I reviewed Fords Colony last year and gave it great reviews for being clean and a safe place to have stayed during Covid. I felt like it was a good choice to get away during a difficult year. I feel the same this year as well. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Some updates have been done and our one bedroom villa had new carpeting and some new furnishings and a very comfortable new king bed. I think for the price, which I feel is reasonable for a resort hotel, Marriott at Fords Colony is a great place to stay. It’s set in trees, pretty quiet and a peaceful relaxing place to spend a few days or a week. I like having a kitchen and some space so we usually get a one bedroom villa. It’s has a washer and dryer too. It’s about 5 miles from Colonial Williamsburg and near other great historical sites. I was at first disappointed that I couldn’t stay this time at the Marriot Autograph hotel, The Lodge , right in colonial Williamsburg. I wanted to be within walking distance of the historic area. I’ve stayed before and loved it, but the nightly rates have become RIDICULOUS and the same for the other official Colonial Williamsburg properties. $300-$400 a night is just insane for a room with no kitchen. But it made me I realize I’m happier at Marriott Fords Colony. It’s has all the comforts of home. I prefer it. We had a very relaxing week. With enough room for us both to really settle in. I don’t take advantage of the resort amenities but they seem to have some nice ones. My husband did play golf and enjoyed the coarse. And I would definitely recommend for a family stay. Ford Colony is a great choice if you’re visiting the area. We’ve stayed many times and have never been disappointed.

I’ll try to be objective here. Starting with the negative. This resort is suited more for retirement age couples and the activities are as well. That’s not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you want. Both beds were perhaps the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. They were very hard and lumpy on one side and sank into a very deep hole on the other. Because of this my wife and I had to use separate rooms for the week. The grounds staff were blowing leaves at 7 am each day and this would last for hours. The housekeeping staff were vacuuming the hallway at 10pm. Now for the good. The rooms are the most spacious I’ve ever stayed in. The resort is located very close to many attractions. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating with a special shout out to the ones at the front counter. The grounds are well kept and the architecture fits nicely with the colonial area.

Thank you for taking time to provide your review of the Marriott's Manor Club. We are sorry that the beds were uncomfortable and that the noise from the maintenance/housekeeping kept you up. Staying with family at a two-bedroom villa was wonderful, especially with a third-floor view of the stunning trees and gold course. This was my first overnight getaway since the beginning of the pandemic, and I was so impressed by the clean, elegant rooms and wonderful staff (the front desk and cleaning staff are welcoming and meticulous.) I can’t wait to plan another getaway here! Easy driving distance to Colonial Williamsburg, Merchant Square, and Jamestown. Since I have celiac and follow a strict gluten-free diet, I also love having a kitchen and a short car-ride to grocery stores like The Fresh Market and Trader Joe’s.

Though many of the hotels in this area are along Richmond Road, this golf resort is a short 15 minute drive from Colonial Williamsburg. The hotel is fronted by a beautiful residential neighborhood, and the rooms are spread out among several buildings, which keeps the noise level at a minimum. The hotel grounds are meticulous. Besides the golf course, the hotel has a very nice swimming pool and several sports courts. Since Marriott rates tend to be higher, we hold Marriott to a higher standard, and we thought the room could use an update. The furnishings are comfortable and nicely designed, though some of the furniture looked a little worn. If we are in the Williamsburg area again, we would definitely consider staying at this hotel.

We arrived a day early for our vacation and they were happy to accommodate us. We checked in and went to our condo and it was very nice. We had a couple issues and one involved maintenance. Michael was sent to our room to fix the problem and what a pleasant surprise he was. He was very professional, outgoing and friendly. This young man will go out of his way to provide for guests. Our issues was fixed through Michael and Ron, the front desk manager. What could have been a bad vacation was quickly turned around by these two men. Thank you Marriot for exceeding in customer service like you always do. This is why we always stay with you!
