Just got back from two weeks in Virginia we was based in Virginia beach but wanted to visit the blue ridge mountains so picked the Black Lantern to stay overnight and I’m so glad we did.The house was easy to find with ample parking and straight away you realised this was a bit special by the appearance of the gardens and house. We was warmly welcomed by Chris and shown to our rooms which was basically the top two floors as we had booked three rooms, the standard and Finnish of the rooms and kitchen area were 100% five star rating, the beds in all the rooms were incredible and all the bathrooms/shower rooms were spotless with a jacuzzi bar on the first floor. It was our first visit to Roanoke so Chris and Jayne explained how to wonder into town which is no more than a 15 minute walk

We lucked out by booking this wonderful B&B, because everything was above our expectations from beginning to end! Chris and Jayne were so nice and friendly, and have an adorable mini poodle named Jax. We enjoyed spending time with them. Relaxing with a glass of wine and munchies on the comfy covered balcony was so nice after a long day of driving the parkway. The home was beautifully decorated, and clean as a pin. Our Skyline Suite was huge and fabulous, with every amenity thought of. Thank you Jayne for the soft bamboo sheets and comfy king bed, a must for me as you know! :) Breakfast was maple yogurt with fresh fruit and granola, then sweet potato pancakes with homemade pecan maple syrup and chicken sausage links. Absolutely scrumptious! If you're ever near Roanoke, don't

This small B & B is so quaint and charming and the decor is elegant and comfortable. The hosts are engaging and accomodating and have such a generous demeanor. The food was excellent as well. I had the third floor suite and could not have been more comfortable,

It was lovely to stay here. Sadly only for one night. However the large bed was ultra comfortable and we appreciated the effort the owners have put in to make this an attractive and welcoming place to stay. The very best aspect of the Black Lantern is breakfast. If the owners ever do that B&B swap with UK hosts, the breakfasts here will go down a storm! Just one little thing: our bedroom had a detached bathroom. It might not matter but if you need the loo frequently, don’t book this room!

During our visit through Roanoke, we stayed at the Black Lantern Inn. The Andrews, treated us like royalty. Our room, with a beautiful vintage cherry king bed, was spacious and decorated wonderfully. We slept like a dream. We were in awe of the quality workmanship and the lovely gardens. We could not stay for their breakfast as we had to travel on early, but our host left us with coffee, homemade pastry and fruit at 5:30 am for our trip, along with a personal note wishing us a safe journey. On our next trip through Roanoke, we will definitely be staying at the Black Lantern Inn. Roy & Judy North Carolina
