We stayed one night -- we were upgraded from the Kildare to the Wicklow (repair work being done). The Wicklow was very nice and, even better since we were charged at the Kildare rate. It is a small cabin with a fire place and porch. We enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast (which, as others have commented, could be upgraded). Although... More

On the positive side, the grounds are beautiful, it's convenient if you don't feel like driving for dinner as they have a pub and restaurant (same menu) and live music. Very friendly staff. Spacious room. The areas that could be improved include updating decor, adding wifi in the rooms (we had no phone signal with AT&T and T-mobile phones), and... More

We met our daughter and her "significant other" at the restaurant to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Really enjoyed our meal and the beautiful lake setting Just wish we hadn't decided to also spend the night. The only good thing about the Kerry room was the fireplace with wood for a romantic fire. And perhaps the king size bed which... More

The Blackthorne is back in action, following break for renovation. We had a great evening of pub fare including pheasant pate and drinks at the Wolfe Tone on Saturday. Live music and a lively crowd made for a fun time with friends. Glad our favorite watering hole in Horse Country is open anew.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner though it was pricy. We sat in the room with the fireplace roaring, making it cozy on a cold winter's night. I ordered the wedge salad which was served crisp with a delicious dressing. My husband selected the night's special of scallops and I had what seemed to be the world's largest pork chop. Both... Went for a birthday dinner and had a nice meal. Scallops for me and a pork chop that looked like it came from a dinosaur for my wife. Our waiter sadly was new which made our service a little touch and go. The fella that was tending the service bar was a hoot. He saved the night with his wit... More

My wife and I had a lovely experience at the Blackthorne Inn and Restaurant on New Years Eve for dinner. We have been coming to the Pub on weekends for several years while our for our Sunday drives, but other than Pub fare, we never had eaten dinner in the dining room. First, it is a very nice atmosphere -... More

I had the occasion to stay here this past weekend in a room which is what I'm really reviewing. The pub is very charming but I'm not talking about that. Just the room itself. I'm generally not a negative person. I have mostly positive reviews throughout tripadvisor. Let me just share this experience. First, if you are going for RUSTIC,... More

I attended an intimate wedding at this lovely small historical venue. From the moment I stepped into the office, I felt genuinely welcomed by Sharon the owner, who also is the property manager, catering manager, etc. I checked in rather late, the rest of my party was about 45 minutes behind me and since the restaurant was closing before their... Where to start? The setting is the highlight. But you must look, not touch. The small lake comes equipped with poisonous snakes; the rooms, with stink bugs. Regarding the first floor cabin, you will hear every step from the room above, as well as other activities (sorry). The maids failed to empty the trash or vacuum the room. The same... More
