I checked into the Wyndham on Virginia Beach. My wife gave it to me as a gift for Father's Day. I thought I would spend the weekend with my daughter, and my grand daughter. We checked in on the Friday before, and the room was horrible. The carpets were not clean, the bathroom was short on towels, and there was sand in the bathtub. I went to the deck to open the door, and let the room air out. The room next door had people smoking pot. This is suppose to be a non-smoking hotel. I immediately called the front desk, and I asked if someone could check this out. I went down the hall to get additional towels, and other items from housekeeping, and I ran into security. They checked the room, and no on answered the door. Later that evening, the room on the opposite side of me has people arguing, and kinds jumping around. The pot smell is in my room, and I called security about both actions. I jumping around did not stop until after 0100 early Saturday morning. Saturday- Got up at 0600. Was able to enjoy some clean air, and some quiet with my coffee. Was not long before the people starting smoking again. Went to the beach, and then took a walk before dinner, and the fire alarm goes off. We took the stairs, and we saw feces on the stairs, and the on the stairwell walls. While we saw the fire department come & go, we were never given an, "all clear". We took it upon ourselves to go back into the hotel. Went to dinner, and came back, and around 11PM that evening, the fire alarm goes off again. At this point, I am fed up. I told my family that I was so sorry subjecting them to such a horrible hotel. At this point, I did not care about Father's day. I just wanted to leave. Sunday - I got up at 0800. Forgot checkout was in 3 hours. We got out in time, and I spoke with Nikki Parsons/On Duty Manager, and I told about my horrible weekend. She was apologetic, but I saw a look of defeat on her face. I cannot help but think this is not the first time (today) she had to deal with a dissatisfied customer. She told me that she would take a day off of my stay. I later saw that instead of giving me a credit, the hotel charged me an additional $272.44, for a total of $916.20!!! All of this for a weekend I never dream I would experience from a Wyndham. I can say with finality, that I will never stay at Wyndham. First & last time. If I were to stay at a Motel 6, at least I know what to expect. I expected better.

Room Tip: A good tip is, just don't stay here. Even the workers had a defeated look on their faces.

My stay was disappointing. On June 23rd I arrived with my family of 6. My check in time was at 4pm only to find out after the 4th time back and fourth with the front desk, my room wouldn't be ready until 7:45pm. Once I arrived in my room their were 0 towels and no sheets for the pull out couch. Coffee stains on the floor, sliding glass doors were dirty, crumbs on the couch, as well as a non working phone. My question was; why did I wait over 3 hours for a room like that? I had to call the front desk from my cell phone, only to receive poor service from the lady on the other end. Who in fact, dropped my call when I asked to speak to a manager. My towels and sheets finally 9:45pm. I am still waiting to hear from the General Manager. As I am hopeful she cares enough to learn how her guest were treated in this hotel.

We again apologize for the operational delays caused by the increased need of our staff to distance from guests, increase cleanliness tactics and alter the way our hotel normally operates. It has been a very difficult time for everyone these days but we do apologize that our service levels were lower than normal. We do hope that you were still able to enjoy the beach, onsite restaurant and our back patio area during your visit.

Thank you for staying with us at the beach and choosing us in your travel plans. We do apologize for any inconvenience in the delay with checking in and sorry that there were some frustrations with service levels from our staff. We are working hard to get our hotel operating with all our amenities in accordance with state guidance yet want to be sure it is safe and optimal for our guests. We are also disappointed that you were unable to take advantage of the pools during your visit but per our Governor they are still restricted for recreational use. Thank you for staying with us and we do hope you will reconsider returning once our hotel resumes normal operations.

Booked this hotel for a quick getaway with my boyfriend and I was disappointed from the start. Check in time was at 4:00 pm however when I arrived at 5, i was told my room was not ready yet and they would call me when it was. Finally at 6:45 I was given a call I could come in. Upon entering the room we were missing towels, cups, and soap (ironic given the current times). I called to housekeeping who said they’d get some up right away, to which I waited 30 minutes and no one came. Called the front desk and they said they would send them up right away. An hour passed with nothing so I had to go to the front desk myself to get items that should’ve been in the room given I wasn’t even allowed to check in until almost 3 hours past the said time. Staff did not wear masks and neither did most guests. Hallways were littered with trash and un air conditioned leaving it muggy and smelly. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is that you could walk straight out onto the beach. Overall I’m extremely disappointed to have spent $265 on a room where basic hotel room services and necessities were nonexistent and honestly a pretty gross. Find somewhere else to stay on the beachfront.

While we are happy that our staff delivered warm hospitality during your visit, it is disappointing to read about your less than perfect experience. We want all our visitors to enjoy themselves on the beach and while with us and are truly sorry you did not have the level of quality accommodations our guests typically receive and the service that is expected. We have notified our staff of this occurrence so that better and timely service is delivered in the future. We hope you otherwise had an enjoyable time in the Virginia Beach area.
