A long weekend at The Fabled Williamsburg Inn was just what the doctor ordered for a pandemic pause that provides the feel of posh. Treat yourself to a grown up timeout that is well worth the trip back in time.
Williamsburg Inn is a first class, world class, and just a phenomenal vacation spot for family, friends, and singles!!! The amenities, restaurants, the rich history, and staff are incomparable. Check out the pristine gulf course, bike paths, and not to mention the accommodations for walking and jogging.
Even amid COVID, the Inn is spectacular and they are making every effort to keep up their standard of service. The grounds are amazing, the food is incredible, and it remains a first-rate place to stay. We took advantage of a lower price-point right now and were amazed by the facility. The Terrace outdoor dining is a must and the food is great.
I want to share my dismay with my stay at the Williamsburg Inn. The source of this dismay is the absolute lack of disclosure by management of the severe limitations imposed by the COVID-19 situation. Specifically, here are examples: 1) When reserving I selected the breakfast option. There were pictures of eggs benedict and a very nice menu of offerings. When I checked in, I was advised that I would need to walk over to the Lodge for breakfast. No option of room service. Only room service was delivery of a cold continental breakfast. This is not acceptable. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED – Our Dining Room and Kitchen are NOT open for Breakfast. Easy enough, but not disclosed when I made my reservation. 2) I made a dinner reservation for my wife and two friends at the. I was disappointed that the Rockefeller Dining Room was closed, but that you would be serving in the Terrace Room – fair enough. I made a reservation for 4. When I checked in I was offered help with reservations, I said thanks but that I had made a reservation in the Terrace Room – they said, oh good, you will enjoy it. THEN – when I went for dinner, seating was only on the outside deck and it was 90 degrees. Unacceptable. I asked for seating inside. I was advised that NO seating inside was available. I asked for the manager. After a discussion, my party was provided with a table in doors. THEN, the menu was not at all what was expected. We stay and received wonderful service from Andrew – Andrew made our night all good. But my point – NO DISCLOSURE by management. Let’s be fair. I like the Inn, but I also expect adequate disclosure if the services traditionally expected are not available – Especially for a hotel that bills itself as “Regency style, food and beverage options … elevated to suit today’s evolved tastes.” Please – I would expect that for the price of a room at the Inn that you would have more services available. But understanding that they are not, provide clear and adequate disclosure at reservation time, enabling your guests to potentially make other arrangements. Us – we had pizza delivered last night. Not what we really wanted. Regards.…
We had a wonderful stay at the Williamsburg Inn. The property is beautiful and really just steps away from Colonial Williamsburg, so it couldn't be more convenient. The staff from the valet Alexander who greeted us warmly to the front desk personnel, to the dining staff were superb. All their dining rooms/restaurants were not open due to COVID but we had great service and food out on the patio was very good. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant. More importantly we felt safe in light of the COVID precautions that the hotel was practicing. Our original summer plans were canceled due to the pandemic but it was so nice to just get away and feel safe through it all.
