I like it here. This is my third week-long stay since mid-Feb. Apartments are clean, fresh, and spacious especially compared to the competitors in town (dismal by comparison for the same price). Everything works. Staff are great. I’m here for family business and not for vacay and have had to work remotely from the apartment; it’s gone well, but every single time I have loud and completely inconsiderate neighbors. Like a 5-10pm party with a loud speaker and DJ, my walls vibrating from their music - you know the deal. And this was on a Weds night. Last trip similar loud music at 3:30pm on a Thursday during my work zoom meeting, different apartment, different people. Today one resident rang my doorbell repeatedly for 20 minutes wanting to gain entry to the foyer by their apartment door (there are 2 doorbells, guess they rang them both not caring that one would be mine). Anyway my multi-visit sample of Powhatan suggests this type of behavior taints the experience on a regular basis (last night - during the Weds party- I did call security about the noise but it was over an hour before they turned it off). It’s a party crowd who seem ignorant of basic social courtesies. Get watcha pay for I guess.

We stayed at the resort for the week and now I have have bedbug bites all up and down my legs. I tried contacting the resort and they asked me to submit pictures. I asked for a refund but they asked me to send a letter by mail to the corporate office with evidence, even though I already submitted pictures. I am unhappy, to say the least.

COVID-19 restrictions are lifting state-wide. The resort had almost all amenities, historical house, general store, coffee shop, and restaurant completely closed. We were very disappointed with still paying the per night amenities fee. I still gave it a 4 because, if the amenities fees were waved OR things were open (even with some restrictions), I would be completely satisfied! Beautiful grounds and pleasant staff.

Thank you for the candid feedback. Our staff prides itself on being responsive and forthright - which is why for all sites and reservation confirmations, our $20.95/day resort fee is fully disclosed. The resort fee does cover the usage and upkeep of the open amenities. During this time, given the Governors restrictions, the below are and have been still open: Mini-golf – Open from 9am-7pm weather permitting Tennis Courts open – checkout equipment at mini-golf hut Volleyball court open – checkout ball at mini-golf hut Basketball court open - checkout ball at mini-golf hut Playgrounds open Horse shoe pits – checkout horse shoes at mini-golf hut Gas & charcoal BBQ grills Catch & release fishing in ponds open - guest supply own equipment Movie nights from the comfort of your unit - *scheduled nights Grab & Go crafts available - *scheduled days We continue to look for ways to safely provide additional amenities to our guests. The Historic Powhatan Resort sincerely hopes this will not deter you from allowing us another opportunity to present you with a phenomenal vacation experience you deserve.

Check-in was okay. Checkout a breeze. Staff very friendly. Asked for a newer room...I think I said renovated. We had two-two bedrooms with a lockout for the upstairs. Very very clean. Quiet. Furniture in great shape. Wi-Fi... Eh... Great location. Amenity resort fees are in my opinion a scam to get more money especially during Covid. Just charge a few dollars more.... I didn't see many people using the facilities included in resort fee and the Wi-Fi was SLOW. And then you have to pay more for premium. Bed was very comfortable. Only big gripe was that there was not enough hot water to relax in the bath tubs that were a little too narrow and difficult to get out of. TV screens were goid as was the programming. One thing I did not like was you are ushered to a staff person who was too aggressive in wanting you to attend a time share presentation. I get the fact that this is a timeshare Resort, and I can tell you from previous experience timeshares are the worst Investments. You can buy timeshares on the open market for as little as a dollar. The rip comes from the yearly maintenance fees that are probably not even used for maintenance fees in their total amount charged. So you may ask did I have a timeshare to use? No... my girlfriend did. But her timeshare was from her mother's from many many years ago was virtually cost nothing. I did have a timeshare, and I was fortunate to get out without using any of those rip off companies the promise to get rid of your timeshare. Being in the legal profession, I figured out a way to do it. As far as Resorts would go, I definitely come back if I can get the same room setup. It's always a good thing to ask for renovated rooms, because the timeshare maintenance fees are supposed to go towards refurbishing or renovating rooms, which is not always the case.
