Invited as Clinician for Opera Roanoke's Young Artists June 2021, I was elegantly ensconced at the Black Lantern Inn. Truly a serene, beautiful, generous spot just outside of downtown Roanoke, hosts Chris and Jayne have seen to every detail, and more. The Skyline Suite on 3rd floor was spacious, quiet and private. Access to aesthetically appearing common areas which included several eating nooks, inside and out, a full kitchen, coffee/tea available everywhere -- with many special touches to delight eyes and ears. Breakfast, hand-delivered, was generous and delicious -- all prepared in-house. Although on busy Franklin Street, traffic sounds are not intrusive. Hosts and pup are very friendly, interesting and interestED while appreciating guests' privacy needs, also. A surprise find in Roanoke -- worth a stop!…
I stayed in the Skyline Suite and it was even more beautiful than I expected. Chris and Jayne are wonderful innkeepers who made me feel so welcome in their home. Jayne's cooking is delicious and she puts in extra effort to make sure breakfast is amazing. Chris makes sure that everything you need is available, and even built a special place to wash down your bike. I was there for 3 nights and felt like a part of their family by the time I left. If you are planning a trip to Roanoke this is definitely the best place to stay!
Literally everything about our stay at Black Lantern Inn was perfect! Chris and Jayne are wonderful, personable people, and they made us feel so welcomed. THE highlight of many was the healthy and delicious breakfast that included made-from-scratch gluten-free cinnamon coffee cake fresh out of the oven. We loved spending time on the lovely covered porch, too.
Stayed there three nights to participate in the Ironman 70.3 race. What a great experience - my time at the B&B was better than the race. Great rooms, wonderful food (who ever heard of a great tasting GF cinnamon cake), and truly engaging conversations. Our hosts even offered to drive us to the race site at 4am! It was a real pleasure spending time there. I look forward to going back next year.
My wife and I stayed in the Skyline Suite the night of our wedding in 2018. We have returned every year since. We enjoyed the hospitality and shared breakfast (before covid) and the food-in-your-room option (covid-times). Chris and Jayne have been delightful and welcoming each time. Recently stayed there again at the end of February 2021 and loved the comfortable accommodations that include: mini-fridge and microwave in the room, breakfast nook table, private bathroom, the best bed I've ever slept-in, and a big room for lounging. I look forward to our next stay when we can hang-out outside and use the bikes they have available to ride on the greenway.
