We stayed September 5 -11. This was a much nicer campground experience than I expected. I haven't camped in years and for most of our stay we rented a camper with Airbnb at this campground. The last day we stayed in our own tent. There are a lot of pros and a few cons so I will start with the pros. There are lots of trees and shade and green space. There were some fun pieces of art scattered around the campground landscape. The bath houses were much cleaner and modern than I was expecting. The campground has 4 nice large pools that looked very clean, They had mini golf, horseshoe pits, playgrounds and other stuff for kids and families to do. The location can't be beat.....close to restaurants and the beach is just a couple of miles down the road! Great free parking location for campers located about two blocks from the beach. There is a nice bike path that leads from the campground to the beach that is also nice to run or walk on. Office staff was very nice and friendly. The campground is dog friendly and there is a large dog park for the pups. They have a nice large pavilion area. There is a very nice laundry facility. There is also a cafe located at this campground. Now for a few of the cons. Camping isn't quite like it was when I was a kid. There is supposed to be a quiet time starting at 11pm and during the week the campground was nice and peaceful, but during the weekends it was totally different. The Friday night we stayed in a tent, the two campers across from us were playing loud music and talking and laughing very loudly until 1 or 2 in the morning. This was very inconsiderate to others. When you are in a tent you hear EVERYTHING so I did not get to sleep until they finally turned it off. I was not a happy camper that night. Golf carts ride around late with music blaring with no consideration that some people staying there are not there to party but to enjoy the sounds of nature and not their loud music. Security and campground workers did not regulate quiet time and it is very inconsiderate to other campers. Kids that were too young were driving golf carts around and some people driving the golf carts had no consideration for people who were walking and would be driving too fast through the campground. During our stay it rained really hard one night and there were parts of the campground that had flooded areas/roads for a few hours. There is a little convenience store there with items one might need but they are a bit expensive. The older lady who works there is not friendly and while checking us out said some sarcastic things about me paying (because I was a woman and my man wasn't paying for those items) and about how I was holding the firewood and not him. We just laughed it off but didn't appreciate her comments. When I came back to get some matches about an hour later she was just rude and unfriendly to me. I don't know what her problem was but she shouldn't be working with the public with that attitude and personality. Also just like the beach, military jets fly low over this campground sometimes very late into the night so expect to hear the sounds of freedom during your stay. The tent site we had didn't have hardly any grass....mostly gravel and compact sandy dirt and it was hard finding a spot that we could hammer the tent pegs into the ground. Now with all that being said, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again in the future. The location is wonderful and one of the things I loved the most is that this campground has so many trees and green space, unlike some campgrounds that are just campers parked in a field.

Nice campground tucked away from the road, but yet close to all attractions and the beach. Easy to make a reservation and actually got the site I picked which was a good size spot for our camper. Pet friendly, people friendly. Really neat structures made from bolts and horseshoes like an alligator and sea horses. There are 4 pools, however we only used the main pool by the office which was not bad except for the few disrespectful, illiterate teenagers. The gameroom/arcade was shut down. The cafe wasn't bad. Didn't get to try the mini-golf course. Playgrounds could use some updating and attention. Bath house was modern and decent in design, not trashed. We had a nice stay just wish people would not leave an over abundant amount of lights on after midnight when people are trying to sleep. 7 bright exterior lights that stayed on all night (they were on all sides of the camper) oh yeah and one more that was motion sensored, never have I ever seen a camper have so many bright exterior lights on a camper. Would not have a problem staying here again as the price was reasonable and the staff was friendly.

We stayed here 30 years ago in tent and then in pop up. This place has become a dump! Office staff very friendly and great service from 1 maintenance guy. Other staff members were rude. Our site was surrounded by drunks who liked to play loud music. Some had been there for very long and sites were a mess. Police had to come one night and break up a fight. Signs all over the place warning you to lock your vehicles.

We traveled to Virginia from Vermont to help welcome and celebrate a new grandchild into our family. We didn’t have an exact date of when she was going to arrive but June at Holiday L Park made it easy to change the date of arrival to fit our needs. She worked with us and it made it less stressful. And once we got there our site was very large fitting a large motorhome and two vehicles. Shaded with trees site yet I was able to get satellite service and watch TV. Lots to do and the pools were great. A truly fantastic family park but the customer service (June) is what makes this park shine. Thank you June. Thank you Holiday Trav-L-Park for a wonderful time. We will be back!

We have been staying at this park each time we visit Virginia Beach since our son was in elementary school (he is now 30 years old). We are tent campers. We used to like the amenities for children coupled with a well-maintained tent site and close access to the beach (the park-maintained beach parking lot is awesome). However, we have noticed a deterioration in the quality of the experience at this park. We stayed over the Memorial Day weekend 2021. The tent spaces in Sherwood Forest and elsewhere have been reduced in size. Felt like we were putting up in a condominium. The tent sites have not been maintained. It was a rainy weekend and our tent site was flooded--inches of water under the picnic table. Luckily, we had an end site near the woods and we had set our tent up on a leaf bed at the far edge of the site (which was likely not actually part of the site). Our tent was spared the constant flooding, but our screen-tent/picnic area was a mess. Simple re-grading and maintenance would eliminate this issue. Similar issues observed at many of the tent sites. Our other major complaint is that the shower/bathrooms were NOT maintained over the weekend. They were filthy. A moderate amount of dishevel is expected on such a busy weekend, but the facilities were beyond that tolerable level. The facilities were not cleaned frequently enough for such a packed weekend. This is no longer a facility for anyone who tents and desires a relaxing evening around the campfire after a fun beach day. People were having lots of fun. For us it was way too crowded (because the site sizes have been reduced and many more cabins have been added. Cabin areas are, in our opinion, too concentrated). The owners are obviously making the most of the space and packing as many campers into the space as possible. No longer the park for us and we will not be staying there during our next trip to Virgnina Beach.
