I took my wife for his birthday. The place was quaint, cute and the view of rolling hills was perfect. The Inn was spacious and had nice decor, and had a fireplace we put on at night. The restaurant was one of the best I've ever been to. The continental breakfast the next morning was more than we expected. Highly... More

I grew up in this stunning part of Northern Virginia (a horse person), so I know it all, come often, and always chose the Ashby Inn. Finally getting around to write a note to say what my husband and I love about it. The personal attention is excellent – ever since our first stay, Allan and Liz treat us as... More

We stayed in the Lafayette room for one night to celebrate our anniversary. The room was spacious and beautiful with a nice bay window and deck, and views of the garden and rolling hills in the back. The fireplace was stocked with wood, which was wonderful with the unseasonably cold temperatures. The concierge gave us several wine tasting vouchers, which... More

We appear to have gotten in the habit of driving from New England to Florida, on one of which trips we passed along route 17 in Virginia west of D.C. We were surprised to find a number of wineries in this surprisingly lovely valley - I was reminded of the first I visited Asheville, North Carolina around 30 years ago,... More

We very much enjoyed our first experience here, We started on a snowy eve by the fire in their bar area and the drinks were perfect. We had dinner on their glass enclosed seating area, and enjoyed a very nice dinner as we watched the snow fall. The wine list is a book! The menu is small, but something for... More

Really nice place . . . we stayed on the top floor which felt very private, even though we had to walk across a hall to the bathroom. Breakfast was spectacular, delicious food (although not very large portions). Wine tasting in the evening was fun too. State park right around the corner is nice for hikes. When we couldn't make... The Ashby Inn was just what we wanted: an easy drive from D.C. but a world away, surrounded by pretty Virginia farmland and vineyards. We loved the sight of black cows on snow-covered hills. The historic main inn is charming and tastefully decorated, as is the "Schoolhouse" annex a few steps away, where we stayed. The restaurant exceeded our expectations:... More

Be sure to arrive early enough so that you can enjoy the surrounding area in the daylight. This B&B is a historical site, set in a very quaint town. The drive from DC was gorgeous and not long. The rooms are small but very comfortable. Not sure which room we were in as we were graciously "upgraded". The room was... More

I love to get away and drive from the city into the country, and when I do, the Ashby Inn is my favorite place to end up to relax and find restoration. The property sits on a quiet street in a quiet town. On this visit the only sounds we could hear were from our balcony on an unusually warm... More

Quaint village of Paris, nestled in a valley between rolling mountains. Our room greeted us with Port wine and home made chocolate chip cookies. Breakfast was served with petite warm pastries and honey butter. A squeaky floor and a door that didn't quite seal well were the only drawbacks of our room!
