Recommended Inn when visiting Tangier Island. Established in 1904 by Sidney Wallace a merchant on Tangier Island. Bay View Inn is one of the oldest homes on Tangier Island and is filled with the beauty and charm of day's gone by. Our accommodations have fascinated artists, celebrities and business executives. Guest astronomy folks say it's an excellent location for viewing and searching the stars. Tangier Island's Bay View Inn will touch your soul for years to come. There are nine cottages and two rooms in the main house. Under new ownership and open year-round for you to enjoy a pleasant and restful visit to the quiet and remote fishing village of Tangier Island, Va. Featured in the 1973 November issue of National Geographic.

From the moment we were picked up at the ferry dock by the owners' son we felt welcomed. A short golf cart ride away from the main part of the island brought us to this delightful hideaway. Rooms have the requisite amenities and we were able to easily walk into town. Excellent breakfast too. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I went to Tangier Island with friends for a quick getaway. We arrived on Friday afternoon and stayed until Saturday afternoon. After consulting TripAdvisor we decided to stay at the Bayview Inn. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were very modest but very clean. The grounds were in need of maintenance but we were told that they had flooding several times the previous month. In talking to the owners they have plans for a major renovation which will make the Bayview a lot nicer facility. The breakfast that is included with your room is awesome. The food is delicious and they will fix you all that you care to eat. The owners are also very knowledgeable about the history of the island and are very good hosts. If you are visiting Tangier Island and are looking for good accommodations and a great breakfast with very pleasant hosts, the Bayview Inn is your place. I definitely recommend.

My Book Club read the book Chesapeake Requiem by Earl Swift. The book is an interesting history of Tangier Island and the current residents. The Bay View Inn was the perfect place for all 7 of us to gather. Tim Gott is such a gentleman and met us at the Ferry with golf carts to get us to the Inn. Maureen Gott, the proprietress, was very helpful in getting us a tour with the Mayor Oocker Estridge. Mayor Oocker gave us a tour of his crab shanty, his wildlife friends, and basin of eels. We learned so much about Tangier and really began to understand the need to protect our precious resources. Maureen is an incredible hostess. Breakfast was amazing and given that some of us are early risers and some like to sleep late, breakfast was served individually prepared. Great service and great food. Our rooms were very comfortable and charming. Outside there were views of the marshes and the bay in the distance. The Island is very walkable with views of the Bay close by. The Inn has an impressive history and is a beautiful Victorian home. My Book Club was able to have a meeting outdoors on a beautiful fall day with very comfortable temperatures. Don’t overlook this gem and learn about the Chesapeake Island.

Although the rooms are small they are more than ample and very comfortable. They serve an incredible breakfast that will easily keep you stuffed until dinner time (or you may just want a light lunch). Very very friendly & helpful hosts. They pick you up at the dock and drop you off when you sadly must leave. You stay in the cottages that surround the main house. We stayed there 3 times...
