; the accommodations were cozy and spotless; the breakfast was delicious; recommendations for local restaurants were spot-on. We had a very pleasant visit, and we can assure others that they will have a similar experience.
