Luxurious, Convenient Place to Stay while in Maui
We did a big family trip to Maui and we booked several of the 2-bedroom condos at this resort. It is a beautiful property with lovely gardens, a nice pool and is directly on the beach, so it is very convenient if you don't want to go far! There are amenities on site including a pool bar, a restaurant, a small store with Starbucks in it and a smaller coffee shop as well. You can walk to nearby resorts as well as Duke's restaurant. The condos are new and are lovely. Both rooms had king size beds and large bathrooms. One room has a large tub which was great for after sun soaking! The beds are very comfortable! The kitchens include a dishwasher, full stove with oven, microwave, toaster and blender. And coffee maker. You do need to ask for coffee filters at the front desk if you aren't using the coffee provided. There are lots of BBQ's available outside. We had a balcony that was large enough for several of us to sit and offered a nice view of the gardens. The noise level between rooms seems very good; we didn't hear a lot of noise from other guests nearby, except from the hallway. They have a place where you can rent snorkel gear, boogie boards, etc. It was a bit more expensive than the local Snorkel Bob's, but convenient. This is definitely a family resort, so be prepared for lots and lots of kids of all ages. This made the pool less fun to hang out for us (all of our kids are over 13 years). They do have a few adult only plunge pools and a hot tub, fyi. However, we spent most of our time at the beach. We could swim, boogie board and snorkel right there. Be aware though, that there is quite a current and so you need to be prepared for that. From the beach we watched the sun set every night and we were treated to whales in the distance, though at times, they seemed pretty close. We also saw dolphins and at least one turtle. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. We needed someone to fix a lamp that wasn't working and they took care of it quickly! Also, if you choose not to do housekeeping every day, you are rewarded with a voucher for the breakfast buffet for one adult. We got four of them over our week stay! The only problem we had was having to wait to meet with our assigned concierge to get our pool towel cards. I would advise anyone coming in to ask for them at the front desk right away rather than fall for the "meet your concierge first" line. I waited 30 minutes to get towels, when all we wanted to do after a long day of travel was get in the water! Also, my brother in law is an ambassador member and he said that the usual perks weren't available like late check-out. Only one last thing I would add, it's pricey for sure. But I would say that I really feel that we got what we paid for. It's a beautiful place, lovely surroundings and modern and luxurious condos.
Aloha Colleen P, We are excited to hear your kind words and want to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! It is positive words like yours that keep our staff motivated and strive to make your stay memorable and unique. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish your family a great year and look forward to welcoming you back to our Westin Ohana. Mahalo,

    Beautiful Resort
Westin Nanea is beautiful. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with an abundance of outlets, a full kitchen with all supplies necessary, and plenty of bright light and space. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa with an island view. Our villa was about 1,500 sq.ft. and came with all the Westin touches. There are a few things keeping me from making it a five star review: 1. They do not provide coffee filters (Marriott Ocean Club does) 2. They provide powder laundry soap for just one load (Marriott Ocean Club provides a jug of liquid soap - enough for the stay) 3. The pool chairs have a very, very small view of the ocean. You have to sit on the sand (no service on the beach but you can rent chairs and umbrellas) to see the water and the surf. 4. There is only one shower to rinse off sand so there tends to be a wait time for that. 5. It's a very spread out resort - if you have an island view room it will take several minutes to reach the pool area to hang out.
Aloha J3548ULkimb Thank you for taking the time to review our resort! We appreciate you choosing us as your Maui resort destination. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Mahalo, The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas

    Great property, great location
Julie and I have been to Kaanapali beach many times but this was our first stay at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms large and well appointed and the resort staff very nice. And the beach was amazing with some of the best snorkeling on Maui right at your doorstep. Hawaii just opened up on October 15 and we were nervous about the Covid protocols but the hotel did an amazing job of enforcing masking and social distancing requirements and there was hand sanitizer everywhere and I mean everywhere. The good news is that nothing was crowded but the bad news is a lot of things were closed including resort amenities. In fact the only thing that was open was the pool restaurant with reduced hours and a minimal menu. But everything we needed was it within a short walk or drive and many restaurants were open in Lahaina (Although most of the shops were closed). This resort is a little pricey. We paid $575 a night with all taxes and fees for a two bedroom condo. Considering that you do not have daily maid service nor access to the fitness center, other on site restaurants/deli/market or the business center or any of the general resort activities we felt that the hotel should’ve discounted their rates - but they didn’t except for waiving the daily $20 “resort fee”. But we had a wonderful time and will definitely consider this resort when we next return to Kaanapali.
Aloha Markobrown, Thank you for your review about our protocols and requirements when travelling during this pandemic. Looks like we achieved our goal to provide a safe renewal. We look forward to your return. MAHALO!

Although I have NOT travelled here yet, I had reservations from Sept. 24 - 29, 2023 booked with Marriott Vacation Club points.  After receiving the email this morning, I called Marriott Vacation Club to see if they would EXTEND the points that I had booked this trip with (they are due to expire in November 2023).  They have ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to extend them  (even though I am at the executive level - and have been owners for MANY years). Is there any thing that I can do in light of the fact that: 1.  This was a natural disaster 2.  MARRIOTT closed the resort None of this was of my own doing obviously. I don't want any money, any extra paints .... nothing! I just want them to EXTEND the points that I was going to use on this vacation past their original expiration date of November 4, 2023. Has anyone had any luck with getting their points extended with Marriotts for an upcoming Maui vacation?

Pros Room: The room is excellent and very well-maintained On-Site Convenience Store: Very good with lots of essentials. Would have loved to see them sell fresh milk. Mauka Makai: The restaurant is excellent for breakfast. Service was promot and hospitable every single day. Pools, Grounds, Beach: Very well maintained property. Excellent pools, grounds, very fine beach. Hospitality: Overall hospitality was very good. Requests for the room were promptly addressed. Areas of Development The only option for on-site lunch and dinner is the Innu Pool bar where the food leaves a lot to be desired. The pizza was not fresh at all. Almost no options for vegetarians. They need to expand and offer better on-site food options for lunch and dinner. Activities for Toddlers: No resort activities for toddlers. Would love to see this. No Water Stations: There were no water stations on every floor. There was no water station in the entire building we were staying in. There was one by the pool. They need to add more water stations to reduce plastic usage. They should also consider handing out reusable water bottles to each gues during check-in similar to other Marriott hotels in Hawaii and help do their part in keeping Hawaii beautiful.

I am an owner of 2 Westin Properties - one in Maui and on in Mexico. These are not cheap and the yearly fees are in the several thousands of dollars each per year. When a "Special Offer" was extended to me to spend 5 nights at the newer Nanea property for a reduced rate I foolishly thought that my ownerships were considered valuable and important. Once I puchased this 5 night offer I had a year to use it. Knowing that there are very restricted times that our family can travel I made sure several times before purchasing that booking in March would not be a problem. Well, just the beginning of the problem. 1/ Was a HUGE issue to book in March and I had to be trasferred to several people (and become quite upset which is not my nature) before finally getting a March booking 2/ Was given a "Resort View" room. NOT. We are looking DIRECTLY into the rasied carpark and the highway. 3/ It wasn't quite loud enough being by the highway -the delivery trucks run until 11pm with their loud reverse honking keeping us up. As part of the reason for our visit was for our teenagers to train with their team at 530am in the pool being up til after 11 and up at 445 was a disaster 4/ Had to sign something at the resort concierge saying we had received the 15,000 star points which is really so they can try and sell you more stuff. When I declined a further 2 hour meeting on a sales pitch the sales clerk actually said " you should go to show your appreciation for the great offer you received". The list goes on but I am tired. Bottom line - NEVER BUY WITH THIS COMPANY! Attempts to talk to managers were thwarted at the front desk. NOT impressed.

Our family of eight -- grandparents, kids and grandkids -- had an awesome experience with photographer Kaui with Blinnk photography. The session was easy, quick and fun, even for a 5 yr, 8 yr and 9 yr old and yielded great results . . . the video and prints were top quality. We're so glad that it was so easy to get great family photos right at our Nanea resort!

Very nice resort. Some confusion upon arrival in that they supposedly offer free valet the first day; but we later realized the valets expect a $15 tip. Rooms are fine. Pool is great although seating is a bit tight. They should filter out pool crashers better though.

*The cons - shade and seating for both pool and the beach are really hard* - I should have trusted the Tripadvisor forums where experienced travelers said Westin has overbuilt the property. We weren't even there during a peak holiday week. If we wanted a pool chair where we could easily see our kiddo in the pool and have shade, I had to get to the pool by 6:30am (literally!). You could get leftovers by 7, and pretty much nothing post 8. We saw families of 4 with two little kids sharing one chair. - They charge $100 a day for chairs and umbrellas at the beach. This just increases the pressure on the pool chairs. I couldn't help but compare this with other Marriott/Westin properties where complimentary beach chairs are provided at the pool. - I am sure someone from the property will chime in to say "hey, you could rent a casebella". Well, they were booked out 3 days out and also cost 100 bucks plus. - Or the other response: 'you can walk to the next Westin'...well, it’s not easy dragging wet kiddos from one spot to another and the other Westin has its own crowd. They could improve this experience if they chose to offer complimentary beach chairs or even offered them in 2-hour blocks. Though honestly, the property needed at least one more pool for the amount of buildings (and they definitely have the space). Pros: *The ground staff and housekeeping are the sweetest and best* You see them working throughout the day, the property is super well maintained. They were always really sweet and helpful. *The rooms are still fairly new and lovely* We had a two bedroom villa, it was modern, clean and well maintained. *Tips* If you can book well in advance, get an ocean view. The property has limited ocean views, and while we did not get to stay at one, we could tell the views from those would have been spectacular.

We were wondering about what islands we saw next to Maui and asked Concierge, Aaron Joseph. He not only told us what islands, but he told us what other ‘free’ things we could do and how to get there. He was a ‘wealth’ of knowledge and was so kind to share all he knew and then offered to email it to us. Thank you for hiring such amazing people like Aaron who take their job seriously and show the highest regard for Customer Service.

We were here last week with our adult daughter & son in law. We have stayed here many times as we get a deal when we go to their timeshare talk. We had a 2 bedroom unit and it was perfect for the 4 of us. Location is perfect, place is clean, beds are very comfortable and staff is very friendly. The place is right on the beach and the best snorkeling anywhere. Shopping is very nearby too. I know it sounds strange but I recommend their timeshare talk. You get a great deal and they are true to their word. It really is only 90 minutes (to the minute) and they are very low pressure. The only negative about this place is the big families tend to take over the BBQ grills even though there are signs everywhere not to. Also people get to the pool very early and put towels on the chairs so it's hard to find a chair on the shade. The signs say after 90 minutes they'll come and move your stuff if you're not there but I've never seen them do it.

Customer Service is on another level. Danielle the main front desk manager went out of her way to set us up with a charging station for our Tesla rental. Next time we hook into Maui we will be staying here simply based on how amazing she is!

I’m hoping other families will not get duped like we have been! Don’t let them fool you on the “ocean front Villa “ We booked our oceanfront stay many many months ago, knowing what oceanfront means. We are at best 200 yards from the ocean and have a resort view. When I spoke to the manager about the mistake, I was told that anytime you can see the ocean it is “ocean front.” It is loud and not at all what we were hoping to experience. We have stayed at the Westin Kaanapali a few times, and are owners of the Westin villas. We also travel extensively and know that ocean front means when you look out your window, what is in front of you is the ocean not a Disneyland type resort 200 yards from the ocean. Unfortunately, it cost us double our points that are normally spent and management was disappointing to say the least. So beware! Ocean front as a joke and you will get what you get! We just don’t want anyone to experience what we went through and lose all your points on false advertisement. Ocean front means nothing here!
