While I was a little skeptical due to some of the negative reviews, my fears were totally unfounded. From the wonderful staff working the desk, to the amazing suite and amenities, the Barclay Towers far exceeded my expectations. We arrived a little earlier then check in time...no problem, our room was ready so they let us in. The room was clean, very spacious and almost everything we needed was supplied in the little kitchen. I did go to the dollar store for a few items, wine glasses, measuring cup, paring knife and steak knives, but could have made do without.
The pool area was clean and inviting, hot tub perfect ( except a bit of sand in the bottom).
The view from the balcony was amazing, I saw dolphins almost every morning. The sunrises were spectacular . The numerous jets flying over, and the various ships passing by was so cool.
Within walking distance of so many restaurants and little shops as well.
Contrary to many reviews, I saw no bugs of any kind whatsoever.
I am looking forward to going back next year.

Upgrade ice maker, maintain dusting and reduce ventilation system noise in hallways, more USB connections this hotel would be a nice place to stay. The oceanview was peaceful. The coffee machine great choices.

If you're looking for upscale or above average accommodations, skip this one. Yes, it's beachfront and on the boardwalk but would be considered a hotel moreso than a resort and I prefer to stay in resorts that are as nice or nicer than my home. The staff was friendly and helpful but no one cleaned our unit or checked on us during our stay. It was nice to get a break on the parking fee for an extra vehicle that a family member drove mid-week. All-in-all, the unit was nice but could use some upkeep as the floor molding was pulling away from the wall in our unit #726. It served the purpose which was to be a clean place for me and my mom to lay our heads and relax at the beach for a week. I prefer nicer accommodations as a timeshare owner though.

The only good thing about this place was the location. There was no tp when we first checked in and we asked if we could please have some and the first thing the lady at the front desk said was “you need toilet paper already” well if there was some in there we would not be asking. The room was dirty there was garbage behind the dressers and night stand under the bed. The pull out was nasty had no sheets and had stains all over the mattress. Grease on the walls and microwave. Oven light dose not work lamp dose not work. There was roaches 😭. The Landry room carpet is always soaking wet cause the ice machine was continuously spilling ice. This is my second time staying the first time was much better than this. I was staying a week and was old I was not allowed to park in the parking lot. I have 3 kids with me and I had to park in the sketchy parking garage. Also to take them across the road I don’t find that very acceptable when there was open available parking spots that I seen people check in and out and were allowed to use. The hot tub as we where siting in the hot tub one of the jets popped out. It had chipping on the steps of the hot tub. I am not going to be back to this resort I would give it 0 stars if I could. I asked the front desk if I could use there pen and she said she wants it back as soon as I was done. With that attitude I just went searching through my car to find one. Pulls on the floor when we first arrived

Awful. Dirty rooms. Switched rooms 3 times due to black mold and uncleanliness of rooms. New owner has false advertising there is NO free breakfast here due to his new restaurant he cares more about than his guests. Smell of weed where they say they can not interfere with people smoking weed in the rooms. Makes no sense. If you are taking a family just be aware of not having towels, staying up due to the bedroom being beside hall where you can here everything and dirty towels being folded up and laid back on the rack from previous guest ughhhh never again.

This hotel is in a great location, right on the boardwalk, with a tiny balcony overlooking the beach. There are restaurants nearby, some with live music in the evenings. It’s a fun area. The reason I am giving it two stars is because of the cleanliness. When we first walked into this hotel, I felt instantly disappointed. It seemed to be really run down. When we got to our floor, the hallway looked filthy. Upon entering our room, it seemed to be fairly clean. But with further inspection, we realized that only the surface was clean. My pictures show how dirty some of the areas were. Near the refrigerator, it was completely disgusting! The door to the balcony was covered with rust. I realize this is from being by the ocean, but the owners should realize that too, and spend the money for upkeep. The hallway was the most filthy! There was bread or some kind of food outside of our room for four days. They never vacuumed the hall at all. Also, we realize that ever since Covid hotels don’t clean rooms anymore unless you ask. But when we asked, the lady pulled a sign out that said you had to give 24 hours notice if you wanted your room clean. We were leaving the next day so we were unable to get our cleaned. We thought that was ridiculous. They should’ve at least pointed that out when we checked in. But it was not mentioned and the sign was behind the counter. We did notice the sign out after that happened, so at least they left it out for others to see.

This place could be really nice if they would just update it and do a more thorough, deep cleaning. But it was definitely not worth the high price that we paid! And honestly, the whole town needs a bit of a makeover. We should have paid less money and gone to a resort in Mexico. It would have been much nicer!

Beautiful functional condo. Nothing fancy but adequate. Unit unfortunately had cockroaches. They spray 3 times to no avail. Side of bed had screws whit metal shards the cut my calf getting out of bed. Same thing happened in April. Both times maintenance came and filed down the screw heads. Guessing there are other beds with the same problem. Table lamps have a problem with loose 110 v receptacles on the base of the lamps. They often hang out of the base of the lamp when unplugging. I feel this is an electrical hazard. Talke to condo manager in April and she knew it is an issue, however when I returned in October, the same problem existed. Once these issues are resolved, I would give them 4-5 stars. Most condos I stay in have washers and dryers in the unit. At this property, they are in the hallway. It used to cost $1 for both the washer and dryer, however they raised it to $3 per for both the washer and the dryer. When you do and other setting but normal, it adds another 25 cents for the load.

My parents have been coming to Barclay Towers for several years as a timeshare exchange and they have always raved about the place, from the location to the rooms to the boardwalk. My dad passed away early last year and my mom still decided to come to Barclay Towers in Sept 2022 because the place meant so much to her. I brought my daughter up with me to stay with my mom for a few days and we had a great time.

Fast forward to Sept 2023. I decided to bring my daughter with me again to spend a few days with my mom at Barclay. We both drove to VA Beach in the middle of Tropical Storm Ophelia because our family time together is limited and Barclay has never let us down. Oh, how wrong we would be this time...

Around 9:30 pm, while I'm putting my daughter to bed in the master bedroom, our next door neighbors come back and decide to go in and out of their room multiple times, slamming the door each time, with no apparent consideration for any other guests on the hall. This goes on for over 30 minutes. I call down to the front desk and ask them to send someone up to request them to quiet down. The front desk agent tells me she will send someone up but she really can't do anything else.

Whatever happened apparently made it worse because the door slamming got louder and more frequent. My 74 year old mom at this point has had enough and walks down to the front desk to complain. The front desk agent tells her that she called up and asked them to be considerate of other guests. Obviously this did not work and our neighbors' response was to be louder and more inconsiderate. My mom asked if they could move us to another room and was told they cannot do that for timeshare guests. What?

Barclay's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Rowdy hotel guests happen. I don't generally have a problem with that. It takes a lot for me to complain about anything in a hotel. But to be told there is basically nothing they can do to help and we just have to deal with it is bonkers.

As I'm typing this, it is after midnight. Our other neighbor is blasting music and singing loudly. My daughter is still not fully asleep. I will be staying at the Hilton tomorrow night. Do not bother to stay at Barclay unless you are a glutton for punishment or don't care how you're treated.

This was a very nice resort that has seen some age but nothing was out of sorts. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom was clean, and the water pressure was outstanding (and we were on the top floor). There were the occasional marks of age, but these are to be expected and they did not hinder our enjoyment of the suite in any way.

The reality is that there will always be a difference between the 5* hotel room and the 5* timeshare suite. As long as those difference do not interfere with the enjoyment of the location, then I am ok with either, and possibly more comfortable in the latter. The views are amazing hear and the timeshare setting makes them affordably accessible.

I would love to leave this place a 5 star review but the lady is the front is absolutely the most disrespectful and most rude. She greated me very rude and after driveing 7 1/2 hrs I did not appreciate that one bit I was nice to her and gave her no reason for the attitude. She told me to just insert my card cause there was a fee and did not tell me what the fee was for or how much. I asked and agian with the attitude. I got the answer from her. I asked one other question but after that I did not ask her anything else due to the disrespect. So I found out from the house keeper where to throw my trash amongst other things. She is the long hair sandy blonde with glasses short older lady. 😒 I got a none smoking room and every time we stepped out the smell of weed was overbearing. other than that the room was nice wish it was a little cleaner but it is what it is we are all human. Nice liveing room space. Nice little kitchen. Nice bedroom. The beach is right outside the back door which was extremely convenient. The pool and hot tub were nice. The hot tub jets were broken but still we enjoyed it. The house keeper was extremely nice. The maintenance men were nice as well. Would love to return but I’m not exactly sure with the customer service checking in.

The oven is a conventional oven. A full oven chamber and ours worked as it should. The unit does also have a dishwasher. I know the pool is open; however, I don't know the hours. Hope this helps a little.
