Was looking forward to staying here. Lobby is nice but the rooms are old and tired. Historic means old. Nice upgrade so the room was much appreciated but the furnishings and the carpet are old and tired. However Emily in the restaurant was an absolute delightful employee and great brand ambassador. This is a great location and a beautiful property but seriously needs to be updated in the rooms. Gave it a four-star because of the service from Emily but the rooms are a three star.
An elegant colonial period hotel with 4 poster beds and English gardens and superb restaurant. We were fortunate to have patio seating during beautiful weather and when indoor dining was allowed, it was a 5-star experience. We sampled most of what they served during breakfast and several entrees for dinner. All were excellent and very affordable. The wait staff were some of the best we have experienced in my nearly ten years as a Hilton Diamond member . They made us not only feel like honored guests but part of the family. The Inn and the restaurant was an oasis during COVID. Our stay started under Phase 1 COVID constraints and ended after Phase 2 COVID constraints were in place. That meant that the Inn and the Restaurant went from little to a lot more happening. The restaurant went from attending to less than 10 to 90 at one time. We watched this transition and it was done with poise and excellence that causes us to remain loyal to the Hilton Brand. The Inn and Restaurant had adequate signage to alert guests to behaviors important for public health. We understood the limitations imposed and appreciated the extras that they were doing to protect us. Although we knew of the housekeeping restrictions, the staff surprised us with clean towels and soaps part way through our stay...we were about to ask when they magically appeared at our door. Likewise in the Restaurant we observed the attention to details, items wiped down that would not normally be part of the routine but important for our health. The staff were obviously well trained.…
This venue is beautiful for a wedding! Everything was perfectly orchestrated and the grounds are beautiful. The suite that we stayed in, however, was not so nice. The bathrooms were completely renovated and new, however, the bedroom and extra room with pullout sofa are very dated. The carpet is nasty and the room had a musty and smoky smell. Hilton should update these rooms and they would have a unique property.
Founders Inn was the perfect place for our wedding! The packages to choose from were easy to read and understand. The food and cake was fantastic! The staff was excellent to work with and extremely friendly! I will always recommend this place to those looking for a beautiful place to get married at!
Ellen and the staff at Founder's Inn & Spa serve the guests with tremendous kindness and genuine southern hospitality. The room was beautiful. We will definitely stay at the Founder's Inn & Spa whenever we are in Virginia Beach.
