Detailed Reviews
Location of the property is perfect if you want calm and quiet place. It's still 5 minutes walk from the town center, with 2 grocery stores and bars and max 10 minutes walk to the pier. Rooms are clean and our was much bigger than the others. A little bit darker as the windows are small, and the furnishing is simple (the only -). On the other site the exterior is spacious and have a lot of place to chill directly at the water at the sunset. There sldo outdoor kitchenaid with everything you might need. Special thanks to Sandra, awesome receptionist / manager. She was very positive, friendly, and beyond helpful. Accommodation was a little bit more pricey in peak Christmas season, but reasonable and worth every cent. Recommend to stay here and enjoy the holidays.

The rooms are clean and meet your basic needs, but a stay at V. Boheme on Culebra is not about spending time in your room. The patio is right on the waters of Ensenada Honda and affords ample places and nooks to relax and enjoy the views. The open air kitchen was recently remodeled and has all the basics you need to prepare your own food and to keep your beverages cold. What separates this lodging from others is that the communal areas (patio and kitchen) allow you to interact and meet other travelers and I have made many friends while staying there. From VB you can walk to the ferry, grocery stores, the library and several restaurants. I also walk to and from the airport, which is only 15 minutes away on foot. You might find cheaper lodging on the island, but not a better experience.

Amazing place with great ocean view. Friendly staff, rooms and common areas super cleaned. Walking distance to restaurants. It was my first trip to culebra and although the weather inclement at the island the staff was amazing accommodating me and my fam. Totally recommended.

Room is not as described online. The pictures are not at all accurate.
We overlooked this gross misrepresentation because in Culebra it's not as easy as other places to just move to another hotel.
It rained in Culebra the 4th day we stayed at this place. And to our surprise it surely rained in our room (Room 11). The roof leaked across the entire kitchen which left half the room unusable. Contacted the owner and his response was "oh yea it's under warranty but the company refuses to come back". So obviously this has been a problem he's been ignoring. The only remedy he offered was bringing us pots and pans or beach towels to collect the water. He didn't care about the inconvenience. When we asked for another comparable room he stated none were available. He smugly stated your options are a room with a balcony and a leak or a smaller room with no balcony but "you're not getting anything refunded"... other rooms are less expensive and he acted like he was doing us a favor.

Stayed at Villa Boheme in Culebra for 4 nights. Paid $120.00 plus tax for room. Got a king size bed with an efficiency kitchen. Ceiling fan looked like it was about to fall of the ceiling. We were on the ground floor so no private balcony. If you book, try to get something on the second floor, that looked more private to me. Our room was clean but very dark and the windows were rather small. As we were on the ground floor which opens up onto a communal patio it sometimes felt like we had strangers in our bedroom. Also there is a rooster next door that begins it crowing at 3am. Villa Boheme is on a Bay and the view of the rest of the Bay was great. There were however a lot of mosquitoes. The guest house is well maintained and is probably one of the better establishments on the island. It is also well located near the edge of the very small town of Dewey. You may want to consider renting a scooter for part of the time you are there as the beaches are far from the town. All in all, Villa Boheme provided adequate accomodations but I felt that it was a bit overpriced for what they offered. I thought that there was a much better price quality ratio at Casa La Lanchita on Vieques, which I have also reviewed.

This place was cute, but a little run down, especially the common cooking area. But on the other hand, it was much more reasonable in price. and things were clean and cheerful. Five of us fit just fine in their big room. And we liked the deck.
It's walking distance to restaurants etc. But you'll need a jeep to get around to the beaches anyway. (Carlos Jeep Rental was fine.)
Great snorkeling, beautiful beaches, warm water - I want to go back to Culebra.

My husband and I went to San Juan for vacation but wanted to get off the beaten path. People in San Juan recommended we go to Culebra and see the beautiful beaches.
We hopped on a flight to Culebra at the last minute (arranged quickly through our hotel concierge), and went with no reservations for a hotel. One of the locals recommended a few places including Villa Boheme.
We wandered in to this very cute property and got a room right away. The owner allowed us to view the room before paying. The rooms are simple and small, but they are clean, and the A/C works well. We were only there for two days, but if we had been there longer, we would have made use of the patio area which is a nice spot for hanging out. FYI, this is an island, so you can't throw TP in the toilet, and the water has a bit of an odd odor. Nothing unusual for islands. After we checked out, the owner let us borrow some towels and use the changing room--I'm sure she didn't have to, but she did, and it was really nice since we only brought backpacks with us.
Right next door is a restaurant/bar, the Dinghy Dock, which we liked. There's not much on the island, but two small grocery stores, a bakery that sells coffee, and other bars/restaurants are within close walking distance. From the area where the inn is, you can get a taxi van that goes to Flameco beach for $2. The airport is actually pretty close, too--maybe a 15 minute walk.
Do some research before you go, and make sure this is your type of place. It is not a luxury resort area, and really, there aren't a lot of tourists. Depending on the kind of travel you enjoy, this may be good or bad. You have to deal with mosquitos, a bit of dirt, and roosters running around (and also a flight on a tiny plane that is a little scary), but if you're willing to handle it you'll be rewarded with some of the best beaches around, without massive crowds, bad attitudes, or high-rises. Flamenco is everything you could want in a beach: perfect powdery sand, clear warm water, and plenty of open space. Also, we found the people who live on this small island very friendly--and tolerant of tourists.
Important advice: Use lots of sunscreen, and put the bug spray on BEFORE you even get on the plane. We wish we had.

Villa Boheme is a wonderful place to stay in Culebra with really excellent and courteous staff. Originally we had booked Mamacita's but had the misfortune of getting a room with a flooded bathroom that was going to be renovated anyway the next day. To Mamacita's credit, they gave us a full refund and called Villa Boheme to find us
a vacancy. Had we known, we would have booked at Villa Boheme in the first place! It's right on the water (it's a pier, not a beach) and really lovely. It's not a fancy place, but it has absolutely everything you need for a hotel room and is VERY clean and well maintained and was about 10x better and at least twice the size of the room we originally booked at Mamacita's (for the same price). The rooms are large (for Culebra) and have a/c and nice bathrooms. The view from the rooms b/c of it's proximity to the water is amazing. We also had the misfortune of having an accident at the beach (this was not our lucky trip) and needed to go to the only medical clinic on the island. The staff was extremely accomodating and one of the domestic help actually came to visit us and offered her assistance. We also got a call from the manager to make sure we were ok. Unfortunately we had to leave early because we required additional medical assistance and again they were very accomodating. So although our trip was a DISASTER (I am not exaggerating at all), Villa Boheme and its staff turned out to be an unexpected find and went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care of. We plan to return sometime in the future. As a warning, however to beach-goers, do observe standard safety precautions when swimming. My husband and I are not experienced snorkelers but were so drawn by the
beauty of the island we decided to go snorkeling anyway when conditions were not appropriate. We are usually very cautious people but somehow on vacation we did not heed our usual warnings. We tried the reef off Playa Carlos Rosario and nearly drowned b/c there are some very strong currents in the area (particularly in the middle between the 2 beaches where there are nearly whirlpools due to the strength of the current). As well, there was a swell warning and warning for small boat-owners which we should have headed as well. Make sure you check the tide/swell warnings along with the weather forecast. Above all admire the beauty of nature but BE SAFE. We were rescued by complete strangers passing by on a boat (actually 2 boats rescued us). I am eternally grateful to these very brave local people
who saved us. I don't even know their names. They risked their
own lives (even swimming in the current and with the waves smashing against the rocks) to do an amazing rescue. This was as close to a miracle as I've ever seen (or want to see again) because I thought my
husband had drowned (and so did his rescuers) by the time they got to him. Any later, he definitely would have died and so I am very lucky he is alive today. Note, this is (as many beaches on the island) a very secluded beach so the fact anyone was around (particularly in the area we got caught in the current) was extremely
lucky. While at the medical clinic, we heard from the locals that (as with any beach surrounded island) drowning is not a rare occurrence. Even at Flamenco beach, there are drownings every year (and this beach has lifesavers) and there are currents there particularly if you go near the reefs. If you do go snorkeling, WEAR A LIFE JACKET (I had one and my husband didn't). It's the only reason

Villa Boheme is a nice looking and a clean small hotel. It’s very quiet and the view on the bay is beautifull. There is mxany kind of room (kitchen, 2 or many peoples, etc)
Just beside the hotel, there is a nice restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There feeding big fish (1 meter) and it’s very impressing.

Villa Bohème is a great experience. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, and the hotel itself is beautiful as well. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, and the location is great. You are within walking distance of most everything of interest within the town, and the central location on the island means that no beach is more than a $2 cab ride away.
In my opinion this hotel is the best value on the island.
