    I rented two rooms at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas. I was in room 3625 from 7/22-8/29 and was moved to room 2224 from 7/28-8/4... When I rented both rooms, they were both advertised as 1 bedroom villas with an ocean front view... I was told that regardless of the "actual view", the room 2224 was classified as "ocean front view"... However, they could not give me an explanation for such an extreme downgrade in the view, for a room that was advertised the same... The views are substantially different, however the price and advertisement of the rooms are the same... My request is that The Westin is not allowed to mislead people and charge them for a room that is misrepresented...

    After having just an ok experience in the south tower, our flight was delayed and we were forced to book a new room and move... So we lug all our belongings to the lobby and are told our room will be ready soon... We pay $1200 for one night and they tried to put us in a “villa” above the bathrooms and taco truck with smoke billowing into those rooms... I asked for a different room and we wait around for HOURS...

    We paid for a 5 night stay at a discounted rate in exchange for taking the 90 minute sales pitch... We were given a studio on the first floor... We went to ask for a room change... Nothing was available for 2 days, but they did offer to move us on Monday, but it requires we check out of this room at 10am and then go through the check-in process again at 4!... They said they had to return our original room to inventory, that was all they could do... Our room had no trash can except a small One in the bathroom...

The issues we experienced: gum stick to the floor of our room upon checkin; a room directly behind and downwind from the pool restaurant and toilets( our room smelled- no way to enjoy the balcony); as other reviewers have mentioned, THERE IS NO WIFI and very poor cell sign which aside from the issues you’d think, that means the TV is unable to use any streaming service and the pelotons in the gym that they taut are rendered useless; the staff is surly and gaslight you about issues (telling us that the wifi on the whole north side of the island is out when we can clearly drive other places to use the wifi); there’s no activities or service AT ALL... Use your vacation budget wisely...

I asked for a different room and we wait around for HOURS... We find this $1200/night “villa” in the back of the property on the highway and it smells like smoke and we are exhausted... I called customer service and told them it isn’t worth $1200 and that it’s a terrible way to end the week and I ask for a discount and she basically proceeded to tell me item by item why I don’t deserve one and is generally not helpful while of course telling me she understands... Highly don’t recommend and won’t be back...

Activities for guests are fairly nonexistent and if you want to learn basket making or hula, you will be charged around $15 per person for a 20 minute activity...     ...Room was not ready when we checked in after the check in time. Staff and managers did not offer anything for the inconvenience... Called the front desk, spoke to a manager and they were unable to move us to a different room... There are too many hotels on the island to pay top dollar for such poor quality and service...

    Stayed her for 4 nights during Easter weekend... The lady at the south building was much more approachable and knowledgeable when she explained why we couldn't pay to upgrade to a better suite since these were time share villas and therefore didn't give the same flexibility as a normal hotel... Rooms were a good size and appreciated the washer/dryer and full kitchen... Pool grounds and beach were great and loved that the pools were open til 10pm...

    ...Resort gave us none of the Platinum amenities we are supposed to get i.e., no room upgrade even though we asked three separate times and even though available on Bonvoy website, no check in gift, and no late checkout. (Platinum Elite is supposed to get until 4 pm... They wouldn’t even give us until 11!... There is only one pool server for 200 people... You have to physically go to to the one restaurant (which is a food truck with a seating area) to place an order if you don’t want to wait for the one guy to make his rounds... We were granted access to the guest lounge, which is a room in the basement...

    ...We arrived at the hotel around 10am as we were told that an early check in may be possible... We were given our keys but without the room number... The front desk assured us that we will be notified via text message when the room is ready and just then disclose the room number... After 3 hours of waiting in the lobby, we decided to check back with the desk but we’re told that the room was still not ready... I’ve voiced my concern that my phone wasn’t getting service and was afraid I may not receive the text message to get our room number... The front desk responded with sarcasm and reiterated that check in is not until 4pm... Upon returning, 5mins to 4pm, the room was still not ready and we were told that “it’s just a busy day”.Our frustration started to grow considering how 4pm is already a later check in time than other hotels and check out time is at 10am, our room should’ve had enough time to be cleaned... In addition to this,the front desk couldn’t provide an estimate time of when our room would be ready... Around 5:30pm we tried asking around because it’s getting late and we have our baby with us but we were treated badly by staff on site when we asked what was going on... So, we tried calling to see what’s really happening and if we could resolve the issue by canceling or transferring our reservation to another Westin hotel but the person on the phone was dismissive, rude, disrespectful and didn’t care about my family especially my baby at all... She just repeatedly said that their system was down and could not do anything for us... The resort clearly does not know how to treat their guests and manage their own issues...

    ...We didn’t see ANY bugs, the check-in took 4 minutes and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was incredible. We never waited more than 10 minutes for anything we requested... There were plenty of chairs available at the pool, and we rented beach chairs at the snorkel store down the road to use at the beach all week... My husband and I both had fantastic treatments at Spa Helani, the staff there is so friendly and the spa is immaculate... Special thanks to the attendants who run that in the hot sun...

    ...When I called the front desk to make sure we had a roll away I was told to get my things packed because they had an “elite owner” coming... So we lug all our belongings to the lobby and are told our room will be ready soon... I asked for a different room and we wait around for HOURS... We finally ask and get keys around 3:30-4... I called customer service and told them it isn’t worth $1200 and that it’s a terrible way to end the week and I ask for a discount and she basically proceeded to tell me item by item why I don’t deserve one and is generally not helpful while of course telling me she understands...

    ...Hawaii seems to still be having a problem finding service staff after Covid and certainly this resort is feeling the effects. We checked in Thursday and finally had our room serviced on Sunday... Any service at the pool is non existent and there is just one restaurant with bartenders who can't quite figure out how to make basic drinks without getting flustered... Worse is the staff at the valet who all seem to be put out and not able to offer help or directions... I asked for a Manhattan and got a shot of bourbon with white vermouth and ginger ale...

The room comes equipped with lots of cleaning supplies - vacuum, broom, etc... A team of 4 women came to our room to mainly empty garbage and drop off some linens, I think?...

    Although there were 4 people working the front desk and there were only 2 other couples in front of me, it took over an hour to get to a front desk agent... I told her that I didn't have a car and after a few minutes, she told me that she had taken it off my bill and acted as if she was doing my favor... I understood, it was mid afternoon and check-in was 4PM... Around 4 PM, I was told the room was ready and I was given my room number... I headed to the room and after setting down the luggage I said to my partner, not to unpack... It took another half an hour to get me into a different room which was once again, not ready... Don't get me wrong, overall it is a nice room but it is over priced and the service is underwhelming...

    ...We used to love it..however the last 2 years we have had bad experiences with this visit being the worst. Despite several calls to add notes and confirm my reservation i was unaware that the pool was closed until the day before I arrived... I asked for a manager to contact me and I never received a call... When we arrived on Saturday our room was not ready until 6:15pm... When I went to the front deck to check on my room after 2 of waiting hours I was told I had to wait in the half hour line again... After I waited in line, the agent called housekeeping and told me my room would be ready in 15 minutes... We got to the room and had just been cleaned in the lat few minutes...

    We had maintenance issues with our dishwasher and locking mechanism on the door of the unit. the dishwasher was rectified after a week and the lock was a problem in week 1 and 3. we had the lock looked at 8 different times... the dishwasher took 3 times to rectify with the installation of a new out of the box machine... the restaurant was too busy but the food was ok. the pool staff and the restaurant staff were good... the housekeeping tried their best but they did put dirty dishes from our non functional dishwasher into our dish cabinet... we ended up washing in the new dishwasher all of the dishes, silverware and glasses and pots and pans...

They mentioned you could use the pool at Nanea but you need to take a shuttle there...     ...We have been coming to this resort for 8 years, and we never grow tired of it. This time we were very excited to see that Westin's midweek cleaning of the timeshare units had returned... It is such a luxury to have your beds changed and towels refreshed midweek... As timeshare owners know, this is a service almost exclusive to Westin timeshare resorts... We were at the resort for 10 days, and during that time our unit was refreshed once, and fully deep cleaned once... Housekeeping staff members are so polite and almost immediately responsive... Every call for service or replenishing of supplies was answered within 10 minutes...

Nothing was available for 2 days, but they did offer to move us on Monday, but it requires we check out of this room at 10am and then go through the check-in process again at 4!... If this doesn’t here example of customer service, I’m unimpressed... When we tried calling for one there was no answer... Later that evening they did answer and delivered a trash can...

The grounds are lovely, nice pools (heated) and a very easy walk to the beach... We saw no bugs—not sure what that’s about—and the beds were so comfortable!!!...

    Very nice resort and family oriented. However, with all the money you spend, there’s always the opportunity to spend more money if you don’t get down to the pool early and hold a lounge chair... You’re welcome to rent a cabana for upwards of $200 a day... It is just moments from the beach and you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas there as well... And tons of fish and even turtles right out in the ocean no need to pay for a turtle excursion... The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are beautiful... They have barbecue grills and picnic tables...

    ...We paid for an oceanview studio in the north tower, with a jetted tub and a lanai... How is a guest supposed to know that so they can verify what they are getting... The reservation also says Oceanview Studio Premium Villa (something that they don't even advertise on their site) so how do you verify that... I am looking at their reservation right now and no where does it say what tower, whether you have a tub or not and whether you have a lanai or not...

    ...but I was surprised that it took heading to the valet upon arrival versus them meeting me at the vehicle (they were not busy). Our room was nice and well appointed... We were directed to visit the concierge for a welcome gift... I did not pay $900/nt for a suite to be treated that way... The Kihei condo we stayed in had many many more amenities for much less and was significantly more updated...

    We pulled up and were greeted at the front entrance by some extremely friendly staff, We were then directed to the front desk for check in, the awesome smell of White Tea filled the room, the check was extremely busy but moved fast. We were given our 1 Bedroom Villa with Ocean View on the 6th floor, end of the hallway... It was a great room very spacious and quite clean except for some of the kitchen supplies were a little dirty and I had to run them through the dishwasher... The Facilities are great and the beach and snorkelling opportunities are fantastic... We really appreciated the underground parking as well!...

    We had a great experience staying here and had zero complaints. Everyone, from the front desk staff, concierge, housekeeping and beach/pool crew were focused and friendly... The location, grounds and beach were beautiful, and upgraded rooms were lovely... Yes, it's a family-friendly resort, but its still possible to find some quiet R&R here... The only thing that keeps me from awarding 5-stars was the ridiculously high charges for the beach chairs and umbrellas by the Aqualani concession (not a part of Westin)... If I knew about this ahead of time, I would have rented chairs and umbrellas from an outside vendor after we picked up our car rental...

The pools and hot tubs onsite were great for the kids, mine were too little for the big slide but had fun on the pirate ship... It was wonderful to have the beach so close by (just a few minutes walk from our room!)... with plenty of turtles, no driving required... The room comes equipped with lots of cleaning supplies - vacuum, broom, etc...

    ...We arrived on Saturday at 10am… checked in and used the facilities until about 4pm when our room was ready. We booked a studio with an island view and we got just that... Everyone was very friendly and helpful and I did not encounter anyone rude at all... We stayed on the south side and the pool was open… was supposed to be closed until th 31st of October but it was open when we arrived on 10/22 woohoo Note: Maui is pricy so just expect to pay $6 for milk $8 for eggs….we rented a car too so that was helpful getting groceries...

    The grounds are nice enough, and it's nice that it's so easy to just walk out onto the beach, but there were definitely some issues that would make me rethink staying here... We checked in and we was not told about going to the concierge for a welcome packet... We received no information about towel cards and had no idea we needed one to get towels... We only later found out by chance that there's a welcome packet with a lot of information and a "privilege card" you can use at participating restaurants and bars... Amenities: We didn't realize that the South Pool was closed through to the end of October... They mentioned you could use the pool at Nanea but you need to take a shuttle there... The North pool which was open was smaller than I expected and consequently very crowded, and we didn't use it during our stay... Rooms: We were considering the timeshares until we saw our room... I wouldn't want to purchase a timeshare just to be placed in this room... The room was clean though, with enough space... It also had a refrigerator, small stove, a dishwasher, and washing and drying machine for those who find that useful...

We just got back yesterday from a very disappointing stay. We are a family of four traveling with two teenagers, a boy and a girl. When deciding where to stay, we chose the KOR because we were able to book a two bedroom- one with a king, one with two double beds so each kid had their own bed (note, it did not say this was subject to availability, it said we would get this room). We requested an early check in and an upper floor. We checked in the Wed before Thanksgiving at noon and our room wasn't ready. My husband confirmed the specific room we had booked, they said no problem. We had to specifically request that they take off a daily parking fee because we did not have a car to park, we thought it was weird that they include the fee if you have a car or not. At 3:30pm, I got a text saying our room was ready, on the first floor. We had asked not to be on the first floor, but figured it would be nice to be able to just walk out to the pool. We arrived at our "ocean view" room, that had a view of the air conditioning until and a staircase, and two bedrooms both with king beds facing the little kids pool, with no access to just walk right out. I went back to the lobby to complain, they said they had no other rooms available unless we wanted a studio. She said they only have 3 rooms with king/two doubles and people were already in them---so why did they allow us to book that room? She has no clue! No offer to do anything for us at all for this inconvenience. I had to speak manager and she gave me a $200 resort credit, which I did not want, I just wanted the room I booked. I told her it was my husband's birthday on Friday and she said they would have wine sent up, that never came. I called on Sat to ask where it was and they delivered a warm bottle of passion fruit (terrible tasting!!) to the room a day late. We were in rooms 2112 and 2114. If you stand on the balcony and lean far out you can see a sliver of ocean from 2114, 2112 has no ocean view at all. See attached pictures. We stayed here when my kids were little and got a beautiful ocean view room and had a wonderful time, this time staying at this hotel ruined our vacation. We will not return to this hotel, and I would not recommend others stay there.

I felt inclined to write this review after Kristen P obliterated this resort in the previous review. We are here visiting after working at a fire fundraiser now staying for an extended family trip. On day 3 my 9 year old daughter alerted me that something didn’t seam right about a woman not moving in the pool. I ran to look from our 6th floor balcony and we immediately called to report it while others just swam around her and did NOTHING!! If Kristen P and her family would have reported it and not watched her lifeless body “float into their family” for 30 minutes maybe she would still be alive!! Blaming the resort for their mental health inconvenience and then wanting some sort of compensation for someone else’s death is appalling. We met the woman who passed the night before and she was lovely. She was visiting with her adult sons and our hearts ache for their pain during what was supposed to be a nice family vacation. My daughter was a little shaken by the event but we threw some flowers into the ocean and prayed for her family. I am incredibly proud of my daughter for recognizing something was wrong and speaking up IMMEDIATELY. The staff JUMPED to action the minute we reported it, they sprinted from the lodge. Not sure why other pool goers in closer proximity didn’t speak up which is super crazy in my opinion. We are incredibly thankful for the security staff especially Justin for checking in on us multiple times when they really didn’t need to. I felt so bad for some of the staff members who were also heartbroken and visibly shaken with tears in their eyes. This is a wonderful family resort, we are owners and will continue to vacation here. Tragedies happen but the only bad review spawning from this event should be about the pool guests who continued to swim by an elderly woman in bad shape when they KNEW something was wrong!! Resort: 4 stars for a 4 star resort. Only one less star cause we had to move rooms when we extended our stay and the bathroom in the new unit was missing the front facing vanity lights, & stove top was still dirty and kitchen missing a few of the regular amenities. Not a big deal. See you in March Westin Maui!

This is our third trip to the Westin ocean resort villas in Maui this year. The first two were fantastic (February and August) During our November trip, a woman tragically died in the pool and floated facedown for 30+ minutes, eventually bumping into our 8yo daughter. A staff member then took a net and attempted to fish her body out. It was tragic, traumatizing and completely avoidable. We attempted to reason with management three different times and were told “we didn’t think anyone could die in 3 feet of water. Here’s a $200 resort credit” Our daughter is beyond traumatized and the Westin’s final response was “ we can’t compensate you for something you’ve seen”. Do not stay here and do not let anyone you care about risk their safety and mental health by booking a room here

The front desk check in person I encountered was horrible. They gave me my room keys and told me my room and expected me to know where my rooms was located on the property. Little did I know there were 8 buildings. They could tell me which way to go. They didn't tell me which way to park. Maybe she had a bad day, but at least do the basic part of your job. I would stay at the other Westins if you have the opportunity based on the front desk. Moreover I ask for some help with room service. The service desk could have mentioned we are short staff and it might take awhile. If the service desk was able to communicate that I would not have called so many times asking for a simple towel and wondering why it takes 45 minutes for a towel. The service guy at least apologize. I get it that sometimes scheduling, sickness or other things cause your workforce to have problems to service. First appearance, the general feel is that nobody wants to work here.

Never going back to this property we are the vacation club owner and this property one of our least favorite!! Stuff are rude .. even you say good morning to them don’t expect a good morning back !! We have many stories to tell my husband actually complain about two incident and meet up with the property manager !! The resort is super expensive , for example 2 beach chair and umbrella is $90 it’s cheaper to buy two chair from Costco and use it during your vacation !! Dishwasher didn’t work in our apartment !! Anyway for sure we are not going back to this property!! Two times is more than enough

We spent 148,100 Star Options as Owners at this resort Westin Vistana Abound Vacation Club (owned by Marriott) During the fires we could not return back to our rooms and my family of 4 were forced to sleep in our car and on street for 5 days in Maui!!! Vistana -Marriott -Westin promised they would return my points to 2024. But they LIED they put them into 2023 then said there was no way to use the points—so it was VOID. I tried to get my owner points back and they hung up after waiting on hold for 4 hours! I had reservation number #81940425 and they stole my points. When I asked if I could move my points 2024 or use them for something else just hung up on me after trying to call them for days! DO NOT BUY INTO VISTANA OR MARRIOTT VACATION CLUB. THEY STEAL FROM OWNERS. AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AS AN OWNER AT ALL. I WANT MY 148,100 put into 2024 immediately. Not 2023. Since the fires there is NO WAY TO USE 2023 anyway. They were so cruel to us during and after the fires. I want my 2023 points moved to 2024 now.

Aloha Lisa. We are truly sorry your stay was impacted by the Maui wildfires. We are sorry we are unable to extend your 2023 StarOptions into 2024. If we move your points into next year or unrestricting them will have implications on future inventory, making it inaccessible to other owners not impacted by the Maui wildfires. If we are to make an exception and accede to your request, we would have to do the same for everyone else to maintain fairness among owners. If you have not done so, please call customer advocacy at 800-860-9384 or email customer.advocacy@mvwc.com and speak to a manager to address your concerns.

Called to cancel my trip as Villas are closed due to the fires that devastated Lahaina and gov officials request not to travel to Maui. Marriott Vacation Club refused to provide full refund and kept $200. Very disappointed as we'll avoid staying here when visiting beautiful Kaanapali beach in the future.

We received a timeshare offer for 5 nights /6 days. Great deal… However as a timeshare property when you are attempting to sell a person on your property you were think that they would show you the best to offer as an incentive to sign up for the timeshare, correct? In my case, if this is their best, I would hate to see the worst. The rooms are not clean. I have spoken with two people at the front desk to complain, but to no avail. I called the night we arrived to complain because the room is not clean, the linens were dingy, the surfaces visibly dirty, there is a pubic hair in the shower, the dishwasher appears to have never been cleaned, the closet door where the laundry is is broken and has lining of dirt. My list is very long( pics attached). But … the most interesting thing is we arrived two days prior to our timeshare presentation. I am very excited because their hard sell and will be no match for my hard no.

HONEST Review** Beautiful experience at this Resort! If you are looking for a comfortable, spacious room with an at-home feel and full kitchenette options and a great on-the-beach option, look no further! ! I provide honest reviews as someone from the middle-class (black) who only stays in 4 star hotels (however planning this trip in less than a month we decided here and so glad that we did). SERVICE: Great service! Everyone was welcoming, helpful and available when needed. We missed an entire night due to a cancelled flight and they worked with us. Check in was easy, even though busy at time of checkin. ROOM: We booked the "Islandview Studio Premium Villa" at the North resort and loved it! From the moment we booked until after we left, we enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and beautiful, clean, practical. You can cook in the units as well as do your laundry there, they even included laundry soap- incredible and we used a couple times during our stay. We loved the large jet tub as well and the provided soap/shampoo/conditioner. The bed was very comfortable, as were the linens. The patio was beautiful and our room overlooked the children's pool but you could still still the ocean and palm trees. It was always quiet. Wifi always worked. AMENITIES/GROUNDS: Great amenities, pools (adults & kids in separate sides/areas), whirlpool, snorkeling, fitness center, cultural center, activities & shows like hula dancing, craft fairs, etc and the Spa! We loved the on-site restaurant "Pailolo Grill & Bar" and ate there almost daily. While we came during the very busy season (Feb/March), things were crowded but still fun. They also have a full service on-site market store with all the basic, like a Target Express. The only thing that could use improvement is the hallway walls in some areas have been dinged/scratches and could use some paint. Otherwise, beautiful! LOCATION: Absolute perfection. Close enough to everything but far away for a peaceful escape. Also, they have the best beach area along Lahaina. PARKING: Always available and ample parking. Overall- highly recommend and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We loved our stay and hope to come again in the future. We do NOT understand the negative reviews.

I rented two rooms at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas. I was in room 3625 from 7/22-8/29 and was moved to room 2224 from 7/28-8/4. When I rented both rooms, they were both advertised as 1 bedroom villas with an ocean front view. As you can see from the photos, the views are substantially different. I was told that regardless of the "actual view", the room 2224 was classified as "ocean front view". However, they could not give me an explanation for such an extreme downgrade in the view, for a room that was advertised the same. I was offered a $100 resort credit, that I declined. Please look at the attached photos. The views are substantially different, however the price and advertisement of the rooms are the same. My request is that The Westin is not allowed to mislead people and charge them for a room that is misrepresented. .
