We spent 3 nights at this hotel. I had read many reviews that mentioned the hotel is outdated and in need of renovation. After staying here, I would say that any person looking for an upscale, modern, sleek property would not be happy here. But if you are looking for a relatively affordable hotel that has a great oceanfront location and is family friendly, you should be fine here.

We booked an oceanfront room and our balcony had a great view of the beach, boardwalk, and the ocean. While the room decor, furniture, and carpet were all clearly worn and need to be replaced, we did find the room to be spacious and clean. Room had a large flat screen tv with a very large selection of channels, fridge and microwave which were both clean, and surprisingly the beds were very comfortable and we all slept very well.

This is also a very family friendly property and there were a lot of children at the hotel. Keeping kids occupied shouldn't be too hard here. The hotel has 2 outdoor pools and one outdoor lazy river, there is also a large indoor pool/lazy river. The hotel also has an onsite movie theatre which shows family friendly movies through out the day. And of course you are steps away from the beach and while it is not a private beach, the beach is large enough that you can secure a space on the sand with elbow room.

There are many restaurants within a short walk from the hotel. The hotel does have an onsite restaurant for breakfast (Greenery), the Square whale for lunch and dinner, and the Isle of Capri which serves dinner only. Greenery had a very good breakfast buffet but expect a long wait if you arrive after 10 a.m. We had one dinner at Square Whale which was very mediocre, our 2 offsite dinners were much better...no need to confine yourself to having meals on the property and there are so many options within walking distance. Hotel offers free parking in a lot that is across the street from the hotel.

Overall we had a great time and good stay at this property.

This is our second time staying at Holiday Inn & Suites in North Beach. This hotel is perfect for my family of 5. 2 years ago I had booked an ocean front suite, when we arrived we were given a ground level room that stepped right out to the board walk and the entrance to the beach. It was the best spot and totally worth the $ to have instant beach access from our back door. This year when I booked, I made sure to call the hotel and request to have the same room as I had 2 years prior. Bravo to the hotel, they were able to grant my request and my family had the same room this time around. Having instant boardwalk and beach access right from our back door not only made what we spent totally worth it but I didn’t even notice the small negative things about the room.
About 2 days of our trip was rainy weather. I was grateful that my kids had things to do within the hotel. My 4 year old spent over an hour playing in the playroom and then we went next door and watched a movie in their theater. My older boys played in the indoor pool at the same time. After dinner, my older boys grabbed some snacks and enjoyed a 7pm movie in the theater. The workers in the playroom were great to us.
Surprisingly the food at the square whale is very good, however the service is very slow! They move at a slow pace and there seems to be a lot of confusion amongst the workers. However, they all are very friendly, just super slow. Kids 11 and under eat for free which is a big help when you’re a large family.

We stayed during the Summer at this Hotel for a mini Summer getaway, and was looking for a Hotel that is with a Resort Style set of Amenities. We were given room 216, a standard two Queen Bed Room Type, with a Mini Refrigerator and Mini Microwave, and a Balcony that was not Ocean Front but faced an outdoor Pool and a side view of the Beach. The Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly throughout, and the Hotel has a lot of nice amenities: A couple of outdoor Pools, and an indoor Lazy River Pool, and a room as a movie Theater, and a Child Center Room for Babysitting.

The Hotel has a couple of Restaurants on the property, but there is no complimentary Breakfast, however, they have a place that they serve a Buffet Breakfast for a Fee in one of their big conference banquet rooms. We tried the Breakfast Buffet during our stay but we were not pleased with the taste and quality of the Food nor the taste of the Juices and beverages, There is also no complimentary Coffee and Tea at this Hotel. The prices of the Foods in the Restaurants on the property are expensive for what you get in our opinion, and the Food is not that delicious, but is just okay.

The Hotel is in a good location on the Beach, and although they offer some nice amenities, but the decoration really could use a make over to become much more modern and updated decoration, but despite the outdated look and feel, we enjoyed our stay, and the Hotel is in a convenient location to get to other shops and food and public Trolley Bus Transportation if needed, it's all right there next to this Hotel.

Parking unfortunately is across the street from the Hotel, so you have to load and unload and then park across the street in their Garage spaces, which is complimentary parking for Guests.

The Bathroom Shower was great in our Room, nice hot water and really good water pressure that truly can wash away any little bit of Sand that you might not have gotten completely off of yourself. The Bathroom Door in our Bathroom was strange, because it was a heavy metal double door, something that we have never seen before for a Bathroom Door.

The hotel itself offers much for families with young children. Situated with close access to the beach. Room was clean and had a great view of the ocean and we enjoyed seeing the jets from Oceana practicing their maneuvers overhead. I would have rated it higher had it not been for a horrible check-in experience. When we arrived at the designated 4:00 p.m. check-in time, we provided our credit card and was told our room would be available momentarily after the housekeeping inspection. We sat in a very crowded lobby with our two-year old and for well over an hour before we were able to get our room. We felt we should have been offered something for our inconvenience since in essence our vacation time was cut short. Either complimentary breakfast vouchers or at least drink coupons which I received once from another hotel chain. But absolutely no acknowledgment was given us by the front desk. Another patron was very vocal and complained loudly. She told us later that she did receive daily breakfast vouchers for her complete party for the whole duration of her stay. I felt something should have been offered without having having to make a spectacle of oneself. Checkout was equally problematic as we decided to stay an extra night and wanted to use a different card for the additional night. That seemed to cause much confusion as I now have duplicate entries on my credit card that I will need to rectify with the credit card company. Other than these problems checking in and checking out we did have a nice stay.

This Hotel was amazing. Don’t know why the reviews were mixed. The staff was attentive they had lots of luggage carts and security always on patrol. When there was a problem and my AC unit’s compressor went out they sent someone up with 30 mins of me notifying the front desk. Free tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was reasonably priced and could be included in with your package. The rooms are small but who cares you’re there for the beach anyway. They have DOVE bath products a whole plus. The only thing I would recommend was them putting a drip pan under the ac units outside on the balcony. To solve that problem while I was there. I just added 2 large bathroom towels on the floor and it stopped all the water from getting all over the balcony. I will be returning can’t say how much I truly enjoyed my stay.

Pros: This hotel has three pools! The breakfast buffet is good (but not free). There are many places to eat or order out from nearby also. Hotel staff are friendly and very accommodating! Rooms are clean. The view is great! Free washers and dryers (but either bring your own laundry soap from home or buy at a store nearby). There are many restaurants and stores nearby. There are three restaurants in the hotel and there is a seven eleven convenience store right across the street. Free parking garage is right across the street. It wasn’t hard to find a spot (for my little car) on a weekday, but weekends get busy! Hotel gives you a parking tag for your car, but not sure if anyone is enforcing that. This area of the beach (north end) seems quieter/less busy than other parts.

Cons: This hotel is a little bit dated and worn down a little in some areas (but not too bad). It’s nice that there are three pools, but some of the areas of the pools, especially the indoor lazy river and the outside kid pools look a little dirty (on the inside walls of the pools). When you first get here it can be a little confusing to get around since there are different sections of the hotel. Make sure to ask the front desk staff which elevator you need to take to get to your room. It can get a little loud on weekends, many people come to the pool bar and gather/party in some of the rooms. I am not sure if anyone is enforcing/checking parking tags on cars. It seems there are people other than hotel guests parking in the lot, mostly on weekends. Other than these little things, I think this place is nice. Pool walls just need a thorough cleaning, and parking needs enforced.

Thank you for a nice stay!

We had a good time! It was quite pricey and I had seen a lot of other oceanfront that was cheaper, but was a loyal IHG member because I knew what level of service and amenities I could expect. So, the cons are the price and the slow elevators and hot hallways in the afternoon. Pros were there are basically 4 pools and it's right on the ocean with great ocean views. Other pros are the free laundry, kids club activities, on-site movie theater and it's a smoke-free hotel. We got a 2Q + sleeper sofa suite and there is 2 doors that separate the bedroom from bathroom/hallway from the living space. We had the buffet and it is the typical Holiday Inn breakfast buffet. Fitness center is pretty small, but it's the only place there to refill water bottles. We parked in the ramp and just kept it parked and just walked or took the trolley places. The trolley stops right in front of the hotel and it's super easy to use the app to use your tickets, plus kids ride free with an adult. If you are looking for cheap eats nearby, I recommend North End Pizza and Domoishi (poke bowls, Japanese ramen and cheapest comes you will find in VB).
Beach is super clean and has soft sand and is staffed with lifeguards.

I'll start by saying that this was my third stay at this property, so obviously, we have had previous good experiences. The location is great, much quieter than the "busy area" further south. The trolley stop in front is a very convenient way to get to all the shops and restaurants. However, this trip had some issues. The first is that the rooms are feeling their age. Carpets are not clean (upgrading to hard flooring would be ideal), found curious stains on ceilings and walls and some linens. Was pleasantly surprised to find two mini refrigerators in the room though! The most concerning issue was this: We spent a few hours at the beach and returned to the room to find the door propped open. We assumed that housekeeping was inside, even though there were no housekeeping cart anywhere in sight. Entered the room to find no one there and the room had not been serviced yet. We were in the room for at least 10 minutes before a young man from housekeeping came in and was obviously surprised to find someone in there. He did not come with any supplies to service the room. I had to explain to him what needed replacing and he had to leave again to get the supplies. The disconcerting part of this is that my room was left open for who knows how long, I find that unacceptable. There are several IHG properties in the area and we purposely chose this one, but in the future, I may be more inclined to stay at one of those properties. With the cost of the room, I guess I just expected better.

Room wasnt ready until 5:30 PM (check in is 4) and we got “upgraded” to a ground floor walk out room. The room had mold all throughout the ceiling, shower door wasn't attached at the bottom, and the pull out couch springs were broken and jabbed my youngest child.

Thankfully my kids loved the outdoor pools and the lazy river. The hop on/off trolley stop is also right across the street which was very convenient.

Family (5) stayed over the July 1-July 4 weekend to soak up some sun. Room was ready on time, front desk crew were (esp Pavel) were helpful and professional. We had a 7th floor room, which was great, but limited to one (really slow and painful) elevator. With our gear it made for some waits. If we stayed again, would consider 6th floor or below given there are 2 elevators that service. Kids loved the pool....we didn't eat at the hotel (found the bfast pricy) so can't comment on food quality. One knock is that the rooms aren't cleaned during the stay - it's inevitable (if you go to the beach) that you'll bring sand up....with no real way to clean, which was a bit frustrating when you have kids who bombed around the beach all day.

The hotel has a 2 level parking deck directly across the street and an overflow lot just down the street. There are some metered spots on the street adjacent to the hotel. Parking can be at a premium at times.
