After many trips driving through the Eastern Shore, we decided to make a weekend visit. We selected The Inn at Onancock based on reviews and we were not disappointed. Onancock reminded us of the quaint New England seaside villages that we love. There were plenty of great restaurants and shops and all of the locals and business owners were very friendly. The inn was the epitome of gracious hospitality. The innkeepers Kim and Matt (and of course our 4 legged host, Dante) are the consummate hosts. The inn was beautifully and luxuriously decorated and there were large spaces with every amenity available for guests to enjoy by themselves or with other guests. We stayed in the Provence room that was outfitted with a gas fireplace and our bathroom included a claw foot tub and shower. The room was large and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the daily happy hour/snacks and conversation with the innkeepers and other guests. Coffee, tea, etc. was delivered outside of our bedroom door each morning, to enjoy as we waited for breakfast. Kim served a delicious full breakfast in the dining room, complete with fresh baked muffins, fruit and entree. No detail was overlooked. By the end of our short weekend, we felt like we had been visiting with friends. We can't wait to return!

We were part of a 6 day tandem bike tour exploring the quiet country roads of the Virginian Eastern Shore and were thrilled with our guides' choice in picking The Inn at Onancock for our accommodations on this portion of our journey. Kim and Matt were very welcoming when 10 sweaty cyclists showed up on their doorstep, only making the very reasonable request that we remove our cycling cleats before tromping over their beautifully restored hardwood floors and very nice area rugs. Matt even gave up his well equipped shop / garage so we could park our bikes in a secure area out of the weather. Once we cleaned ourselves up, we came downstairs to enjoy the Inn's signature "wine-down" event with some tasty snacks and adult beverages.

We stayed in the "Maine" room on the top floor. It was much more spacious than we've had in many B&B's, with a king sized bed and a small desk to plug in our tablet so we could check e-mail, news and weather. A 5G connection was a pleasant surprise and would probably come in very handy if you were on a vacation that might require you to check in to work for a Zoom meeting or something similar. Do note that the Maine room does not have a typical shower stall. It has a large tub with a typical tub spout and also an extendable shower wand nozzle. We didn't find it to be any problem at all, but if you want a regular shower stall, I'm pretty sure that all or most of the rooms on the lower floors have them.

My wife recently took up quilting as one of her COVID hobbies and was just over the moon with the quilts in our room. They added just another level of unexpected character that added to the enjoyment of our stay.

Breakfasts were excellent. Both mornings that we were there started with a fruit, yogurt and homemade granola parfait. The fruit was all deliciously fresh and juicy.

On day one we had a sort of poached egg on avocado toast and day two was an egg and cheese soufflé with a slice of fresh tomato on top. Both were accompanied by fresh baked muffins and perfectly crisped bacon. We could not have asked for any thing more to set us off on our next two days of riding the Va. Eastern Shore.

What a wonderful experience! We travel full time, and this was our first visit to this area of Virginia. From the moment we arrived, Kim and Matt welcomed us into their beautiful home as if we were family. While a Victorian home, the furnishings are all very comfortable (no floral wallpaper, lace curtains, etc. that you typically find in traditional B&Bs).

We were treated to a "wine down" cocktail hour + hors d'oeuvres with the other guests (all vaccinated). One of the first times we've actually spent time with others, sharing stories, seeing faces in over a year.

Beds were comfortable, breakfast delicious! Can't wait to return.

We arrive on a drizzly day, and Kim meets us at our car with a big golf umbrella. She offers to help lug our suitcases while greeting us. She was so inviting. She never seemed she had elsewhere to go but with us. Her guest rooms are all beautiful with amenities you always hope to see, including deep soaking bathtubs. After settling in, at our own pace, Kim and Matt (and Dante!) met us in the living room for a refreshing, light, and tasty "Wine Down" with very smooth - you guessed it - wine. Again, we never felt rushed, but we left to enjoy a restaurant a few steps away from the inn that they recommended, enjoyed the dinner, and then settled back at our room for a very peaceful rest. As promised, we woke to coffee with all the fixings requested and the breakfast was creative and cookbook-worthy! On top of that, it was customized to our taste, which she inquired about the night before. The little things are really the biggest things, aren't they? Our visit continues to resonate with us, in part because she took time to recommend areas of Onancock for my mom to live. We are following her guidance and, again, it is looking spot on!

We only stayed one night but Kim and Matt were great hosts. They have a great tradition of serving wine and appetizers from 5-6pm with the all the guests and you get to meet some good people and learn a lot about the area. Kim and Matt’s boat was out of service being detailed, but Kim arranged a sunset cruise with another boat operator (Chris) and we had a wonderful cruise that evening seeing egrets mating and bald eagles soaring as we approached the Chesapeake bay. Dinner at Maurice’s that evening was also very good and Kim knew which local restaurants were good and served until 9pm so we could eat after the cruise. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful. As we departed Kim told us about a great sculptor in the area that was on the way out of town and we stopped and had a great visit. We highly recommend The Inn at Onancock as a wonderful place to stay and learn how to enjoy the Eastern shore.

As soon as we were vaccinated and our two week waiting period was up, I started hunting for a getaway that we could reach easily from our home. We had stayed here 5 years ago when the Inn was under different management. We booked 3 nights in the Maine room. Kim and Matt are marvelous hosts and the Inn is beautiful. The spaces were immaculate and all Covid restrictions were met. Breakfasts were varied and delicious. The Wine Down hour with drinks and hors d’oeuvres was lots of fun and a great chance to meet the other guests as well as get to know Kim and Matt better. Every morning by 7:30, coffee is outside of the room. Kim made reservations for us two nights and was able to get tickets to the Eastern Shore Historic Garden Tour for us. She had lots of info and suggestions for places to visit or eat. The Maine room was on the top floor, but we had the floor to ourselves. The room was bright and airy and the bathroom very spacious. The bath has a large jetted tub with a hand held shower spray. The bed is king sized and very comfortable.
I highly recommend a stay here. We plan to return soon.

My husband and I decided to visit Onancock kind of spur of the moment. When we arrived we didn't have a place to stay. We walked to The Inn at Onancock and rang the doorbell. The house is so charming and inviting. Kim greeted us and as luck would have it, there was one room available for the night. She gave us a tour and showed us the room that would be ours for the night should we decide to stay. We did not hesitate to say "we'll take it". Best decision ever! The room was very nice and comfortable. The wine down that evening was outside in the garden (the weather was perfect!) We met the other guests and socialized with them and Kim & Matt. We met Dante as well (a beautiful and very well behaved German Shepherd). The snacks at the Wine Down were delicious and Kim's hosting was top notch. Even though we'd just met her and the other guests, it felt like a group of friends hanging out on a summer evening. The next morning, a tray with a pot of delicious fresh coffee was outside our room door so that we could enjoy some before going down to breakfast (yes, please!). The breakfast Kim prepared was delicious and filling. We felt so lucky to have found the Inn at Onancock! We would love to visit Onancock again and if we do I guarantee we will make a reservation with Kim & Matt because we loved their B&B; Kim's incredible food and their hospitality. We truly can't imagine staying anywhere else!

My husband and I had the good fortune to spend 6 days at this charming inn in a lovely small town. Our hosts(and owners), Matt and Kim, went out of their way to make the experience perfect. The rooms are so beautiful and full attention is given to comfort with glorious(ironed) sheets, thick towels, coffee service before breakfast. Kim provides a gourmet breakfast every morning and delicious snacks every evening in the "wine down" hour. She makes everything appear effortless. Both Matt and Kim love their adopted town and have wonderful ideas on how to spend the days. We came away refreshed and restored. Lynne & Larry

The Inn at Onancock is hospitality at its best. This house is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. Matt is the perfect host and made everyone feel right at home. The coffee tray at our door in the early morning was an added touch and the breakfast was delicious and beautifully served. The town of Onancock should be on your list to visit and when you do, be sure and stay at the Inn at Onancock.

Kim and Matt welcomed us back for the fourth time to their wonderful inn. In spite of recent statewide shutdowns, the Inn at Onancock is back open and better than ever. The hosts are taking extra special care of guests in light of the pandemic, and I’m honestly not comfortable staying anywhere else. There is so much to do on the area including beaches, wild ponies, wineries and breweries, and a front porch to relax upon. As of mid-May, restaurants are open for outside dining.

We stayed in the Provence room this time, my new favorite (I say that about every room!).

Be sure to arrange for Matt and Kim to take you out on their boat for a sunset cruise. Always a highlight.

I’ll attach some photos of our trip below:
