The pool area was clean and inviting, hot tub perfect ( except a bit of sand in the bottom).
The view from the balcony was amazing, I saw dolphins almost every morning. The sunrises were spectacular . The numerous jets flying over, and the various ships passing by was so cool.
Within walking distance of so many restaurants and little shops as well.
Contrary to many reviews, I saw no bugs of any kind whatsoever.
I am looking forward to going back next year.

This place could be really nice if they would just update it and do a more thorough, deep cleaning. But it was definitely not worth the high price that we paid! And honestly, the whole town needs a bit of a makeover. We should have paid less money and gone to a resort in Mexico. It would have been much nicer!
Fast forward to Sept 2023. I decided to bring my daughter with me again to spend a few days with my mom at Barclay. We both drove to VA Beach in the middle of Tropical Storm Ophelia because our family time together is limited and Barclay has never let us down. Oh, how wrong we would be this time...
Around 9:30 pm, while I'm putting my daughter to bed in the master bedroom, our next door neighbors come back and decide to go in and out of their room multiple times, slamming the door each time, with no apparent consideration for any other guests on the hall. This goes on for over 30 minutes. I call down to the front desk and ask them to send someone up to request them to quiet down. The front desk agent tells me she will send someone up but she really can't do anything else.
Whatever happened apparently made it worse because the door slamming got louder and more frequent. My 74 year old mom at this point has had enough and walks down to the front desk to complain. The front desk agent tells her that she called up and asked them to be considerate of other guests. Obviously this did not work and our neighbors' response was to be louder and more inconsiderate. My mom asked if they could move us to another room and was told they cannot do that for timeshare guests. What?
Barclay's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Rowdy hotel guests happen. I don't generally have a problem with that. It takes a lot for me to complain about anything in a hotel. But to be told there is basically nothing they can do to help and we just have to deal with it is bonkers.
As I'm typing this, it is after midnight. Our other neighbor is blasting music and singing loudly. My daughter is still not fully asleep. I will be staying at the Hilton tomorrow night. Do not bother to stay at Barclay unless you are a glutton for punishment or don't care how you're treated.
The reality is that there will always be a difference between the 5* hotel room and the 5* timeshare suite. As long as those difference do not interfere with the enjoyment of the location, then I am ok with either, and possibly more comfortable in the latter. The views are amazing hear and the timeshare setting makes them affordably accessible.
"While it is not luxurious like our. Wyndham properties, they offer a very nice stay in a fantastic location. Walk to anything! Amazing view"Read full review
