Many travelers visiting the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront find its oceanfront location to be a high point, offering great views and convenient access to shops. However, opinions on value are mixed, with some guests feeling that the costs outweigh the benefits, citing overpriced services and added charges. While the rooms are generally clean, there are reports of maintenance and outdated decor issues. The atmosphere can be quite vibrant, occasionally to the point of disruption for guests due to loud music. Service experiences vary, with commendations for staff professionalism alongside criticisms for slow check-in processes. Amenities are well-regarded, though elevator wait times have been a concern.

We had a great trip. The room was awesome. We had an ocean view could see the Christmas lights. The highlight was our breakfast buffet. Thanks to Bones, our wonderful waitress! We will be back again soon!

We booked two nights at this Hilton for a special occasion. Pros: great location on the boardwalk, spacious balconies, nice views. To be helpful to other travelers, this particular Hilton is not on par with the Hilton brand. This Hilton is in major need of some up-fit. Upon check-in, we were given a room that was unclean. There were no towels restocked. There was two older bath towels rolled up in the slot for towels that were wrinkled, slightly damp, and stained. Overall, the room was dirty. We were moved to a 2nd room. The a/c unit in the 2nd room was broken with the “error” message flashing on the display. We were moved to a 3rd room. Still no wash cloths in this room, and the manger said housekeeping was out of them so she found two for me from behind the front desk. No housekeeping ever came in during our stay or offered anything. The bathrooms were small and old, with badly stained grout. Hilton did make a concession on our stay, which was appreciated. However, I won’t come back. Floors in the lobby were dirty and the lobby was very hot. I know some of this is attributable to working out some issues surrounding the covid pandemic. So having said that, I would think a 4 star Hilton would be a safer choice. I did not feel comfortable there. This specific property should be re-branded into one of Hilton’s other product offerings. Definitely not a 4 star property and certainly not with the 400 plus rate we booked prior to concession.

We chose the Hilton for our stay as we have come to enjoy the quality of the hotel brand and of course have the loyalty points. We arrived a little after the 4pm check in time and our room was not ready so we were told they would call us when it is ready. We checked our bags and took a walk on the boardwalk but did not receive a call so a little after 5pm we checked again and they checked us in. We have the app and pre-selected a room on the 17th floor but were given the same room on the 14th floor. When we got to the floor we could see that there was a flooding event as there were large fans and moisture extraction devices. We later found out that the rooftop pool had leaked and was closed for repairs. Our room was clean and dry and we still had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. The bed was old and sagging in the middle. We were staying for 3 nights and they did not clean or service the rooms once, the new COVID-19 protocol. We were okay with that but they only left 2 towels and 1 little bottle of shampoo in the room. Since when did Hilton get so skimpy? The ice machine was broken so we had to call for ice to be delivered. The shower had mold on it and the shower door was loose. The balcony door handle was broken and would not lock and we called to get it fixed but it was never attended to.

The next day we spent on the beach and were pleased to find we could rent lounges and an umbrella or cabana and charge it to the room.

We tried a few times to go the rooftop bar but it was closed for private parties. We had dinner once at the restaurant at the hotel and the food was delicious.

After being locked in our homes for 3 months we desperately needed a getaway. Not willing to get on a plane with our kids we chose to drive down from NY. I understand we are in a pandemic so we needed to level our expectations. Also, I came in knowing we are staying at a Hilton not a 5 star resort. A couple of things that made us comfortable venturing out to this hotel was the level of answers I received to our questions prior to our stay. We were told the roof top pool would be closed, there would be an enhanced cleaning seal of approval on each room, and all rooms would be unoccupied for three days before bringing in another guest. Further, we were told the hotel would operate at 50% capacity for social distancing purposes. I came prepared with lysol wipes and toilet paper (read from other reviews you can’t get any toilet paper from housekeeping). First, no seal on the door when we arrived indicating the room had been cleaned. I immediately lysol wiped all surfaces. We arrived to two dirty beach towels, one hand towel and one wash cloth. We are four people in the room. Had to call down because three pillows were awfully dirty. We befriended the people next door to us. They were from NY and were freaked out that no one was wearing a mask even in the elevators so they checked out the next morning. I figured the room would be empty for three days. Much to my surprise the next afternoon as I sat out on the balcony there was a new couple in the room that had checked in. Every morning began with a phone call ordering breakfast to the room (they never got any of the orders right) because we wanted to limit rides in the elevators. We didn’t see anyone other than our family wearing a mask. If there are four people in an elevator and you see they are all wearing masks why would you take the elevator with us if you don’t have the common courtesy to wear a mask???? After the call down for breakfast I would call down for towels specifying how many we needed. Your lucky to get someone on the phone. The saving grace of this stay was the proximity to the beach, and the restaurant downstairs that was very good. There appears to be no management of this hotel. The poor valet and front desk are completely overwhelmed. I am grateful to be able to get on a beach with my family after being in our home for so long but this just isn’t right. If Hilton can’t provide basic hospitality they should shutdown. For many families this may be the only vacation they can afford to take this summer.

I booked One King Bed Superior Corner Room Ocean View for 4 days room 613 . It was 365/day. what I liked: . The bed was big and comfortable and it was a good sized room. There was refrigerator. After that, there is not much else that I liked.
The room is a bit dated. There was that black mildew in the shower along the ground grout line, The safe door was broken. The bathroom sink was so slow. The rooms that have been cleaned before you arrive have a clean sticker" on it, so there is a seal on the door to tell you it was cleaned. Ours" did not have one and I did not realized that this was what they did until the following day.

Now with COVID, any and all conveniences are left to your own accord. There was no room cleaning, No towel replacement, No extra soaps or showers. I asked myself what I was paying for. I paid top dollar and got very little in return

You had to go down to the front desk to exchange towels and ask for shampoo and soap. When I went there was no shampoo left and the front desk person said they would bring some up. It never happened.

The staff I met although cordial, are not seasoned at all. I asked if I could have 2 wine glasses delivered to the room. They said no but I could get them at the Catch 31 restaurant. I called them and they said come on done. 2 minutes later a manager from the restaurant called and said,. "No, they couldn't do that). NO microwave in a room but there were 2 in the lobby. I have never heard of anything like this

For that kind of money, I expected way more than i got and was very disappointed. For that price, I could have gotten a condo with a view (and there are many) with a kitchen, microwave,etc..

om a separate note, there was a homicide one block up from the hotel. The final cost with taxes, 4 days to park car ($40) and resort feels and the price was 1600 for 4 nights. Hilton should be ashamed of themselves

When we checked in, my husband was told that the room he had selected, earlier in the day during his check-in, was not available. We were given another oceanfront room.
When we unpacked, my husband noticed the there were no USB ports on his side of the bed. See pic
There was 1 bar of soap - had to take it from sink to the shower. For the price of the room, 2 bars of soap should be available
No wash cloths in the room - found when getting ready in the morning to leave. there were 4 hand towels. Looks like the supplies in the room were for 1 person in the room not 2.
Dinner was good in the Catch 31 restaurant :)

Dear Slbdel, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. As we work through these challenging times, it is crucial to hear your feedback so we can learn from it and try to make it a better experience for you and others. There is no excuse for the lack of amenities in the bathroom. Our King rooms accommodate up to two guests, therefore, we should have provided you with enough supplies. Our Housekeeping Management is reviewing your comments to ensure they are used to improve our guest's experience. We truly hope you will give us another opportunity to show you our hospitality.

We couldn't check into our room until 6:30 p.m. which was way past time for us to get in our room and get ready for dinner. Our room was on the 12th floor and there must've been some type of flood. The floor tile was off and the wall paper was loose with large blowers running to dry the wall for the entire 4 days of our stay (including the blower running in the middle of the night which was noisy). It looked like a construction zone. They could not provide us with towels and washrags for a family of 4 even when the concierge said he would get us some and/or told us we were on a list. One most days we only had a few towels but no washrags, hand towels, floor mat etc. They blamed the towel service company for the shortage. The keys to our room did not work on multiple days so we had to keep going to the front desk for new keys. The rug at the restaurant had a large tear of 1.5 feet long in it (although the food was good). We noticed the 4-star plagues that were displayed and this hotel had not received a new one since 2012 of which I could agree with. Not to mention that the frame covering was falling off of the plaque. Lastly we had billing issues and I'm still calling the hotel 2 weeks after our stay to try to get it resolved with no return call. Typically hotels send multiple requests for surveys but I can see why this hotel is not asking for feedback as they know it will be poor. There were lines of ppl waiting to complain tot he front desk. Very disappointing after trying to get away during this pandemic. Plus we didn't see anyone wiping down elevators, door handles, common areas etc. lastly the service staff was using the main elevator versus a service elevator.

We stayed at this Hilton several years ago and it was great. I’m afraid that Covid has claimed another victim. However, aside from the Covid issues, the hotel itself needs some serious upgrading and cleaning. It is my opinion that the Lysol sticker they put on the door is a joke. I went around the room and I could see fingerprints all over handles. Luckily I was prepared with Lysol wipes.

Pros:
Parking garage was very convenient with the walk across the bridge $10 per day.
View from room
Front front desk was very courteous
Nice and cold in-room refrigerator
Nice pool side bar-limited choice of food
Bellman was awesome.
Balcony furniture
New wash rags
Big tv (slow channel changing)

Cons:
Our room was a corner suite. Excellent view w/very small bathroom.

No chair or umbrella service at beach until memorial day weekend.

Catch 31 was hit or miss and the breakfast simply was average. for the price it was not worth it. I remember several years ago that it was unbelievably good. Coffee bar in restaurant good for cofeee terrible for tea. Hot water had coffee flavor.

Room: absolute worst showerhead ever! Sink faucet leaked hot water onto counter, dirty air conditioner vent black with 1/8” thick of yuck (filter dated 6 months ago), it took two days for them to come to replace the filter, dirty hair dryer & vent; stained and dirty carpet (feet black stepping in the shower, after wearing shoes and socks all day and straightening room) no towels in the room upon arrival, guests required to request daily towels, no housekeeping unless requested (24 hours notice). No do not disturb signs. Holes in the sheets, blood stains on the pillows (under pillow case) and recent stains on mattress pad. The air conditioner did not work properly. No working ice machine on our floor, balcony floor was very dirty,

Indoor pool was not clear. I question the chemicals. As with every hotel workers are not available. It’s truly not their fault. However, Hilton has standards and it is essential that less rooms be rented if they cannot be properly cleaned. People clean the carpet! Thank you

We checked in online, selected our room and ended up getting a completely different room upon arrival. The front desk made it sound like our parking would be validated but we were charged $60 for 6 nights of parking. There was an inadvertent fire alarm due to a guest smoking on the balcony which gave us an opportunity to meet a number of our neighbors. All of them were very disappointed with the hotel, they also mentioned requests to housekeeping and the front desk went unanswered.

Pros:
Location, free daily use of 2 beach chairs, use of beach towels.

Cons:
Cost, pay to park, attention to guest requests, elevators

Very nice hotel, with comfortable rooms, but the service is poor, to say the least. They do not offer any kind of housekeeping service, and that is understandable given the difficult COVID19 times, but what is totally unacceptable is the complete lack of any kind of service. To have clean bath towels we had to call multiple times and they brought them to our room after at least 7 hours. Even getting coffee or other bath supplies was close to impossible. When I asked for some cups to make coffee I have been told that if I needed them I could have gone downstairs and grab them myself. They claim the lack of service is due to COVID19, in my opinion the lack of service is due to the attempt to charge customers for the same amount of money, while offering much lower quality. The minimum service could be safely provided even in these difficult times. This is not what we expected by choosing Hilton, we will keep it in mind for our next trip.

Catch 31 is our full-service restaurant. They provide both a breakfast buffet and items to order off menu. They keep updated menus on their website. In addition, guests who qualify for access to Empyrean lounge have access to a continental + some hot options breakfast free during their stay. There are many additional restaurants within walking distance, but those I shared are onsite collocated with the hotel. We also offer room service.
