Good for families. The rooms are dated and we had some large ants in our room. We were on the first floor on the dumpster side so I’d avoid the first floor the next time. The kids enjoyed the pool and arcade. Wish the bar stayed open later. It was an ok place not sure I’d return.
If the rating scale was higher my review would be so as well. From the outstanding service to the amenities, this hotel is one of the best. Although we didn’t stay there for its proximity to Busch Gardens, this hotel is just outside the entrance to the park.
Hotel is a little outdated and rundown. Positives were very clean rooms, great amenities and right next door to Bush Gardens. Negative is the outrageous $10 parking fee per night the wasn’t listed on the Hilton website.
I had the opportunity to visit the hotel for the first time in Smithfield Virginia. Wonderful experience with the accommodations and the hotel staff. Everyone was very cooperative and providing assistance to ensure that everything was in order.
I spent three nights with a tour group visiting Jamestown , Williamsburg and Yorktown. I had a very comfortable room , shower OK plenty of hot water, comfortable bed. I enjoyed the breakfast , lots to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great bar to relax over a nice drink. Swimming pool looked great , video games available. There is a great Italian and Thai restaurant nearby. Very central for all attractions.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Convenient location for visiting Historic Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Reception staff were outstanding and were able to answer any questions I had. Good restaurants nearby. Room was in good repair and clean. Good selection of drinks at the bar area. And, they had warm cookies available at the front desk in the evening!
In total we had 4 rooms. One room was dirty including toothpaste and hair in the sink. One room had a leak by the tub and water all over the bathroom floor and one room had paint peeling from the ceiling and it came off the ceiling in the middle of the night onto the bed. The entire hotel is worn and dirty. Sunday morning we were told the restaurant was open for breakfast and it was advertised on a big chalk board that there was a great breakfast. The restaurant was not open and we were forced to grab breakfast with the rest of the hotel guests in takeout coffee bar which took forever and the order was a mess for 8 people. They charged us double for the 2nd night of our weekend stay because of a convention - just about $400 plus tax. This hotel is hot mess! And should be advertised as a 1 star hotel because of how Hilton manages it. Two wonderful things the hotel landscape is beautiful and the staff was absolutely lovely. It’s too bad they have to work in such a mess of a hotel. Do not stay here even though it’s the closet hotel to Busch Gardens. Not worth the money and the aggravation. And it’s disgusting.…
Hotel Doubletree Hilton Williamsburg. With Roads Scholar group April 10-16, 2022. Room 106--My normal Hilton profile is: Higher floor, away from the elevator, quiet area of the hotel, feather free. In this hotel, I was on the first floor (almost subterrain), across from the elevator, just around the corner from the front desk. When I asked to be moved I was told because I had the feather free room they would not move me. The room was dirty and shabby and dark. I took a few photos in the bathroom. It was too dark to photograph the dirty carpet. There was so much grime in the window sill. The food plentiful but was barely adequate—dry bread, salty meat, sulfurous eggs. The conferences rooms we used were smelly, like mold and mildew. Again dirty carpets and after a rain, the dining area carpet was coming up off the floor and wrinkled. When I drive, I carry a room air purifier. I had just replaced the 3-month filter. When I returned home I discarded the filter because it looked like a much older filter and I was afraid of what it contained. There were lots of out-of-control children running the halls.…
All of the renovations to the hotel were very nice and modern. The pool was huge, the staff were helpful and very nice. When I asked for an early check-in (several hours in advance) they said no problem. I can't think of anything they could have done better.
I use to feel Double Tree was an excellent I have stayed at this one several times in the past. I have used Double Tree Hotels many times when I am traveling. The last four DT were showing their age and options for breakfast are nonexistent. The hotel is showing its age and it does not appear there is any intent on improving. Everything from the wall paper to carpet and doors was worn. I will be hesitant to use DT in the future. Filling out their surveys is a waste since they never followup with them
