I stayed here for two nights to help move my daughter out of college and to go to the dentist. I lived in Ashburn for over 20 years so I know this area very well. It's very popular with flight crews as it is only a short drive from Dulles airport. We come through town often and I chose this hotel because they aren't charging for parking - I refuse to do that in a suburban setting. In a nutshell, this property needs a lot of TLC. In our first room, the handle literally fell off of the toilet. I went to the front desk and was asked if I broke it or if it was like that when we went into the room. We were moved to a new room across the hall. In the new room, the toilet ran all night because it needed a rebuild (not just the replacement flapper engineering put in the next day). One of our keys did not work to open the door and I was told that the issue was that the batteries needed to be replaced in the lock. It did not solve the problem and thankfully, the other key worked just fine. The front desk offered to move us again which I declined and told me to report the issues again in the morning. We didn't need or particuarly want them, but we were never offered the cookies that Doubletree is supposedly known for. I was handed a bag with water bottles for being a Diamond member but it was never mentioned. There were additional issues in the room. One was the shower. There used to be tubs which were removed. There are now glass shower doors. The piece that is supposed to not move, moves. This is a serious safety issue and needs to be addressed by re-installing the door. The headboard is covered in a fake leather/vinyl which is peeling. There are snags in the carpeting and you must wear socks or other footwear. Our white socks were covered in dirt after walking around the room. We experienced no noise whatsoever (except for from the toilet), despite being in the flight path for the airport. I thought the morning front desk staff were excellent both days I had interactions with them. Also, the breakfast/bar staff were super friendly and efficient. If it wasn't included, we would have skipped breakfast (we did skip the first morning) but felt it was good quality (although not worth $15 if you are paying out of pocket and not in a rush - do yourself a favor and it's a short drive to Famous Toastery). Given that there are many other properties in the area in better condition, I'll most likely choose to stay elsewhere on future trips. With some basic maintenance though, I would readily change that opinion.…
We enjoyed everything you hope for in your hotel stay at a very reasonable rate. The room was very clean and comfortable. We are obsessed with the pillows and want to buy them for home! It was really easy to check in and out with the app.
Absolutely terrible hotel. There's more life in a funeral home. Very dull decor. My room was not cleaned or serviced during my stay despite many phone calls to reception. Shower controls were faulty. Didn't acknowledge that I was an honours member. Wouldn't stay here again
Hotel needs updated. Rooms not ready after checkin time. Front desk says rooms are not ready and we need to change floors, visit the floor we were supposed to be on and not a housecleaning person on that floor. Another person in elevaor mentioned he stays there because of work and if anything goes room the front desk will tell you it’s somehow on your end or your fault . Have stayed prior and had the same issues, last time for our company.
We did stay for 5 nights and the bed and the bedding was wonderful but the rooms need updating, the price for food and bar is very expensive. The front desk need to synchronizing answers, i asked three people and all gave me different answers about checking out time.12-13-14
Upon checkout I was charged and extra 1000.00 on top of my actual fees that I accumulated over a 6 day period of 163.00 plus take a day. There were two separate transactions. One for 661.00 and then another right behind it for almost 1000.00. Now hotels do take deposits for damages. I have never paid 1000.00 for a deposit for damages. this would have been the first if that’s what it was for. The front desk person could not explain to me what the charges were for. She said it might be for incidentals.m she wasn’t sure. I asked for a breakdown of the charges for incidentals and that they usually explain that when you check in. She told me she didn’t know and refused to allow me to talk to a manager. She told me to wait until Monday this happened on Friday morning. This was not an up to date hotel. Very old furniture and rusted appliances in the bathroom. A 1000.00 cover charge is kind of steep. Then to take this type of money from someone without warning is very unprofessional. Not allowing me to talk to a manager, laughing in my face and then disconnecting the call was enough for me to never stay in these types of hotels again. I felt like I was dealing with fraudulent activities and being ripped off. If I would have never noticed what was going on who’s to say it would have been addressed or returned, being that it was never mentioned to me to begin with.…
The hotel could stand a renovation, but the king size bed was really, really comfortable. Getting a good night’s sleep can be tough while traveling, but the bed and pillows were tops. We will stay here again because of the bed - not the decor.
Average hotel. Needs new shower head in bathroom. Furniture needs updating. Not enough plugs near bed. Took out my trash. Ice maker on our floor broken. Had to go to a different floor for ice. Friendly staff.
We came for sports activities for my son so we stay at this hotel for one night . It was very convenient and also relaxing for the family. My kids loved it. We enjoyed our entire stay at the hotel including the food and services.
I have stayed at this Double Tree on multiple occasions. It is a well maintained property with clean, well equipped rooms and a good restaurant with a great breakfast buffet. It offers a regular and dependable van service to the Dulles airport..my go-to hotel for this area.
