First off - the food. I told Wendy I was gluten intolerant. That usually means dry, tasteless fare. Not at Rose Hill! The breakfast was unbelievable. You would never know it was gluten free. The muffins are to die for and the cookies were so good I asked for and received the recipe. Add to that, the lovely home, the perfect location to visit Black Dog Salvage and the adorable pooch that greets you at the door and you couldn't ask for more. I highly recommend Rose Hill if you are in the Roanoke area.

Wendy will be the most fascinating host you will encounter. She has deep literary knowledge and to my great joy read poetry while I was finishing my delicious supper (she is also an excellent chef). Her book collection is impressive, do browse to your heart's content in her library. The house is stunning, meticulously clean, and everywhere you look there is beauty and evidence of Wendy's many artistic talents. I had the most comfortable sleep in a long time in the exotic Peacock room. Don't miss this gem!

Wendy B&B owner, offers exceptional hospitality throughout stay. Her customer service skills are outstanding, she engages with each guest interested in their plans and finds from local markets and antique shops. Wendy's 3 course gourmet breakfast are delicious. The presentation of each dish should be a photo in a food magazine. After breakfast Wendy offers one of her heart felt poems, that extra treat you'll look forward too. Her home is lovely offering old world charm with private bathrooms. The claw foot tubs are perfect for soaking, unwinding from a day of exploring. When you enter the foyer you feel the energy of a happy home, welcoming guest. Wendy offers warm mulled cider afternoon and through the evening along with her homemade two bite desserts for her guest enjoyment throughout their stay. We especially enjoyed the Mexican chocolate fudge..yummy! Teddy, Wendy's awesome adorable dog will melt your heart, guarantee he will put a smile on your face. Cathy & Helen

My wife and I spent a wonderful anniversary weekend with Wendy at Rose Hill. When we arrived we were greeted by the charming host, Teddy, who was a perfect gentleman. We experienced a very cozy and relaxing atmosphere with a "home away from home" feel. The house itself is very charming and has lighthearted personal touches and hidden gems throughout the decor. The entire house was very well maintained and our room was top-notch. Each morning we were treated to an exquisite 3 course breakfast served in an elegant yet cozy dining room. The food was incredible and Wendy made sure that we left the table feeling comfortably full and completely satisfied. There was a steady supply of homemade baked goods and cookies available, one of which I am currently eating as I write this review. Wendy made sure to stock us up for the journey home! We were also fortunate enough to hear some of Wendy's phenomenal poetry! The location of Rose Hill is excellent as well. It is a quick and easy drive to the downtown Roanoke market area with access to many top quality restaurants and attractions including several museums and the Mill Mountain Zoo and Star. My wife and I would highly recommend Rose Hill to anyone!

A fantastic stay!!! The furnishings in this renovated 1910 2 story gracious home are incredible. Wendy is an excellent hostess/owner and the breakfast she crafts and serves is in a professional and personable manner. You won't go away hungry with this 3 course delicacy of a meal. This was a wonderful addition after a night at the Bergland. I highly recommend this if you are looking for an alternative to a cookie cutter hotel experience.
