Walhalla Star hotel is a symbolic of gold mine era town. Me and my friends are really enjoyed to stay here. Since start after gold mine tunnel tour around 3pm so we heading to checked-in the hotel. We were kind of looking for the reception for a little while as a door locked. It's funny that I was thinking that... More

Once again our visit to Walhalla and our stay at the "Walhalla's Star Hotel" did not disappoint. The drive from Moe to Walhalla is the first introduction to the beauty that surrounds the beautiful township of Walhalla. On arrival we are always greated with a welcome that ensures we have chosen wisely on our accommodation. The rooms are always impeccable... More

Can only agree with the other positive reviews. We seemed to be the only guests on a chilly Tuesday night, but Michael and Russell were great hosts. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with access to the verandah. The dinner included in the package was delicious, as was the bottle of Gippsland wine (Lightfoot & Sons) that went with it.... We have visited this hotel several times and always enjoy the atmosphere. The food is lovely, the rooms good and the vibe is relaxing. We always enjoy every minute of our stay, especially the fresh air and a good nights sleep. For us, the lack of televisions means that it's an opportunity to relax and chat. Thanks guys.

My third trip to The Star Hotel & it never disappoints. The property is impeccably maintained & managed with charm by the lovely Michael. The dinner bed & breakfast package was excellent value with a scrumptious 2 course dinner of a delicious & high standard. We enjoyed the warmth of the common lounge area & the fire & self service... We had heard from friends about this great little town of Walhalla, full of history, and great bushwalking area. We chose the Star Hotel, also by recommendation, as our accommodation, and we were not disappointed. Very clean and well appointed rooms, huge comfy bed, and at night, you could hear a pin drop, it is so quiet. Michael & Russell... More

My husband and I decided to take a break for a night out in regional Victoria and after a write up about Walhalla we settled on the Star Hotel. It was as beautiful and as accommodating as described. The rooms are sufficiently warm during the winter period and the restaurant food was beautiful. Highly recommended if you are after a... More

We enjoyed our little one night escape from the city at this cosy hotel in tiny historic Walhalla. We had a lovely room upstairs at the front which looked out over the rotunda, floodlit at night. Big king bed and soft armchairs to relax in, welcoming thoughtful hosts and a warm guest lounge with books, music, tea & coffee. Very... More

We loved staying at the Star, which felt like a home away from home. Michael and Russell were very helpful and accommodating. We slept very well and loved the view across to the rotunda and valley-side. No hot breakfast but dinner included in our package was delicious.

The room was warm, cosy, very clean and adequate . The beds were very comfortable and warm. Outside the window there were ferns, greenery and birds. The restaurant was wonderful with excellent breakfast selections, and the evening menu provided good choices and food sized meals. The service was cheerful and genuine.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Winner of the LCBTA "People's Choice" Award for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Located in the heart of Walhalla opposite the famous band rotunda, the Star Hotel provides boutique accommodation with large modern rooms all with ensuite, king beds [twins available], CD player and air-conditioning. A visit to Walhalla and the Star is about stepping back in time to relax and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this hidden mountain village. Leave your mobile phone at home as they don't work here...if you can't miss your favourite TV program Walhalla probably isn't a good choice as TVs don't work in the deep valley either! The internet is limited too, so it's great "tiime out" destimation. A trip to Walhalla and a stay at Walhalla's Star Hotel provides a chance unwind and explore the amazing gold-era history of the township including the mountain railway, daily gold mine tours, heritage walks and fascinating hillside cemetery. ... more   less
