This property is located at the end of a long road with large camping “glens” on either side. We stayed in a one story two-bedroom two-bathroom cabin well-stocked with towels and kitchen equipment in good condition. The staff was responsive, friendly, and competent. Walking long distances was possible and pleasant along long litter-free trails. Seasonal indoor and outdoor amenities, e.g., camp store, boat rentals, were fewer than normal during Thanksgiving week. We have already made reservations to return in February. This was a beautiful part of Virginia for us to discover!
This location is fantastic and the cabin was roomy, clean and well equipped. There are many daily activities for all age groups. I’ve passed this location before but this is my first visit. I will definitely be going back.
The cabin was older with older furniture but everything was in good repair and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was clean and very relaxing. WiFi worked well and the tv channels were good, not a lot of them but a good selection. A lot to do in the area. Fredericksburg has a lot of antique stores.
Great place to relax, comfortable, everything we need including a relaxing gas fireplace, awesome. The staff was very friendly and were helpfull with our questions. The hot tub just made even more relaxing!
My husband and I needed a vacation didn’t want to take a train or plane and enjoy ourselves during this time of Covid. There were a lot of bugs I was told for the time of the year that was expected. I am a city girl but we did enjoy our stay in the Cabin, my husband even cooked on the grill. Wilderness and City about 8 miles away we will come again.
A very nice resort with many things to do and see on and off the premises. The negatives were as follows: Upon arrival to the unit there were several very dirty dishes stacked and put away in the cupboard (unwashed). Old ant poison in the kitchen drawer. The upper bedroom air vent was not working at all, and maintenance was apparently already aware of this because a fan was already provided in the room. Through adjustments to the HVAC system is was possible to keep the upstairs somewhat cool, but this made the living conditions less than ideal. Both of the bedrooms really need a ceiling fan/light installed for better visibility and air circulation. Mattresses were fairly hard (as found in some other resorts), but based on the size and caliber of the resort and units, I expected the beds to be a little more comfortable.…
Linens, pillows blankets paper thin piece of fabric as a quilt were awful. The pool in this section was filthy and only 3 1/2 feet deep Cabin not very sound proof from upstairs bedroom to downstairs. Other than that it was fine
This was a very good experience, especially good for families with children of all ages. Lots to do, for a price for sure, but prices were reasonable. One caveat, general store in the resort was variably stocked. For example, there was fishing bait, but we needed milk, a staple in families with children, but not available in the store. Fortunately there were 2 supermarkets within 6 miles. Also a large shopping complex about 8-9 miles away for all sorts of things. Resort easy to get to.
We were assigned one of the cabins. The cabins were very nice large well taken care of and comfortable. The activity center stays open later but everything else closes at five. And most importantly if you do reserve a cabin, you can check in after five with Security. This information is not published online. Security made check in very easy but without that information we were nervous that we couldn’t get into the cabin after five pm.
I would never discourage anyone from visiting this resort. It's great for people who enjoy lakes and woods. Beautiful area. Lovely cabins. Just know a few things going in. They start construction at 8:00am. While sitting on the front porch, drinking my morning coffee and enjoying the sounds of nature, every day at 8am the extremely loud sounds of tennis court refurbishing started. I think 9:00 would be more appropriate when dealing with people on vacation. Also, get ready for many rules regarding the recreation facility. DO NOT forget or lose the ONE card they give your entire family to use the facilities or you will be told to take a 5 minute drive down to the entrance to retrieve a new one, if they're open. Could they call instead and verify your info? They also kick everyone (including adults) out of the pool for the last 15 minutes of every hour to give the lifeguards a mandatory break. Kids were crying. Parents were upset. It was over 90 degrees and there's next to no shade. Now, the lifeguards switched out often so this was excessive. They were also sitting under umbrellas. Mind you, they require everyone under the age of 18 to take a swimming test so I'm not even sure why they are needed. (My 17 yo was mortified.) I'd rather swim at my own risk. (They could use those lifeguards to work the restaurant that was closed instead.) NEVER, in all my years of visiting resorts have I come across this. They could have such a great place if the management went to visit well-run resorts to see how it's done. There's a huge area by the pool that could be used for a snack stand. They'd make a killing! (Especially if they added adult beverages) Bottom line, try not to inconvenience your guests while they are on vacation.…
