My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. The staff were friendly when we interacted with them. We had the five course tasting menu with wine paring and it was ok. The food was fine but nothing "special" and the wine did not pair all that well. However, the sommelier was very friendly and talkative we just didn't think... More

INNKEEPER’S FAVORITE REVIEW
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago via mobile

We went to the Ashby Inn for our anniversary. Everything about the experience was excellent. The wait staff were attentive but not hovering. When asked they made thoughtful suggestions about the food and the wine. All the food, from the appetizers through dessert, were very good or excellent. Usually there is at least some small thing to point out as... More

Staying and eating at the Ashby Inn is a special event to be savored. We have family in Northern Virginia, and have stayed at many, many places in the area. Middleburg's Red Fox Inn is great for high end, small town Virginia. The Ashby Inn is equal to it if not better, but offers the quiet solitude of the horse... More

This is an exceptionally beautiful and well run property. The rooms are spacious, quiet and exquisitely furnished. The location is convenient to a number of wineries which make for excellent day trips. For what it's worth, two of my favorites are Greenhill Winery and Delaplane Cellars. The food served at the Inn was a bonus! An outstanding dinner and breakfast.... More

We appreciated the attention to style & warmth in our curiously named "Victorian Room." I am recovering from oral surgery & was, in fact, returning to John Hopkins after our stay at the Inn. Our host Allen noted my apprehensiveness in ordering breakfast and was memorably thoughtful in responding. Thanks for a special interlude in Paris!

I just spent the night here as a quick mid-week getaway out of DC, and it was a wonderful visit. The house is beautiful and comfortable, the service is excellent (Allan really took care of us), and the surrounding areas offer cute towns and wineries, gorgeous countryside, and top-notch restaurants. I cannot wait to return.

We celebrated a recent anniversary here. Loved the view from the outside. We were greeted with port and chocolate chip cookies -- both were excellent. The guest room was beautiful and well-decorated with interesting pieces. Bathroom and room were very clean. The Inn was full, but we rarely heard our neighbors. The library was wonderful to sit in after dinner... More

I arranged thus getaway to celebrate my husband's birthday. The inn is nestled in the rolling mountains of the Blue Ridge. Our room was beautifully appointed with any amenity you can think of right down to the port. I had purchased a Summer package which included a lively picnic lunch and passes to two local wineries, plus dinner. Dinner was... More

Spent a night at the Ashby Inn after visiting a friends nearby winery. The rooms we had were very well done with sitting areas in front of the fireplaces and a private veranda overlooking gardens and pastures. A really beautiful view! Bed was comfortable and the area quiet. The chocolate chip cookies in the room were excellent. Breakfast was average... More

The Ashby Inn is beautifully situated, and it is a well appointed, comfortable Inn. There is a nice little library with a fireplace and a fine restaurant on the main floor (more about that in a separate review), and the bedrooms are upstairs. It's an old place, so creaking floors are the norm. The large room was spotlessly clean, the... More
