Found this gem while looking for secret beaches in the VA Beach area. Hubby and I enjoyed so much we can't wait to return to take advantage of other amenities like camping, and paddle boarding!! A1 location!!

Yes, that's all I can say, it's getting better than my last review of First Landing State Park. When walking on the beach after sunset, it is very difficult to find the boardwalks leading back to the park. These boardwalks should be marked with lights to mark them. My wife and I got lost last visit and on this visit... More

We recommend that park visitors walking after dark bring flashlights. Even with some lights on the end of the boardwalk, it really isn't enough to navigate comfortably. We try to avoid excess lighting so our visitors can enjoy the natural world. More

Great people working at this park. Older cabin but very neat ,clean and roomy You may incounter some critters other than you there ,but no issues . Just bring your insect spray .Just a mosq.or two seem to get you once in awhile . We used air matress for one child ,didn't like top bunk bed .Bay parking is close... More

Made reservations six months in advance and was really looking forward to camping here. We arrived after the office closed to find our name on the wall assigned to Pink area. We drove around looking for a pink spot and immediately noticed the small roads. My husband was afraid we were going to get in an area and not going... More

I am sorry that your experience at First Landing was not to your liking. It is important to select the right size site so that you have plenty of room. A pink site was probably not the right size for your camping equipment. If you like private campgrounds, you will likely be disappointed by First Landing any way. The campground... More

We first visited this State Park several years and when we returned we found it basically the same - LOVELY. Our campsite in D Loop was secluded and allowed us to hear the surf at night. On Friday night there was military helicopters running maneuvers which served as entertainment while at the campfire. The bathrooms are dated, but always clean.... More

We love camping at the Virginia State Parks and this one was another winner. It is the busiest of the parks because of its great beach. this isn't your normal beach camping where you're in bright sun and sand. Most of the campsites are quite private as there is dune or trees separating them from your neighbor. There are some... More

We tried out our first tent camping experience here in October & fell in love. We reserved our basic (no water or electric) site (A17) online & were pretty happy with our choice. The only downside was that it backed up to the base gate so there was a lot of light, traffic & talking going on behind us through... More

Overall I agree with the positive reviews here. The biggest issue is the sites themselves. We booked at home in Michigan, reserving site C15. Somehow we missed that this was a narrow site intended for a 20' vehicle, and was too short for our 31' 5th wheel and tow truck- oops! So I called the office and fortunately we were... More

Been camping here twice and enjoyed it overall both times. It's not a secluded camping experience, but is great for beach lovers. Pros: safe area, short walk to the beach, clean bathrooms and showers (that have hot water), friendly staff, family friendly, pet friendly Cons: Sites vary and may have lots of trees or very few. Some back up to... More

We stayed here for our children's spring break and were pleased. The natural surroundings are gorgeous. There is a short stroll to the bay beach access which offers a view of the Bay Bridge, many types of ships and sunset views while watching Dolphins play. The water temp did not allow for swimming but the kids had fun playing in... More
