These three words greet you as you enter this exquisite, historic inn. They couldn't be more appropriate! My husband and I spent the past weekend at the inn and had a phenomenal time. The innkeepers made the stay even more enjoyable. Jeremy is delightful and knowledgeable and his passion for the history of the home is evident. Ric is an...

This may be the only B& B in Tappahannock. We stayed here for 2 nights in July. The inn is very clean but needs some sprucing up. Just looking at the ceiling in our room showed someone started to paint it but stopped after about 2 feet. No one cleaned our room. The breakfasts are decent. The landscaping is in...

This was our first time at a B&B and will definitely not be our last! We had a group of 4 women so we got one of the downstairs suites. It was a full up condo with a full kitchen and beautifully decorated. We met the hosts, Ric & Jeremy when we were unloading our car and they were amazing!...

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our hosts Ric and Jeremy and their beautiful inn. A warm smile and heavenly hospitality awaits. We stayed in the Blue Room (aka the Reba McIntyre room) and it was at once cozy and luxurious. Ric's breakfast was outstanding. Great proximity to the river, beautiful garden, a welcomed little retreat. Even as we...

For our 30th anniversary we stayed in the "beige" room. It was beautiful and comfortable, as is the rest of the Inn. Ric and Jeremy are absolutely amazing and pay attention to every detail. It is obvious they love what they do!! The weather was a gentle rain and we had no agenda. Simply wonderful and very relaxing. We look...

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here one year ago. This weekend, we returned to the Inn to celebrate our anniversary. It was as lovely and charming as we remembered it. Jeremy & Ric are amazing hosts and the Inn is beautifully maintained. We enjoyed having wine on the patio surrounded by their beautiful gardens. Breakfast was divine...

I was lucky enough to book this B&B while in the area for work during the middle of the week. Jeremy and Ric made me feel as if I knew them the minute I walked through the big red door. The inn is elegant but feels like home and each room is very inviting. If you love historical homes, you'll...

The Inn is gorgeous and the grounds are a great place to relax with a cup of coffee, tea or a glass of wine. The Innkeepers are top-notch and are extremely focused on supporting local farmers and the community in general. Their breakfasts are amazing and you will want to save room for the bread pudding!!

Tappahannock is wonderful little historic town on the west bank of the Rappahannock River (across from Northern Neck of Virginia) and worth a visit for history lovers as well as just a little small town downtime! Essex Inn is a circa 1850 ante bellum house that has been lovingly restored and maintained and is well run by owners Jeremy and...

I attended a meeting at the Essex Inn and stayed there 1 night during the week. This is a wonderful B&B, with gracious hosts, comfortable rooms, and excellent food and beverages. The large building was constructed in 1841 by a leading citizen of the town. It is located in the historic district, just a block away from the Rappahannock River,...
