The staff went beyond fantastic service. I had a 50th birthday dinner for my husband . Everything to balloons cake Champagne and fantastic meal and service. I can't wait to come back . Gelly and and everyone in guest services are fantastic.

The beach is breathtaking! Crystal clear ocean water, and the sand is so soft on the feet. I have Oceanview balcony which is breathtaking day or night! I most definitely will be back to the Tryp! There is lots to do if you are into excursions! ❤️🇨🇦
Review for Tryp Cayo Coco, Cuba Travel Dates were, November 2-9, 2021 I am a very avid 30-year traveler and this was my 10th vacation to Cuba and 2nd to Cayo Coco. My first time at this 4-star resort. I was so pleased with this hotel that I am actually thinking of returning again in January 2022 as many other traveller’s state. I booked this vacation through Selloffvacations and as I did 1-month prior booking with them to Mexico, this trip with them as my agent FAILED in so many ways. I tried to change my dates on account of the Cuban Restrictions that this company doesn’t even know. (DO YOUR RESEARCH) They are here for profits and don’t care as long as you make your bookings. I tried on several dates to try and have my vacation dates changed. They lie and say it is up to Air Canada. That is a LIE. Your travel airline can NOT intervene unless it is 48 hours before your trip. The company you book through is responsible for your booking and changes and I have the conversations recorded and they did not attempt in any way try to help me. I had to continually try to call and see about changes. Then at the Ottawa airport, Air Canada representative Jennifer, did not want to reveal her employee number?? As her and another female colleague said you do NOT have your 72-hour PCR test therefor you are not allowed to board for Cuba. After many assertive discussions, I realized they were wrong and had to address it later. My ride came to pick me up and away home I went with my blood pressure through the roof. I was about 15 minutes away from the airport when an Air Canada Representative called me, Hi, I am Nathalie from Air Canada and we made a mistake and you are allowed to travel from Canada to Cuba Direct and your Exempt. So, if you can, return and we will get you on your flight. I told her I will after my blood pressure lowers. AC agent Nathalie takes care of me in 4 minutes, but the 2 female agents that were so sure of themselves putting me through this experience, couldn’t even look up at me when I tried to get their attention, on account of true embarrassment. I have never seen anything like It in 30 years yet, these 2 women were SO SURE that I was in the wrong and could have lost my whole weeks vacation. Air Canada should be accountable and I have just submitted my complaint today as I am writing this review. Now to the Hotel Review and better things……. I want to start by saying where ever you decide to travel, after my experience downloading a translator on your phone was the best thing I have ever done especially on this trip. -Download what is called Spanish to English OFFLINE Translator (also Russian which actually made this vacation the most interesting ever) This way you do not need to log into internet and still use the offliine translator to communicate. It was the best thing I have experienced. I made friends with Russians who usually are distant on account of communication, but with the translator it made things open up to communication like I never seen. I made Russian friends and Cuban Friends just by using it. This was the first time I have seen a Cuban resort with free Wifi. It works in the Lobby area, Buffet, and at the Beach Bar. This was the best experience from not having to get on a computer. Lol You get a wifi number and you continually get free wifi while you there. These are the things that I feel are the pros of this resort. Very clean and well-groomed Hotel Grounds. These guys do an amazing job at what they do. Very well kept and very well lit at night. Management picked the right staff for this hotel. I would have to say that the staff at Tryp had probable the best English out of all the Cuban resorts I visited and that is a major plus for returning. Communication at the front desk was very good. They listen and if you have a complaint they actually act on it. They fixed my toilet within 5 minutes. Beautiful, kind front desk service (Alaynay) and the others, along with the best Guest Services I have ever seen. Thank you (Arelys, Lucy, Jefe, and Getty) Check in was easy for me as I was the only Canadian EH. This resort is a good size and perfect so that it is not always repetitive. On Account of Covid a few restaurants are closed but I did not feel disappointed at the options of Restaurants. The Buffet is pretty large, you need to wear your masks entering the restaurants, and while getting your food, but that doesn’t seem to be enforced. Many Russians and Cubans not wearing them. My biggest disappointment was the Breakfast Mourning Grill for eggs and Omelettes. They told me that the exhaust fan needed repair so I didn’t get my morning eggs on the grill but my favourite Waiter William, asked the chef to personally make me one. Thanks amigo. Lol The Buffet Breakfest closes at 10 am but be there at 9:30 am cause 9:45 they start packing up really fast. I wish they could keep it open until at least 10:30 am like other resorts, but it is about saving money. Maybe Management could consider this later option?? The Buffet for Lunch opens at 12:30 pm. As well I think the option to eat is the beach bar at 12 pm. Hopefully after talking with Arelys, that it will be fixed when I return. Big Disappointment, I never once seen one piece of bacon anywhere. The al a carte restaurants were alright without disrespecting the Cuban food. I think they should rethink the area they have these restaurants surrounded by a type swamp area which I was not happy eating and being eaten alive by Mosquitos. That was my reason for not returning. Still very nice Scenery and staff. Just not fun with the mosquitos. Overall, I found the food to be pretty good, and the Lentil soup with Pumpkin…. I had 4 bowls…lol The Entertainment staff rock. I found them to be kind, fun, and try and make you enjoy your time. Thanks to some the staff, (Leyani, Yudenia, etc) The DJ’s were really the best I have seen in Cuba. You guys listen if we want a request, that is important. The dancers were well Choreographed and the shows were well done. We had to move from the main stage to the bar area on account of the weather but that was actually more fun. My only complaint was why the entertainment around the pools doesn’t start until 2-3 pm if I am correct. I found that late, unless I am wrong and also a list that should be more obvious to us to see what is the schedule for the day. They had Dance shows, Karaoke (with some fun creative Russians taking over, lol) I would like to see more of the Cuban guitar players with the Culture. They have a Male Massage Therapist at the resort. I was honestly amazed at the price. 1 hour for $ 28 CAD That is a great price. The Shops for Rum, and gifts, etc…. will ONLY take credit cards. (Independent company is why) the rum is $ 5 pesos cheaper than the Airport. (At the Airport they will take Canadian Cash, but be SURE TO GET A RECIEPT or they will confiscate it at customs.) Needs to be in a sealed bag from the Airport. Or at the hotel, get your receipt and keep it handy in case they ask. If you want to tip, the Cubans can’t use Canadian Coins, so our lowest bill is a $5 so use it wisely or change for American in Canada, that way you give smaller tips, or change into Pesos at the Airport, NOT AT THE HOTEL. I don’t think they can do it and banks are nowhere near the hotel. It works out that we lose 30 cents to each dollar approx.. I personally bring gifts from the dollar store, like soap, toothpaste and brushes, nail polish, shampoo, etc… these items are expensive to Cubans. Plus, it makes you feel nice inside. Lol There is a Souvenir Market about ¾ Km walk from the hotel for the usual things. Not many shops open and again the Rum can only be purchased with a credit card (remember there is a fee to you as a Canadian on top the price you pay, so that is not convenient) Not much to see but good on a rainy day. The pools are pretty large and well laid out. I really like the set up with a swim up bar. Music at the pool during the day. No problem getting a chair at the pool or the beach, but it is only 60 % full. The Beach is nice and long with deep shallow water entering it, which I love. Be very careful but the coral is very sharp and can cut your feet. Mostly when you walk onto the beach but at the water it is beautiful. Not much seaweed as they clear it each day. There is a wonderful Beach Bar with the Nicest Staff ever, honestly. (sorry can’t remember all the names…..blame it on the RUM…lol ) The bartender and the restaurant staff are so nice. They can get crazy busy, and they are dancing around to the music, when most of us would be pissed…lol Love it. The only thing missing here is a better music sound system. They serve Sandwiches- try the Chicken salad sandwich… I was so surprise how good it was. Hamburgers and hot dogs, and a daily menu of food. My negative comment about the resort. When the restaurants close, the ONLY thing available to eat (when the music from the DJ’s are playing) is a very basic 1 piece of cheese, 1 piece of ham on toast grilled. That really was my biggest disappointment of my vacation. After drinking and celebrating, you want to have something to eat more then the most basic sandwich I have ever seen. I really hope you ladies in Customer Service take this part of my review to improve this. I talked to many Russians… Canadians while I was there and that was the main complaint also. I never seen this limited option in any other resort. Could have more Hand Sanitizer bottles more available and the dryer working in the washrooms. The Dance Club is closed for Covid, but let me tell you, these guys can make a party in the Lobby so much fun. This I think I would prefer then the Disco, after taking a look. My interaction, better atmosphere and overall open environment. This is where I had the most fun and actually after 2 days, was ready to extend my vacation for one more week…lol but AC’s prices were the same as if they had to fly me from home again, so that really upset me….. The rooms are clean, cozy, and the beds are actually very comfortable. The best I have had in Cuba. The bathroom is dated with the hotel. Our section building #9 had poor water pressure all week. I did have hot water, but had to almost have my nose against the wall to get the shampoo off my head… it works… but room for improvement. The shower is in the bathtub. The bathtub is very slim and dangerous and very easily you could fall…. especially after a few drinks…lol so careful there. But it works and that doesn’t change my view of the hotel, but renovating would really be a positive. Towels are restocked but, as with Cuba, you will see a few stains on the white towels which I have seen many times at other Cuban resorts. They are clean, but just need some newer ones or attention. Maid service is good, and as always while traveling anywhere, always KEEP your jewelry, electronics, and valuables in the in room safe that is included in the price. The rooms have a nice Balcony with 2 chairs and thank you Alenay from the front desk for giving me a fantastic view of the Ocean, even from a distance. That was very nice. The way the hotel rooms are set up they give at least some view of the Ocean depending where it is….. well laid out. Bartenders were very nice at the Lobby bar. I have had some very nice interactions with them. They have the usual mixed drinks and draft beer… canned when the keg was down. I did not and do not think that this resort actually makes a MAJITO. I heard many ask and never seen 1 drink the whole week. This is the first time I seen that in Cuba. Maybe a shortage of Mint, but this should be addressed for those who visit Cuba for this special drink. I personally don’t care for it, but I do reviews everywhere and this should be looked into. The Expresso and coffee are a huge hit and people seemed to love it. -My negative review after many interactions with other travellers such as the Russians, which is 40 % of the customers and Canadians is when your waiting at the bar for 5 -10 minutes for a drink, and a Cuban Vacationer comes up, they tend to serve them before the tourist and I brought this situation up with Guest Services and without ANY discrimination, I just want them to realize that we pay much more money and although money is not the principal, it is how the bartenders realize who has been waiting longer, which is very obvious if they have done the job for so many years. I hope that this is reviewed and addressed for better reviews. Hey, I am still going to return….lol If you are looking for a resort with energy, fun, great staff, exciting nightly Entertainment and really the nicest view during the day from the terrace Lobby area looking towards the Ocean, you will not be disappointed. I have travelled Thailand, Jamaica, DR, Florida, many many times and it is very rare you will get me to return to the same hotel, But Tryp Cayo Coco, Cuba has made a very nice impression of real genuine staff, that I came to feel loved and it made me feel as a solo male traveller, very warm inside. Yes, I am an Extrovert and made sure they knew who I was, but they really go out of their way to make you enjoy yourself. For this reason and many more I will be returning to TRYP Cayo Coco and I would approve of booking this resort without hesitation, as with the reviews from others that made me decide about coming here.
