I just spent the night here as a quick mid-week getaway out of DC, and it was a wonderful visit. The house is beautiful and comfortable, the service is excellent (Allan really took care of us), and the surrounding areas offer cute towns and wineries, gorgeous countryside, and top-notch restaurants. I cannot wait to return.

We celebrated a recent anniversary here. Loved the view from the outside. We were greeted with port and chocolate chip cookies -- both were excellent. The guest room was beautiful and well-decorated with interesting pieces. Bathroom and room were very clean. The Inn was full, but we rarely heard our neighbors. The library was wonderful to sit in after dinner... More

I arranged thus getaway to celebrate my husband's birthday. The inn is nestled in the rolling mountains of the Blue Ridge. Our room was beautifully appointed with any amenity you can think of right down to the port. I had purchased a Summer package which included a lively picnic lunch and passes to two local wineries, plus dinner. Dinner was... More

Spent a night at the Ashby Inn after visiting a friends nearby winery. The rooms we had were very well done with sitting areas in front of the fireplaces and a private veranda overlooking gardens and pastures. A really beautiful view! Bed was comfortable and the area quiet. The chocolate chip cookies in the room were excellent. Breakfast was average... More

The Ashby Inn is beautifully situated, and it is a well appointed, comfortable Inn. There is a nice little library with a fireplace and a fine restaurant on the main floor (more about that in a separate review), and the bedrooms are upstairs. It's an old place, so creaking floors are the norm. The large room was spotlessly clean, the... More

I took my wife for his birthday. The place was quaint, cute and the view of rolling hills was perfect. The Inn was spacious and had nice decor, and had a fireplace we put on at night. The restaurant was one of the best I've ever been to. The continental breakfast the next morning was more than we expected. Highly... More

I grew up in this stunning part of Northern Virginia (a horse person), so I know it all, come often, and always chose the Ashby Inn. Finally getting around to write a note to say what my husband and I love about it. The personal attention is excellent – ever since our first stay, Allan and Liz treat us as... More

We stayed in the Lafayette room for one night to celebrate our anniversary. The room was spacious and beautiful with a nice bay window and deck, and views of the garden and rolling hills in the back. The fireplace was stocked with wood, which was wonderful with the unseasonably cold temperatures. The concierge gave us several wine tasting vouchers, which... More

We appear to have gotten in the habit of driving from New England to Florida, on one of which trips we passed along route 17 in Virginia west of D.C. We were surprised to find a number of wineries in this surprisingly lovely valley - I was reminded of the first I visited Asheville, North Carolina around 30 years ago,... More

We very much enjoyed our first experience here, We started on a snowy eve by the fire in their bar area and the drinks were perfect. We had dinner on their glass enclosed seating area, and enjoyed a very nice dinner as we watched the snow fall. The wine list is a book! The menu is small, but something for... More
