TRYP Cayo Coco stands out for its vibrant atmosphere, complete with lively music and entertainment that guests have called out for creating a welcoming environment, albeit with some noisy spots. While the amenities, including clean beaches and diverse food options, generally meet traveler expectations, there are mentions of room maintenance issues and the need for modernization. Cleanliness is a strong suit, with spotless rooms and well-kept pools and beaches often highlighted. The rooms are described as spacious but suffer from noise and humidity, and some guests suggest they could use an update. Service is typically seen as friendly and professional, though experiences of inconsistency have been noted. Despite mixed feedback, many guests feel the all-inclusive offerings provide good value.

Amazing experience. It was my very first time in Cuba and the staff made my stay wonderful! They were all so welcoming. The rooms were kept very clean and the gardeners were always hard at work making the grounds look beautiful. The food was very good! There was lots to choose from: pasta bar, fish, chicken, pork. Fresh bread every day. I loved how friendly the staff was and they were all very informative. If I return to Cuba I will definitely be staying here again!

I travelled solo to the Tryp in September 2021 as a last minute getaway before my school semester started. I had put off travel for obvious reasons, and decided to take the chance. I am so glad I did, because my week was AMAZING.

For anyone concerned about Covid, the Tryp staff follow all protocols (much better than I've seen in Montreal, honestly). Masks are always worn and sanitizer is used everywhere. I felt very safe and confident in all parts of the resort. As well, the tests done upon arrival and before departure were done very professionally. I was impressed with the whole situation.

Now for the vacation itself! My room, in block nine, was lovely, clean, and comfortable, with a nice view off the balcony and out the front door. Mornings were spent doing homework in the lobby bar with endless cappuccinos and a view that can't be compared. Afternoons in the ocean or pool (Go see Ricardo for the 'hydration' at the pool bar!) Evening activities that keep you busy, until it's time to say goodnight to all the new friends you've made so far. (If you can get Julio to sing you won't regret it 🤭 )

The food was great, both at the buffets and the a la carte. I've never had better cucumbers than at the Tryp! And lunches at the beach restaurant has some of the bluest sky views you could ever ask for.

As a woman traveling alone, I was in the best hands at Tryp. I never once worried about being solo, even after a Pina Colada or three. Everyone that works there checks in to make sure you're doing well, and Customer Service is fantastic.

All in all, it was exactly what I'd hoped, a laid-back week at the beach with the loveliest people in the world. If you need to put yourselves first and do some recombobulating, I would suggest Tryp over anywhere.

Can't wait to come back 😘

My wife and I go to the Tryp regularly, as many people do for the service and friendliness, and of course the weather. The Tryp is ideally located close to the airport and within walking distance along the beach to the other Melia hotel, where you can have a lunch from a different buffet. There is a lot of beach and the water is beautiful and warm.
The tryp really is just a nice relaxing, safe vacation that doesn't require too much thought or planning and tourism is really a boost to their economy.

If you want to watch a movie in the evening, you can bring a USB key and plug it into the television.

I have been to 60 countries and stayed in multiple hotels and this is the first time I was happy to leave the hotel and go home. The hotel infrastructure is poor - no water in shower and toilets , run down rooms, rusty kettles , stained bedding and towels . We paid an extra $20 a day to transfer to a superior room only to find that we had ice cold water every morning and it was marginally better.
We spoke to many other guests and everyone felt that the management couldn’t care less. The food in the restaurant was boring and both lunch and dinner was identical . Most 4 star hotels have great dinners but many days we left the hotel as we could not face eating the same food twice.
The a’la carte Restaurant was great and the staff brilliant especially Alejandro
The maids cleaning the room were excellent and the performances by the in- house dancers were amazing .
The hotel has a beautiful beach and there were always an abundance of sun loungers available.
I would give the staff and beach 5 stars
The rooms and infrastructure 2 stars
Recommend paying a bit more and going to Memories or Melia Cayo Coco
We even tried to change hotels but the tour rep advised against it. Relied on a relative to book this and it was a big mistake.
The music was great and on many evenings we danced late into the night

I would advise anyone travelling to Cuba in the near future to stay far away from this resort, all around terrible amenities and service. The receptionists are all rude, never crack a smile and could care less if you have been waiting 5 minutes or 50 minutes. No help with luggage was offered to our third floor room (no elevators here). No welcome drink. Nearly impossible to get a drink anywhere, no drink menus. Served the Cuban families first every time. Slowest service I have ever experienced, as well as the rudest. Lady working at the snack bar was talking on her phone for 5 minutes before even acknowledging we were there and we were standing right in front of her, and were the only people at the bar. A la carte restaurants are impossible to book, not enough slots to even go twice in one week. FOOD, the food.... is the worst I've ever eaten anywhere. It is a slop kitchen, saw a waiter dig into the pasta bin with his bare hands.... that the guests eat out of. Lots of the food at the buffet is cold as well and looks a week old.

Pool area is just a disaster, the sidewalks are all falling apart and crumbling so it is extremely uncomfortable to walk on, beach chairs are disgusting, I think they are probably 30+ years old. Pool is so cold you can't even swim in it. Entertainment is PATHETIC during the day and at night. All old people here or young families so resort is dead by 10:30.

Our room was extremely dated, shower had barely a trickle coming out and water was lukewarm at best.

Area to store luggage in when checking out was nasty and had old moldy cups in it and stunk terribly. We were also told we had to give our pool towels back when we checked out even though we had 3 more hours before our bus came to take us to the airport so we had no pool towels while at the pool.

Only good thing was the beach.

0/10 would recommend. Do not waste your money, the sister hotel of this one is the Sol Cayo Coco.. wouldn't go there either. Can get way better bang for your buck somewhere else... a 3 star in Mexico would be better than this dump. I don't know who is writing the reviews that say good things but they must be getting paid.

Great staff is about the best thing going at this resort. 1st sign of problems was entering the buffet and not having staff give you hand sanitizer. The cooks and other staff would take tips of coins and bills with their bare hands and then continue to cook and prep food. Saw some staff cough into their hands and then continue working with food. The buffet food selection was poor and many of the meats including the chicken were not properly cooked and usually had more red and raw meat than cooked meat. The room we were in was not in the best shape with continued problems with the door lock, lots of tiny bugs all over and a toilet that would not flush. Most days on the beach were windy and such. Out of all the all inclusive resorts I have stayed at, this was the worst in my opinion. Again , the staff was great , the rest was quite less than ok

My family of 4 vacationed at Tryp Dec 21 to 28.

I have real safety concerns regarding social distancing and sanitation safety at the hotel.

The buffet food station lineup is extremely overcrowded at the opening hour of the Buffet which causes too many people lined up so close together to get food. This puts for people at risk to get Covid when we’re that close together.
I recommend that the food stations be spaced out further apart since I noted there were lots of open areas that food stations can be moved to instead of clustered in the center so guests can get food without bumping into each other.
There needs to be hand sanitizer available in the Buffet where food is being supplied. The hand sanitizer at the entrance was mostly empty upon arrival at each mealtime at the buffet which is not safe.
Dining tables and place mates needs to be sanitized between guests to prevent the spread of covid.
I also found many times the lobby bar guests were not socially distancing while standing waiting for their drinks which is very unsafe.

There were several guests smoking in the nonsmoking part right at the bar, sitting right below the nonsmoking sign.

My safety at this resort was neglected by staff and I feel there are much room for guest safety improvements.

Dear Sodasy; Thank you for leaving your comment on the site. We are very sorry for the incidents you had during your stay. We have taken note of your comments and discussed them with the relevant management staff. As you mentioned, we have several areas that we have covered with different services to avoid queues and thus prevent the spread of disease. Currently, we have implemented a space for pastas and pizzas, as well as for sausages and breads. We have re-established our grills, offering omelettes and pancakes, as well as meat and fish services in the afternoons and evenings. Regarding the disinfection point at the entrance of the buffet, we always refill with disinfectant gel, and in case we don't have it, we take as additional protection our alcohol sparay, at the entrance and distributed by each one of our employees at the points. On the other hand, concerning the cases of customers smoking in the non-permitted areas, the management has taken action with them, and so that incidents like this one will not happen again, we have placed ashtrays on each of the tables on our terrace. We hope you will give us a second chance so that you can appreciate the changes and improvements we intend to make. We recommend that you follow us on our social networks so that you can appreciate our day to day, and if you decide to, we will be waiting for you to share a new experience together. Stayed 2 weeks. Excellent staff service. Had special events/meals for travellers. Glad they had weekend breakfasts at the Loma restaurant. Very much enjoyed the live entertainment in the lobby each night and the “Show Time” later in the evening.

Very much appreciated the “A la carte” dinners. Beach was fantastic as always. Not able to “play” at the 2 other resorts at this time as we were told they were closed. Hotel/resort does need updates and renovations but I’m very glad my room was clean (that’s a must for me).

Disappointed with how dirty dishes were at the buffet. With Covid, it’s so important to have clean dishes, soap in all bathrooms and hand sanitizers in dispensers. Food options at buffet were limited.

The stations we used to love at the buffet weren’t there (pizza station, stir fry station, pasta station, grill station, smoothie station…) Alcoholic beverages were limited and I suggest a drink menu to be added. The bar on the ground floor (near buffet ramp) used to be opened all the time to offer drinks and food but not this time. Never knew when or if it was opened. Would’ve been great to offer less wait times at the lobby bar during evenings. Also need more seating in lobby in all sections.

Also very limited shaded areas at the beach and that’s definitely something that should be increased!! Cuban families are now welcomed to the resort regularly and we’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few who wanted to speak with us and learn more about where we come from.

There are still 2 little shops on the resort: 1 with cigars, coffee and alcohol, the other with a few things such as towels, sunscreen, rhum…

There is a market to which you may walk (10-15 minutes). Sells souvenirs, alcohol, limited clothing, but know that the Pharmacy there has closed.

As for the “Show Time”, I wish a little more English was spoken by the MC because often that was lacking and most presentation prior and after show was in Spanish.

Had fun and made wonderful new memories.

This was my second trip to Tryp. The resort is very clean. The rooms and the grounds were cleaned regularly.

Checking in was a breeze. The receptionist with the pixie cut is the best.

The beach was wonderful, the staff makes an effort to ensure that the sea weed is kept at bay. There were an adequate number of sheltered beach chairs.

Pool was fantastic and cleaned quite regularly. The pool games were fun.

I actually quite enjoyed the food this time around. Perhaps it is the smaller selection of food, but items were well seasoned and very yummy. The omelette station was great in the morning.

Night entertainment was lovely, they switch it up every night. Unfortunately, the disco was closed but we didn’t feel like we were missing anything.

It was great seeing all the familiar faces and all the new ones. Steve, the lead animator, was lovely as per usual. Fidel, the server is the sweetest. I met Lucy, the assistant manager for the first time and she is super nice and professional. We met, Antonio, the lifeguard and we loved him too.

I’m looking forward to my next trip.

Pro tip: bring mosquito repellant!

I have been going to tryp caya coco since I was 8 years old I am now 32, my mother who’s now 72 goes twice a year.
It is safe and the staff are amazing some of them have seen me grow up!!
I learned Spanish , how to dance salsa bachata and Tryp has definitely made me love Cuba and the reason I would go back!!
Definitely not Varadero though have given it a couple chances nothing like caya coco more relaxed vacation for sure.
I haven’t been in around 3 years now but I’m sure it’s just getting better!! They had 7 a la carte restaurants when I used to go they had decent food as well as you could walk the beach and go to there sister hotel and eat lunch there!
They treat my mom like family and I love that I don’t have to worry about her going there!!
Would recommend it for sure!! Although if you’ve been to Rui’s or 5 star it won’t be that but the people the beach the decent food and safeness of the resort is on point.

Im sorry but I heard nothing about what you are inquiring about. Tye only health issue we experienced was the volume of “house flies” throughout the entire resort. The lobby area,, buffet and pool bar were covered in flies, they were everywhere. We also noticed little to no chlorine in the pools.
