The tiny town of Washington, VA makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time. But the stylish, lavishly-cottage decor, pretty setting, peaceful ambiance and outstanding food of the Inn make it clear no comforts have been sacrificed. A delightful spot to escape for a day or two or three . . . Plus, the fall color was... More

It's as close to perfect as there is. We arrived and were greeted with such affection, a roaring fire in the fireplace, a lovely drink, and an invitation to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the afternoon. We enjoyed the tea service, which offered cookies, scones, and tea - enough to be satisfying. We were shown to our room,... More

We have been to many 5 star hotels in America and Europe, but without question this Hotel has to be the best. From driving upto the front of the hotel, the service and welcoming spirit was top notch. Owners took and interest and made you feel like a star as soon as you walked across the threshold. Detail to every... More

I returned last night (after 30 years absence), and the food is still terrific. But the Inn is still 80 minutes from DC, and there's not much other reason to be in the area (correction: see my accompanying review of Skyline Drive). Back in the 1980s, people like me DID drive out here from DC just for dinner. Back then... More

The Inn at Little Washington is only surpassed by the dinner there. This is an experience that should not be missed. I now understand why people travel from long distances just to dine and stay for the evening. Patrick O'Connell has thought of everything and then some to make your stay very special. The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful.... More

We stayed at the Inn at Little Washington with another couple for a night in September to celebrate my wife's 46th birthday. We were nicely upgraded to a room with a balcony (Room 10). What a special way to commemorate her birthday! We loved the way the rooms (public and private) are decorated, and the food lives up to its... More

There is a quote by John Ruskin "Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten" I wonder did he stay at the Little Inn. Everything you read about it is true. The paperless check-in, welcome cocktails, attention to service & detail, friendly professional staff & the food is just the best you will ever experience. In reception I picked... More

I love, love, love the Inn - we have both slept there (three times) and eaten there (5 or 6 times now) and just fall more and more in love with it each time. There is a lack of pretension and an easy, effortless charm at the Inn which causes me to relax immediately. After a one-night stay, my husband... More

My husband and I stayed overnight at this quaint little inn in central Virginia (just 40 minutes outside of Washington DC) to celebrate his birthday over the Memorial Day weekend. Upon arrival, we were greeted with specially made cocktails and provided a brief tour of the garden and dining room. After the tour, we had afternoon tea with tea sandwiches... More

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Inn. From the welcome cocktails to afternoon tea in the garden to a most wonderful dinner for my husband's birthday, everything was just brilliant! Breakfast was also special. We have dined in the restaurant several times, but this was the first time that we had stayed at the inn. So glad we did!... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the small town of Washington, Virginia, The Inn at Little Washington is the only Double Forbes Five Star, Double AAA Five Diamond property in the Washington metro area. The Inn's eighteen bedrooms and suites are sumptuous hideaways created by Joyce Evans, a London stage and set designer, for whom The Inn has become a life's work. Many of the furnishings were purchased in England, numbered and shipped to Virginia to be assembled on site like a giant jigsaw puzzle. The Inn offers a range of accommodations from well-appointed rooms to luxurious, two story suites many with balconies and garden views. The Inn's dining rooms are pure fantasy - a wondrous cocoon of luxury. Rose-colored, silk lampshades float above each table creating a private, romantic world below. Chef/Proprietor Patrick O'Connell's creations arrive as if served by invisible hands, course after course more dazzling than the last. From the award-winning 14,000 bottle wine cellar, which includes the finest offerings from Bordeaux, Burgundy, California and Virginia, the Sommelier plays matchmaker between you, your dinner and the wine. ... more   less
