We stayed in the Cyrus McCormick room. The room was cozy with lots of interesting antiques and a beautiful fireplace. Kelly was a wonderful host always taking the time to offer information and serve a wonderful to go breakfast with fresh eggs fruit and pastries. The main room in the lodge is also friendly and welcoming. The hiking was excellent with various levels of difficulty. We hiked Crab Tree Falls trail (approx 6 miles) which was close by and a beautiful water fall view for the entire hike.

I can't say enough great things about the Sugar Tree Inn. It has an awesome rural location that really allows you to disconnect from the stress of everyday life and it's only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stayed in the Sugar Tree Country room in the main lodge and it was beyond perfect. We went midweek in October and had the lodge to ourselves. There is a huge fireplace and plenty of firewood to keep a fire going while you unwind after a long day of hiking in the jacuzzi tub. Russ offered some great suggestions on things to do around the area and it did not disappoint. Don't miss the Natural Bridge and the look out from the top of Crabtree Meadows is breathtaking. No wifi or tvs was hardly noticed as there was plenty to do to keep you occupied and the cell service was great too (even when I had to use it as a hot spot to sneak in some work). If you're thinking about booking remember to #bookdirect as they will make a donation to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.

Came here for a birthday weekend getaway. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing, and low stress vacation. The owners Kelly and Russ go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to ensure that you have the best stay possible. Their breakfasts were amazing as well as the dinner. Our only regret was that we wished we would have done the basket lunch that was offered when we heard other guests saying how amazing it was. Next time we will get one for sure! Property is beautiful and there is so much to do close to here. The best part for us was not having WiFi so there was no excuse to be doing work instead of relaxing. Already looking forward to returning next year!

Stumbled across this gem, looking for a place to stay for a local wedding. Wow, the Sugar Tree Inn is a destination all on it's own! The lodge and cabins are very charming and rustic, but clean and well cared for. We stayed in the CrabTree Falls room, on the first floor of the main lodge. The room is a good size, king size bed, en suite full bathroom and in room wood burning fireplace. There is no TV or wifi, allowing you to unplug and enjoy the person your sharing the room with. We sat by the fire every night with mugs of hot tea, it was lovely. We stayed over the weekend, Russ and Kelly go above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of. They are both so warm and welcoming. If you need suggestions on places to visit or hikes, they have tons of suggestions. We had the Friday night heavy appetizer dinner, breakfast Saturday & Sunday and the Saturday sit down dinner, all were amazing and well worth the price! The beef short ribs were the favorite. We abstain from alcohol, but there seemed to be a good selection of local beers and wines. Everything was freshly made and delicious. You feel like your having dinner at a good friend's house. There are short hiking trails, right on the property, as well as a small waterfall. The driveway in to the inn is one lane, very narrow and steep, but no problem for our little Honda Fit. We didn't feel comfortable trying to navigate it at night, so we made sure to return before dark. The views from the property are outstanding and well worth the adventurous driveway.

Arrived at dusk therefore unable to take in all this Inn has to offer and yet met with a kind host, Russ. Showed us the cabin rented, how to use everything; games, coffee, fireplace (complete with wood, starter material and flame!) - next morning the view was amazing, waterfall a great sound too here - walked up to main lodge for a great breakfast hosted by Russ & Kelly. Most genuine people ever. Spent an extra couple hours by the fire in the lodge just visiting and taking in all the amenities. Will return!
