The owner was super helpful, very knowledgeable about the area and attractions. Our room was lovely with a feel of yesteryear! Lots of charm in this Inn. It is located within walking distance to downtown, with it’s various eclectic shops, and the park with the beautiful lake. We will go back!!
Our daughter was accepted to Roanoke College and we came in for a night just to tour the campus and area and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Cindy Lou was the absolute most amazing hostess. She was welcoming even though we were coming in late. She had heaters on, lights on, and she left us a wonderful note and a basket of goodies including HOMEMADE LEMON MUFFINS!!!!! My favorite. Over the phone as we were driving she asked about our coffee/tea preferences and we were more than perfectly accommodated. Thank you Cindy Lou!We’ll be back.
What an amazing place! The people are even better! I loved my stay here. This is like a home away from home. Cindy Lou is an amazing person. She went above and beyond every chance she could. I was so happy I picked this place. It is so warm and inviting here. It seems like there is nothing that was not thought about here. I was left wanting for nothing. Cindy Lou left breakfast baskets that had delicious muffins in the morning, as well as some snacks too. They even had snacks in the room, as well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and water. All the rooms are beautiful. The suites are amazing. Well worth the money you pay for them. The bed was amazing. This place really left no stone un-turned on service. I will come back here.
For an overnight visit to Salem VA we selected the Inn at Burwell Place. It is a beautiful setting and a lovely Victorian Home. Cindy Lou was a wonderful hostess. She pointed out "must see" attractions and made great restaurant recommendations. The picnic breakfast was wonderful.
I stayed at the Inn for over 5 months. Everyday was excellent. I never had a single problem the entire stay. I could not have had a better experience. I feel very fortunate to have found this historic Inn, just pure luck. I had never even been to Salem before. It was apparent in the first few days that I was going to stay put, no need to look for any other place too stay. Location is the best, it’s close to everything you need. Cindi Lou and her family became my friends and I was sad to leave, when my business was over. I felt like it was my home the entire time I was there. Clean, quiet, comfortable, real hospitality (not fake) and run by some of the finest people you will meet anywhere on the planet. I was in Salem on business, but everyday at the Inn I felt like I was on Vacation.…
Our new home away from home. With our student as a freshman at RC, we have stayed at the inn 3 times in 6 weeks! We are so happy to have found this gem to use as our Salem base camp for the next three years! Cindy Lou and Mark are wonderful hosts!
I have stayed at the inn many, many times and each time it gets better. The owner, Cindy Lou is a dynamo of enthusiasm and cheerfulness that is indeed missing in this time. In such a small area with no real choices for accommodation this is an undiscovered gem. While on R&R she accommodated myself and my service dog without a bat of the eyelash and made both of us feel like we had landed at home. There are not words for the help and kindness she has showed me over my stays at the inn that can describe how great this place is or how wonderful this woman treats others.
It was nice to stay here, warm welcome the owner as we checked in. The room was very cozy and we sure did enjoy the basket of goodies they gave us. I met the other owner the very nice wife, she seemed very involved with the guest. We would recommend this for anyone that stays!
We were treated so special for our sons wedding week; we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to stay. I’m so grateful for having found the Inn at Burwell Place to have all my family (my 86 y/o dad and sister, my 4 adult children and spouses, to my baby granddaughters) together for this celebration. Everything was just lovely from the comfortable beds, spacious rooms, delicious muffins and fruit, personal touches/notes and more.. thank you CindiLou 😊
I decided on this B&B after reading the reviews. The Inn at Burwell Place is a beautiful Victorian, beautifully scented, with lavish furnishings, clean and beautiful rooms and bathrooms. You will certainly feel like a royalty in this place. I especially enjoyed admiring the beautiful bath fixtures. You just have to go there and experience the richness and qualities from the old world. All my past experience at B&B's have been wonderful, but this Cindy Lou lady, as the other people's review has mentioned, she is genuinely warm, thoughtful and endearing friend! Yes, a friend. I was in Salem for 6 days on an art workshop. Every morning, you had healthy breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, home baked good, cookies waiting in a basket wrapped in a pretty napkins with sterling silvers. The small refrigerator is always stocked with juice, yogurt and water. All this food provided us enough for breakfast and lunch too! And, please, let me not forget to mention the espresso machine in the hall way that you could help yourself with varieties of selections in gourmet coffee, decaf, tea and hot chocolate. I also thought it was nice that Cindy Lou was always available and answered the call if you needed her but was never breathing down on your neck, gave people ample privacy. It was, entirely, a comfortable, beautiful week to spend and most of all, the cost of this place was very similar to or even better than the nearby hotels. You get so much more for your money. Go ahead, indulge yourself, enjoy this beautiful home as yours for a while. By the way, there are stairs going up to the house, not bad but I don't think there is handicap accessibility. The guest rooms are also upstairs, too. I am not totally sure if they had the guest rooms downstairs or not. Call and talk to Cindy Lou.…
