The Inn does not fail your expectations. The room was great. The innkeepers Jeremy was very informative. Took pride in the home's history. Ric cooked excellent meals. Both were friendly and you could not have asked for a better staff. Our first morning we had the baked pears with cherries and walnuts. The main course was a Dutch Apple bread...

The best B&B we've ever visited! Ric and Jeremy's non-stop hospitality and attention to detail make this a true Gem. The location is perfect, one block from the Rappahannock River a 2 blocks to restaraunts and shopping. We stayed in one of the suites/former slaves quarters, loved the privacy, we'll definitely come back!

The Essex Inn in Tappahanock VA. is perfect retreat for a romantic get away! Inn owners, Jeremy and Ric have an eye for detail and comfort. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The house built in the 1850's, is beautiful and decorated in period furniture. The breakfast is fantastic with homemade and locally sourced ingredients, and is plentiful enough...

Go out of your way to stay at this elegant home! Decorated in period style it isn't over-blown. Each room reflected a quiet good taste. Our room had a "princess and the pea" bed...I almost had to take a running leap. The breakfast was delicious and filling and well presented. We loved meeting the innkeepers and would have wished for...

My partner and I stayed at the Essex Inn for two nights at the end of August. We really appreciated innkeepers Ric and Jeremy's friendly, professional style - and certainly enjoyed the comforts and beauty of the house and its neighborhood. If you have business to conduct in Fredericksburg (as I did) the one-hour drive to Tappahannock is definitely worth...

These three words greet you as you enter this exquisite, historic inn. They couldn't be more appropriate! My husband and I spent the past weekend at the inn and had a phenomenal time. The innkeepers made the stay even more enjoyable. Jeremy is delightful and knowledgeable and his passion for the history of the home is evident. Ric is an...

This may be the only B& B in Tappahannock. We stayed here for 2 nights in July. The inn is very clean but needs some sprucing up. Just looking at the ceiling in our room showed someone started to paint it but stopped after about 2 feet. No one cleaned our room. The breakfasts are decent. The landscaping is in...

This was our first time at a B&B and will definitely not be our last! We had a group of 4 women so we got one of the downstairs suites. It was a full up condo with a full kitchen and beautifully decorated. We met the hosts, Ric & Jeremy when we were unloading our car and they were amazing!...

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our hosts Ric and Jeremy and their beautiful inn. A warm smile and heavenly hospitality awaits. We stayed in the Blue Room (aka the Reba McIntyre room) and it was at once cozy and luxurious. Ric's breakfast was outstanding. Great proximity to the river, beautiful garden, a welcomed little retreat. Even as we...
