My wife has the idea that one day she wants her own hobby farm, so for her birthday I brought her here for the weekend. It was only about 2 hr drive from Richmond. The house is nice. We got a king size bed. The bathroom was attached and clean. Barb was the very sweet lady who ran the place was great. I got a big package that included every meal. All the meals were big and great. She was very nice and called the week before to ask about preferences. She even got my wife a birthday cake. We signed up for a bunch of the extras, farm chores (a must) we got to bottle feed baby goats, milk the goats, meet the sheep, and horses, and ducks and chickens, and a ton of other animals. I was worried before I got there about how many animals were going to be there and what condition they would be treated. The animals were treated really well, you could tell how much Barb and Ward cared for them. My wife learned how to make goat cheese. She really enjoyed that. We both went on a trail ride. I always felt safe, but also had some fun. They have a cute little pony for little kids too, I forgot its name, but called him Little Sebastian (from Parks and Rec). We also had a bon fire one night and roasted marshmallows. I think that is it. The place was very peaceful in our downtime. I highly recommend it. Oh yeah, they have little pond that you can fish in. I don’t fish, but I thought that would be cool for those who like it.

The farm is beautiful and situated conveniently to sites like Kerr Lake and Appamatox Court House. Barb and Ward are warm, welcoming hosts who will gladly share with your their love for their farm and the surrounding area. You're free to be involved with farm activities or not as you choose. (With Barb's help,I made cheese with milk from their goats. And don't miss out on one of Ward's "Owl Walks"). The rooms are homey and scrupulously clean, and the food delicious. My husband and I had a wonderful, fun, yet restful time and hated to leave. We will be visiting again as soon as we can.

We just got back after renting the entire house for an extended-family vacation, and really loved the place. The owners, Ward and Barb, do everything from taking care of the animals to cooking, and they put tremendous effort into it. We were there with small kids (4-5 years old), and they had a great time feeding/milking the goats, hiking, fishing, riding Dusty the pony, sitting around the camp fire roasting marshmallows, collecting eggs from the chickens...(you get the idea). The farm is beautiful, all the animals are well taken care of, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We got the "farmhand" package, and added activities that we wanted to try. The package included all meals, which were really good. It was a great day and a half.

Although there are other things to do in the general area (visiting Appomatox, about an hour away, should be high on anyone's list), the farm is located in a very rural part of Virginia. There is not a lot to do in the immediately surrounding area, and if you are considering Cornerstone Farm as a base to go off the property, you are probably missing the point. This is a great place to unwind, wander around the farm, do as little or as much of the day-to-day farm chores as you want (within reason), and just enjoy the place. The place is kid-friendly, but really isn't for kids who are not willing to try the activities outdoors and around the farm. If you are unsure, maybe try a shorter trip first.

This is a really unique place. It's much more than a B&B, and it wouldn't work as well as it does without proprietors who really love what they do and who are willing to share their farm with others. We look forward to returning.

You come to this amazing and beautiful cornerstone farm that you will enjoy! When you go into the house at 12:00pm, and you see the cat right on the couch. Then, from far away, you smell the sweet smell of the food they cook for lunch. When you sit down on the lunch table, ready to eat all they cooked. Telling you what they cook will make you drool! There is giant Cheetos at some days, plain bread and sauce that goes with it, salad with different types of dressings, and more! You take one single bite and you are already in love with it. And you were excited and wondering........what else would you see on the farm? Would it be fun? I am going to help you find out!

By Clarice C.
First of all, in the farm, I want to mention that there are many types of animals in this farm. And I want to say that I saw an opened up turkey and a sun dial! Mmm, I love the dinner! But only because of dessert. It is brownie, chocolate and strawberry cake, and even vanilla and chocolate chip mint ice-cream! But I have bad news. In the night, you might hear farm noises like the goats calling out or the dogs barking, but it is seldom. At this awesome place, you can ride ponies, feed the rabbits and even go for picnics if you want to! And with a goat to carry all your food! Also for adults, they may ride the horses if they want to. In the farm, there is one guard dog that will let you pet him if he recognizes you. Also, in the barn, you can milk the mother goats and carry the baby goats! But be careful, there is one goat called Lusea, and she poops purposely at you sometimes!

It is already your last day, and you only have a few hours. You can stay at maximum only 12:00 so you want to stay longer. So you awake early, and you go to the barn to see the baby goats. Maybe there is a new born! But then you wish you could go pony riding. Then you go back in for breakfast, sad that you are leaving. Then it is time to go, but you tell your mum, before you go, you want to feed the baby goats. But make sure they don't eat your pants!

My husband and I got married here last month and it was an absolute fairy tale. Barb and Ward were so accommodating and made the whole evening perfect. We had a large reception (about 100 people) and everyone fit well in Cherith Hall. The food was excellent and the decorations were absolutely stunning. I also had a very large wedding party (14) and Barb managed to fit all of us up front perfectly and not make us feel cramped. Apparently one of the servers got sick and left early but I never would have known because everything went so smooth and seamless. I heard nothing but good things from all the guests and everyone had an amazing time. I recommend the farm to anyone who asks.

My finace and I picked this as our wedding venue for our upcoming wedding in October. We have been by a few times and each time I come I fall more in love with it. Barb and Ward are so welcoming and helpful. Barb has been my lifesaver through all this wedding planning and I can't wait to see how it all turns out. I will be sure to post another review in October/November after the wedding. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at Cornerstone farms. The hosts Barb and Ward were charming, breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the farm is a lot of fun to tour. Goats, horses, ponies, and even the birds used in David Copperfield magic show. We brought our dog, and she was welcomed and made to feel at home. We'll be back.

Barb and Ward are the best hosts! Thoughtful down to the smallest details. Our Wedding was picturesque, the reception was beautiful and the food was said by all, fantastic! My husband and I could not have changed a thing that would have made our day any better. Worry free for the Bride and Groom. Thanks Barb and Ward.

Three generations of our family just completed three days and three nights at Corner Stone Farm. Everyone one of us had a wonderful time. Barbara and Wade are natural hosts and very accommodating, the food is great and plentiful, really enjoyed the animals, and the beds are very comfortable.

A pleasant change to our normally hectic lives. Highly recommend this B&B.

I brought my grandson here for the "Junior Farmer " experience and he absolutely loved it. He learned a lot and liked playing with the goats. He really enjoyed the chickens and birds. He got to hold a baby duck and said his favorite thing was releasing a homing pigeon. He learned a lot about hard work on a livestock farm but had fun doing it. He also got to fish and went on a goat packing picnic. Barb and Ward were awesome hosts and great cooks because the food was amazing. Carter keeps asking when he can go back again.
