I previously stayed at this resort in 2010 with my teenage sons so I was excited when I was able to secure a two bedroom for April 2021 - prime time for those on spring break. Although COVID19 has limited a lot of activities, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the theatre was open and reservations were available for your particular party. Other great things: I was able to rent a bicycle, had use of the gas grills to fix dinner, enjoyed my time at the indoor pool and walked through the wooded path.

The entire resort team was extremely nice and went out of their way to make our vacation enjoyable. Whether it was a member of the engineering team fixing the toilet or the ice maker - it was addressed immediately, and they did not leave until everything was working properly.

The front desk staff was cheerful and welcomed us during check-in. They even noticed a personal document I mistakenly left on the counter, put it in an envelope and called me to pick it up. Even the staff that was cleaning the rooms, painting the hallways or walking the property would wave or yell hello with tons of energy.

It was truly an amazing experience and I am looking forward to returning in the near future.

P.S. Not sure why so many complained, but the pull out couch, located in the living room, was extremely comfortable. I believe it was a three part foam mattress that was firm (my preferred style) and easy to open and close. I have never enjoyed sleeping on a pull out sofa in the past, but I would even consider purchasing this one for my home.

P.P.S. a quick phone call to the resort and they were able to accommodate my request for a particular floor as well as remove items that would affect my allergies, such as feather or down materials.

We finally decided to try to do a safe vacation and chose Williamsburg.
We stayed at Marriott’s Manor Club at Fords Colony a couple of years ago and I thought it would be a good choice for now.

We got a one bedroom villa. I wanted a bit of space and a full kitchen so we could eat in or bring in carry out. The villa was spotless when we arrived. They’re housekeeping crew did a great job.
I brought my own cleaners but I really didn’t need them. The rooms had obviously been cleaned thoroughly.
There was hand sanitizer near the elevators too.

The kitchen had everything anyone could use.
I admit to missing having daily housekeeping, part of vacation for me is having the bed made and fresh towels. But honestly to be able to go away now it’s worth not having that.

The property is very nice. Wooded and quiet. Our villa had a screen porch facing trees. One night we were awakened by Great Horned Owls right outside our porch!

There’s a 3+ mile walking trail and we were given a card for up to six rounds of golf during our stay. My husband played twice and said the course he played ( one of three ) was great.

Masks are required and all guests I saw were masked.
One of the pools was open, we didn’t use it. The restaurant is not open and I think many of the resort’s activities have been suspended.
Housekeeping is not available daily, but they will being more towels or supplies if you call the front office. Everyone we encountered there was very professional and friendly.
It’s about 5 miles equi-distant to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown.

I was very nervous about trying to get away but I will say, Marriott’s Manor Club at Fords Colony was a good choice for a comfortable and safe stay.

If you want to get away this would be a good option.

I’ll also add, if you’re looking to get away and need to distance it can be done. A couple of places to consider:
Jamestowne Island is a beautiful place to see history and also get away biking, walking or for a lovely drive.
Take the ferry over the James and there are wonderful distance places there too.
Windsor Park Farm in Smithfield is a great place to walk.
A good hike is the Bassett Trace Trail right in colonial Williamsburg.
A lovely place for a distant picnic was College Landing Park.

Enjoyed our one night stay in a King suite at this Marriott Vacation Club property. Room was a good size with a small kitchenette area with sink, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Also had plates, glasses, mugs and utensils. A small safe was inside a fair sized closet. There was a couch and a small table with 2 chairs with placemats if you want to eat meals there. The property is lovely with 2 outdoor pools, one indoor pool, BBQs, a tennis court, basketball areas, and inside one of the buildings on the ground floor there is a movie theatre where they show 3 different movies a day, an arcade area as well as a place for puzzles and board games, table tennis and a pool table. There is also a golf course and lots of walking paths. This is a timeshare property that also rents nightly rooms. We did not feel pressured at all during our stay regarding listening to any timeshare presentations which was nice. We would definitely recommend this property.

I just want to start out by saying, this place is truly amazing. This was our first time visiting and after staying, we will definitely return. The property is amazing, amenities are top notch, and it is well worth the money to stay here. From the beginning at check in, all the employees we encountered were helpful and friendly. The grounds are large and look great. Plush, green grass and brick everywhere that makes it look very quiet and secluded. They have two pools, a fitness area, and walking trails on the grounds. Due to it being a resort, there are not many restaurants on the grounds. However, there are plenty of eating establishments within driving distance as well as other things to do in the Williamsburg area.

The rooms are very nice. We stayed in the one room villa, which came with a kitchenette, jacuzzi tub and washer and dryer in the room. The attention to detail, accommodations, and excellent service made our stay wonderful and have made it easy for to us want to come back and visit again.

Thank you to the staff that made our stay enjoyable.

We have stayed at Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony many times, and have always been very pleased with the facility. However this time we were placed in one of the "Commons" buildings, and the one bedroom villa we had was a disappointment. The granite countertop in the kitchen had a large broken area, the refrigerator door was dented in, the furniture was worn with stains, the bedside lamp didn't work because the knob had been broken off so there was no way to turn it on/off (and it wasn't even plugged in - just sitting on the bedside table with the cord wrapped/tied up for looks), and there was this terrible very loud mechanical rumble that ran continuously that was deafening, most notably in the bedroom. We couldn't believe how run-down it felt during this visit. This Marriott has always been our preferred location to stay in Williamsburg, but when we return for our next Williamsburg visit, we will insist that we be placed in one of the "Manor" buildings and not the "Commons". And if it still has the same run-down presentation, we will choose to stay elsewhere for future visits.

Hi, thank you for your review of Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony. We are saddened to hear of the condition of the room you received. When the villa is not up to standard, we recommend reporting it to the front desk as a new room may be requested. Please note the Commons building are due for a renovation in the coming years. We do appreciate your patronage and hope to provide a better experience on a future stay.

Did an exchange through Interval International. Loved the room, which was very large and comfortable. I like Ford's Colony community. Great places to walk in the area. They also do a great job keeping the property clean and properly sanitized. I repeatedly saw team members wiping down door handles throughout the buildings.
Marriott requires "everyone" wear masks while inside the buildings and elevators; and only 1 person inside elevator, or the same members of the same household. No one is following these rules, which is purely ignorant and selfish.
One member of the front desk staff was not the friendliest person, and very business like in the way he speaks to people. I felt like I was bothering him during the two brief interactions I had with him.
I was here during tropical storm Isaias, and I was very surprised to not have received "any" communication from the resort prior to the storm. This storm was a hurricane during parts of it, and the winds exceeded 80+ mph while passing over Virginia causing significant damage in certain communities. The last time I was staying at a resort during a storm of this nature, we received communication from the resort giving us information about the storm. Here we received nothing, and we lost power for several hours.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

Nice place and well maintained. Friendly staff and we stayed in nice two bedroom unit. It was very clean. Front desk was fast and efficient during checkin process. Parking is easy. We arrived slightly late and were awaken early in the morning by the grounds keeping gas leaf blower at 6:32am. (That seems a little early....but they were putting down new mulch). Maybe if they really need to work that early they should switch to battery/electric which is much more quiet.

Recently booked a 3 night stay. When we checked in, we asked whether any 1 bedroom units had become available. We agreed to the price increase but were assigned a unit. Upon entering the unit, we were surprised by an awful smell something on the order of fried smelly fish. We thought perhaps the cleaning crew had eaten lunch in the unit thus the smell and opened the patio doors. We ran into the cleaning crew in the parking lot while unloading and mentioned it to them. They were very responsive and came immediately with a freshening spray. The housekeeper noted that the spray did not help at all and told us she would ask housekeeping to bring an ozone unit to deodorize. She returned about 15 minutes later and reported that she had been told that the ozone unit had been used in the unit earlier in the day but it didn't help. She sprayed a stronger scented freshener.

Even after leaving doors open for fresh air (it was quite warm outside) the unit "stank". We were exhausted from a long drive and thought the smell would dissipate overnight. Unfortunately we found that the smell was still very strong the following morning and contacted the front desk. We were told that they could move us to another unit later in the day after it was cleaned and we agreed. When we went to the front desk to make the switch later we were offered no help in moving our belongings and no apology was offered. Honestly, the unit should have been taken out of service until the problem could be corrected.

Thankfully, the new unit was fine. On checkout day we needed to hit the road early and followed instructions on the television to check out. The bill was correct...no problem. The following day when we were home we noted an e-mail from the resort. Upon opening it we noted that we had been charged for the day we checked out. When we phoned them we were told that we were supposed to text or phone the front desk to inform them of our departure and that the tv check out system was "not connected to the front desk". Really???? How then is the bill with charges available through the system???

We also noted that although no daily housekeeping was provided due to covid, none of the staff entering our unit were masked as they attempted to remedy the odor issue.

They did correct the bill and refunded us for the extra night but not without two calls to ask for the correction.

This was our second stay at the resort this year. Based on our recent experience, I would not recommend it to a friend.

We stayed in a regular guest room at the Colonial Commons building for 3 nights, and enjoyed the large swimming pool adjacent to the building (which also had a cafe). The kids enjoyed bingo at the pool and other family-friendly events. Building was secure - required a room key to enter the building and pool areas. Room was clean, and I appreciated the ability to text the front desk with requests for extra supplies as there is no daily maid service due to covid. The only reason for 4 stars is we were woken up at 10:30pm by the fire alarm (along with the rest of the building) while the James City County Fire Dept inspected the problem. It turned out to be a malfunctioning sprinkler system. It happens, but it caused us to wait outside until 11:30pm. So I hope the facilities dept ensures the sprinkler system is repaired for future guests.
