We booked a single night at the Sampler on a whim. We were spending the day at Busch Gardens, and after a full day of 98 degree (felt like 101) we thought maybe the 3 hour drive home would be a bit much, and wanted to stay somewhere nearby. The pictures do not do this place justice. You’re greeted as soon as you walk in by the friendliest staff, and given a brief tour of the downstairs. They offer free coffee, soda, and waters, and beers for $3 in a newly renovated, GORGEOUS kitchen. The entire downstairs is FULL of the most unique antiques and interesting finds (some historic, some not). It’s incredibly eclectic, and doesn’t feel cluttered. Everything is EXTREMELY clean, and you can quite literally feel that the owners and staff genuinely care about the property and take excellent care of it. We stayed in the “Lord Nelson Chamber”. The bed was HUGE and genuinely the most comfy bed ever. I slept like a rock and honestly don’t even know if my partner was snoring or not because I was so comfortable. The shower has these incredible jets. Genuinely the most relaxing experience after a long day outside. Breakfast was served at 8:30. The table was set, and the food was AMAZING. They had Turkey sausages and eggs and fruit and it was just so good. They encourage a group dining situation so all guests can chat and get to know one another. We were so sad to have only spent one night here. But we will be absolutely coming back and staying for multiple nights. I almost didn’t want to write a review out of fear of this place getting booked up forever in advance. But it truly deserves all the stars.…
We were there for four nights stayed in the King William Suite, which was large by B&B standards with a sitting area and a fantastic, private deck overlooking the woods in back. The room was very quite and easy to sleep in. The house was very interesting with a library and sitting room at the front of the house, and a living room at the back of the house, all filled with delightful curiosities to occupy your time when not out at the historic sites. A key amenity is the coffee machine with as wide a selection as any commercial coffee house, always a welcome treat. However, the real treat was the owner, Ike, who was there each morning and evening to talk with the guests, ask about our daily travels, provide suggestions, and act as the consummate host. A true gentleman, witty, friendly, and knowledgeable, he made the house feel like a home!…
Spent 4 nights at the Wiliiamsburg Sampler and even in the mist of the kitchen remodel had a fabulous breakfast every morning! The convenience of the location was wonderful. The room was clean even though there are a lot of "things" to dust. Ike is a treasure and the whole group works in harmony to insure that you have a lovely experience.
My family and I spent 3 nights at the Sampler over this past Spring Break, and we had a wonderful time at Ike's place. We felt like we were staying with friends, and not only with the proprietor and staff, but with the other guests as well. Breakfast was filling, the showers were awesome, and the bed in the King William Suite was super-duper comfy. If we come back to the area in the future, we're sure to stay at The Williamsburg Sampler.
We had a lively time at this delightful gem of a B & B. Ike and Stephanie made our trip to Williamsburg even better than expected. The atmosphere and Ike’s memorabilia are not to be missed. And ever morning’s breakfast set the tone for a great day. I would definitely return and stay here.
This was our second stay at the Sampler. After years of staying in local Williamsburg hotels we heard about this place and love everything about it. Ike and Laura are the most gracious hosts. The inn is cozy and and sings of Williamsburg. The breakfast is to die for. Every morning your awakened to the smell of a home cooked delicious food and great conversation.
We recently spent two nights at the Williamsburg Sampler and had a wonderful time! The room was beautiful and so comfortable. We had a suite with a cute little balcony so there was plenty of space. Ike was a great host, and breakfast was delicious. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, even to Colonial Williamsburg. It was a great trip made even better by the lovely accommodations.
This property is in an ideal location, can easily walk to Merchant Square shops in the historic area or do a two minute drive. Breakfast was plentiful but nothing special. The room was really, really small so make sure you try and rent a suite. The entire home was filled with many, many, many collectibles , possibly too many. It resulted in an almost claustrophobic experience. The owner and support staff were really nice and enjoyable to talk with.
My friend & I stayed 3 nights here as we checked out the historic triangle on our annual "history nerd" road trip. Loved this B&B & highly recommend it. Ike is warm, welcoming, & hilarious. Stephanie made sure we were well-nourished daily with large hot breakfasts, as well as travel tips for the area. I stayed in the King William Suite & my friend stayed in the Eliza Reynold room. Both were very comfortable & clean. The location of the B&B is excellent if you're looking to visit Colonial Williamsburg, William & Mary, Jamestown &/or Yorktown.
We stayed 3 nights. Convenient to Colonial Williamsburg! Accommodations outstanding! Ike can answer all your questions and his granddaughter Carter provides incredibly sumptuous breakfast fare! Would highly recommend without any reservation! 5 Star!
