We enjoyed a wonderful stay, it was like being at home. Ron has made staying with them a great and relaxing experience. Will go back again when in that area. The house was elegantly restored and every comfort for guests was there. Ron is also an excellent cook as well as host.

We stayed here with our friends, and had a wonderful experience. Ron, our host, is a great guy, really nice, and gave helpful suggestions for restaurants and what to see over the weekend. He also makes delicious hearty breakfasts of omelets, sausage and fruit and yogurt. The place is immaculate, with beautifully decorated rooms, and its amazing to see his... More

We stayed at Black Lantern the last weekend in May. A quick anniversary trip and night away from the kids. Although we were only there one night, we got just what we were looking for - a little relaxation, good food and a glimpse of a cool town we had never visited before. Our room on the 3rd floor was... We stayed at the Black Lantern Inn for our Anniversary. Ron, the Inn keeper was great, very cordial and made us feel right at home. The place was very clean and immaculate! The rooms were beautiful and the location was not too far from downtown. It is walking distance of one of the local restaurants as well as a few... More

We were met by Ron, the owner of the B&B, a delightful fellow who showed us around the accommodation. Our room was on the first floor and had a four poster bed, plenty of space and a spacious bathroom. He said we could have the run of the first floor. The breakfasts were delicious and well thought out. Ron is... More

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Black Lantern Inn over the Memorial Day holiday. The property is impeccable. Everything is pristine. This formerly condemned property in the historic district was restored over a period of 4 years. It is about 1 mile from downtown - an easy 20 minute walk.

Outstanding renovation by current owner. Property is kept in perfect condition and the service, food and atmosphere are second to none. Great deal at this price. Short walk to restaurants and lovely shops in the downtown area. FYI- parking area is in the rear. Will definitely be back.

We had a great experience staying at the Black Lantern Inn. Every detail was clean and luxurious. Ron was very welcoming and provided a tasty and filling breakfast. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was updated and the shared spaces were spacious. Ron & Claire have painstakingly remodeled the whole house up to the highest expectations with high end fixtures... This is such a great place to stay -- wonderful room, places to hang inside and out, great breakfast, great conversations with the hosts, convenient to downtown Roanoke, and great history of the inn. Two suggestions -- (1) pay attention to the owners directions for parking and (2) Go there if you are staying in the Roanoke / Salem area!
